Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #3 - Manchester, New Hampshire 06/05/07 - Official Discussion Thread
WMUR-TV, CNN, and the New Hampshire Union Leader will host a Republican debate in Manchester, New Hampshire on the campus of Saint Anselm College. Moderated by Wolf Blitzer. Debate begins at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m. PDT) and will last two hours.
Rooty didn’t look great to me. He looked like a loud-mouthed, pandering grandstander. Needless to say CNN only pays any attention to the Anointed Three.
LOL ... You've already got that candidate: Tom Tancredo in '08!
“Ron Paul absolutely does not deserve to be in this debate. He is totally out of place in this debate!!!”
Out of place? Which news organization is going to decide which candidates are in place and out of place, CNN, FOX, MSNBC? What would be the purpose of having 10 guys who all said exactly the same thing in a debate or in an election? If you begin removing everybody who doesn’t “fit the mold,” you’re going to end up with a controlled discussion rather than an open discussion.
As candidates they’re representing more than themselves and their records, they’re representing Americans around country who agrees with their views. To deny a candidate to publicly express himself in a debate is to deny his views from being publicly expressed, and thus deny those Americans who agree with him a voice in the debate.
The fact that Ron Paul was skipped over for most of the questions is bad enough. To remove a strictly constitutional candidate from a debate would be an even greater betrayal of the public.
I also don’t understand why Wolf Blitzer is hosting a Republican party debate, which commissar came up with that arrangement?
The media keeps Hunter marginalized because he has the answers they don’t like and speaks up.
Thompson supported McCain Feingold... ouch.
Did you like how Hunter got in that this new idiot immigration fiasco will negate what he already got passed? This guy thinks like me!!
on the stage....
Never mistake sloganeering for sound policy. Neo-Cons don’t believe in the law of unintended consequences.
I think Ron Paul could be a good attorney general.
So did Hunter i think.
The Kennedy wing.
As for waiting till the debates are over — I don’t think that’s the reason Kimberly. He did have contractual agreements, etc... He also just filed paperwork last Friday for his committee. I personally think Fred’s strategy at this point is great as he’s getting a TON of coverage without spending a dime, yet, but that’s my personal opinion and you, of course, are free to disagree.
NeoCon is a term the Democrats popularized... I refuse to follow their lead.
Well Ron Paul is ron paul. He’s a democrat, only a republican, ‘cause he couldn’t win as a democrat and he’s in an area that call themselves “indedpendent”, ‘cause they don’t know what they are.
NOW, my real reason for posting. HAD I been one of those running for the presidency and the question was asked “Is this President Bush’s war”? I would have answered “If one of your sons or daughters, fathers, brothers, sisters, nephews, neices were in Afghanistan or Iraq, wouldn’t this be your war too? I would have looked at the questioneer and wolfie, and demanded and answer. Then I would have said “Hell NO, this is all of Americas war. Have any of you heard of the Christian church destroyed in Indonesia toady? Is this just a war that was begun on September 11th when OUR World Trade Center was hit? Please answer me. Then I would have asked what should be done about the muslims destroying Christian churches in Indonesia and Asia. I would have asked for an answer. Just to see what would happen, and see if anyone DARED answer.
Romney needs to abandon the script in the worst way. If you heard him on Letterman or Imus a few years back, he can be spontaneously funny and engaging . He’s playing it too close to the vest right now.
With Hunter, he’s one of my top two choices right now (I’ve actually also liked how Gilmore’s come across in many ways, but he’s never gonna get anywhere). But I’m glad I still have many months to decide.
I liked Hunter’s R&C plug!
I liked the Kennedy party comments even better!
I want to read the transcript. Overall, I think he did great!
No, he most certainly did not.
This didn't do him much good, and appeared as though he has some kind of scheme, preferring to be interviewed instead of debating. Appeared to be somewhat of a cheap shot, avoiding confrontation.
