Peggy Noonan and The WSJ Editorial - It's Time to Revolt!
Red State ^ | June 1, 2007

However, now I do not feel alone. Peggy Noonan has a new column up in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal. She has clearly said what has been getting me down. I think I knew what was up, but couldn't put a finger on it. I knew it centered around the immigration debate, and the way our congressional leaders are behaving. That sentiment especially includes Mr. Bush too, but when I read this column, I felt like Charlie Brown yelling at Lucy at her Psychology booth when he yells, "That's it!" when trying to identify why he can't get into the Christmas spirit.

Try this clip on for size :

The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place. This White House thinks its base is stupid and that its heart is in the wrong place.

For almost three years, arguably longer, conservative Bush supporters have felt like sufferers of battered wife syndrome. You don't like endless gushing spending, the kind that assumes a high and unstoppable affluence will always exist, and the tax receipts will always flow in? Too bad! You don't like expanding governmental authority and power? Too bad. You think the war was wrong or is wrong? Too bad.

But on immigration it has changed from "Too bad" to "You're bad."

The president has taken to suggesting that opponents of his immigration bill are unpatriotic--they "don't want to do what's right for America." His ally Sen. Lindsey Graham has said,

They are willingly leaving Mexcio to come to the US. And most of them are not on welfare in the US. So cutting welfare programs for illegal immigrant will not force the vast majority of them to leave.

Read my post again. I did not say they are receiving welfare. I said government services. There is a difference.

The government is not going to go after 100's of thousands of small businesses who hire illegal immigrants

But it most certainly could, and in fact that's what they are proposing to do in this amnesty bill -- can't hire anyone not in the Z-visa database. So the fact that they refuse to do it now is all the more reason for skepticism over this sham bill.

Really you think that you know something about the John Birch Society? You have been manipulated.

I see someone who rides to the sound of Pat Buchanan's gums.

There is no "free-trade" with China and you should know that.

Free trade doesn't involve only China.

You should probably turn of your TV long enough to have an original thought.

Oh, boy.  The adolescent vapors.  Let me guess.... I'm a doody head.

It really ticks me off to hear people blackball someone because they have been told to.

Who told me to blackball anyone?

You probably think that McCarthy was wrong.

McCarthy knew what he was talking about.  He just got too full of himself.

;And the hearings were just awful, right?

They did what needed doing right up until they didn't.

That's what the liberals want you to think. But it is not true.

I don't think that.  You know what happens when you assume, don't you?

We have the names and the files now. We know that FDR's VP Wallace was a KGB agent. That's why they dumped him for Truman. They knew it too. But we've had 60 years of lies to listen too. And you think the Birch Society is laughable. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

The John Birch society is living in the fifties.  What's your excuse?

What really and truly gets under my skin is that these law-breakers are going to be rewarded for breaking the law. When you reward bad behavior, it only spurs more bad behavior. And I have absolutely NO confidence that the Feds will suddenly get serious about border enforcement once this travesty is past. In 20 years, President Jeb Bush will be pushing yet another amnesty bill, this time for 50 million illegals.

BINGO

Go to stopthenau.org

and check out thenewamerican.com

And check out fina-nafi.org for a glimpse of the future if we sit on our hands much longer.

And getbehind Duncan Hunter. He is the only on with a patriot's background who is one these issues. (Nothing against Ron Paul)

I wish I knew, I wish I knew!!!! Posing a problem without a solution is not the way, I know! Maybe, after some time an answer will begin to appear!

“Buzz words are not going to work.”

I assume you mean ‘rule of law.’ Those aren’t buzz words. Those are what seperate us from chaos and anarchy.

I responded to your scare tactic economy claim in 220.

There have been million of illegal immigrants for over 2 generations so it is not a new phenomena under President Bush.

Our economy is better than ever and unemployment rate is at a low 4.5%, those Latinos cleaning the bathroom, painting the homes, constructing the homes, taking out the garbage, busing the tables in a restaurant, and filling your car tank with gas are not wrecking the economy. Many small businesses have flourished on Latino workers and no one is going to take it away from them.

The best you guys can do is to stop this illegal immigration bill instead of fixing it to make it better but by you doing so you get absolutely nothing from you want you will get, absolutely nothing, everything will be the same as it is now and even worse. You will be keep whining about it from now until you die but it will not be resolved according to what you wish, the opposite will be true.

The buck stops with us. We have fallen into a trap which might not allow any escape. That trap is the NO COMPROMISE trap. Change , real change doesn`t come easy to Washington and, until we signal that we will accept some reasonable compromises that include some sort of path to citizenship we are going to be living with Tancredo amnesty for a long time.

Do you not see that he has completely turned his back on conservatives? I don’t believe in blind loyalty , not even for Bush . Principles above personalities.

Those laws that you are talking about ARE NOT GOING TO BE APPLIED by any President or any Government, so quoting them in an unrealistic scenario render them Buzz Words.

I responded to your weak response to my post 220.

If you take a peek at my 'about' page, you'll see that I worked for a corrupt agency that basically got a pass from the Feds.

In that county, everyone who had a serious interest in general aviation or was employed by LE biz knew what was going on.

If you read Dark Alliance by Gary Webb or Compromised, Bush, Clinton, Cocaine, by Terry Reed, it will bring you up to speed.

And who could forget that zoombie walk Bush I did during his re-election campaign? As a side note, I found Free Republic in an attempt to understand what was going on back in the eighties. I've always been active in Republican politics as I believe abortion is murder of an innocent child. I've had the opportunity to me and speak with some interesting folks.

(And yes, I saved old court cases, civil case filings ... a little life insurance so to speak.)

If you don't want to go to the library, then at least you could google "Bbottoms Free Republic".

And everyone knows, this is just rhetoric. They aren't really voting illegally too, are they? After all, it's not like they have a track-record of disregarding our laws...

And the liberals did not find this trick before of getting few thousands illegal immigrants to vote in elections and win every election! If it works they would have used it long time ago and won every elections, but fortunately it has not worked and it will never work.

And I suppose that Alexandr Litvinenko was living in the 50's up until he was poisoned by Putin and the nonexistant KGB, or should I say FSB?

Perhap I got you wrong but you sound like you enjoy dismissing people just out of habit

The John Birch Society has been maligned for some time now but they are a very informative bunch of patriots.

Buchanan is right about some things and very wrong about others. The point is no one who bucks the elites is going to get heard.

It seems that every four years we get to choose between Tweedle-dumb and Tweedle-dee. WE have to get in it before the choice is made for us again. I think that FredThompson is just another internationalist in conservative clothing. I wish someone would prove otherwise. We need a break soon!
