People working in our country should speak our language...english. Period. Of course, there shouldn’t be any need for foreign truckers, etc. No one can tell me that this is a case of “work that Americans won’t do”.
Senator Inhofe has an amendment (S.1151) to the immigration reform bill (hey, that’s what they call 1348) that would make english the national language. Call all the Senators and tell them that you support it! But do it now, before the Dems attempt cloture on Thursday.
But if a transportation company can hire someone to do the same job, at less than half the price, who cares if the driver is really qualified to to do the job?

My customers call me to clean up the mess of non-english speaking drivers trying to shake them down for “inside delivery charges” to offload their cargo quite often.
I often drive on the interstates, and no longer assume the 18 wheeler driver passing me on the right or the left has even the vaguest clue as to how to drive that big rig safely and professionally.
Oh, god forbid!
And I guess them able to read traffic signs is too much to ask as well.

They couldn’t even understand “we want your papers”. So how in the heck can they read and understand the road signs?? How can they understand our road rules? Our families are unsafe on our roads as long as non english speaking people are allowed to drive here.
I would never ever attempt to go to say...germany, rent a car and just start driving!!!
