Very True.

In one of those State of the Union after-debates, Noonan was critical of Gerson for not "articulative" enough writing the speech. Gerson simply said: "I 'am President's voice. President is not my voice".

Red State insider heard The Clinton Plan.

The Democrats would do well to make sure that a third-party candidate running on an anti-immigrant platform is well-funded. This is the surest way to split the conservative vote.

Newt will say whatever thinks will give him support he knows the base are unhappy with the President or supposedly upset with him as per the media so he thinks jumping on this bandwagon will gain him grassroots support and popularity. Also gives him more airtime and therefore money.

Gingrich thinks this current amnesty for illegals bill is bad.

[Yet, it sort of parrots the one that was passed when he was Speaker. Newt speak with forkéd tongue.]

He may have a point how some so called Conservatives have reacted to the immigration position.

It is one thing to disagree with it but many are coming over as all they want is white middle class males.

Newt is NOT impressing me at all; he IS blaming Bush for everything. It is Bush’s fault the border guy let in the TB guy....that is what Newt said. He is also saying we are losing the WOT because Bush is not a good implementor.

Newt is shooting himself in the foot, imho. He is eliminating himself as a Presidential candidate before he even announces his plans. He is not giving any real solutions.....just a lot of gibberish, imho.

It appears to me that he is saying what he is saying for the media attention. He has lost my respect completely.

"Bad" probably understates what is the 'Infectious Hepatitis, Incurable Tuberculosis and Morgellons disease,
Typhoid, Cholera, Plague, Measles, Mumps, Leprosy, Dengue fever, and Polio Importation Act of 2007.'

if the country gets any headway at all on the illegals it will be done one small town at a time by locals not the feds

Exactly.

Maybe the hapless Feds can't find them, but everybody at the local level knows where the live, work, shop, go to school and hang out. They are in plain sight. They are not hiding.

If the local police went after them, most would be gone before next January. In reality, many would just self-deport rather than get arrested. Others might stream to "sanctuary cities" which would likely get fed up with this plague of locusts and have their own citizens revolt on their hands.

It's the political will that's missing, not the opportunity or ability to identify and get rid of most of them. The reality is the Feds just don't have the will to do it. There is too much in it for them (potential votes and money from their backers). So, they have decided to pass laws getting rid of the problem by making what is blatantly illegal become "legal". They're fooling nobody. They're just trying to ram it through before the people finally wake up and the tidal wave of rage hits.

Every one of these dastardly villains should be chased from office in disgrace or fired from their fat bureaucratic jobs and made to actually go to work for a living.

he IS blaming Bush for everything

He is making the mistake that others would be well to avoid. We may not like this immigration bill, but that doesn't mean we have turned our backs on the President. He thinks he is in safe territory with the Bush bashing, but I think he's wrong.

'A good read on the President from Dr. Sanity'

I agree. Everything W has done, he has always told us. I just do not agree with the immigration bill. Technically, it may not be 'amnest', because they do have to pay a fine. It is the REALITY that I don't agree with - I don't think they should become citizens, or get to stay, if they have broken our laws - and no matter how you try to 'pretty it up', they did just that by being illegal immigrants. I don't want to pay for education, health care, or all of their 'extended' families.

Social Security is already a train wreck ready to happen. Adding illegals to it won't help.

In Peggy Noonan’s most recent article in the Wall Street Journal, she acknowledges that she separated herself from supporting President Bush in “January 2005.” I remember the nasty article she wrote about his Inaugural Address. After that article, where she sounded so “holier than thou”, I rarely read her again until this morning, when I checked to see just what she wrote on Friday that has caused so much hoopla.

She is a quasi-conservative, who (it seems to me) from a very middle-class background wants to be invited to all the A list parties in NY, DC and various vacation locales.

Secondly, I believe that she would be singing a very different tune, had she been asked to join the President’s speech-writing team.
