Peggy Noonan and The WSJ Editorial - It's Time to Revolt!
Red State ^ | June 1, 2007

However, now I do not feel alone. Peggy Noonan has a new column up in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal. She has clearly said what has been getting me down. I think I knew what was up, but couldn't put a finger on it. I knew it centered around the immigration debate, and the way our congressional leaders are behaving. That sentiment especially includes Mr. Bush too, but when I read this column, I felt like Charlie Brown yelling at Lucy at her Psychology booth when he yells, "That's it!" when trying to identify why he can't get into the Christmas spirit.

Try this clip on for size :

The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place. This White House thinks its base is stupid and that its heart is in the wrong place.

For almost three years, arguably longer, conservative Bush supporters have felt like sufferers of battered wife syndrome. You don't like endless gushing spending, the kind that assumes a high and unstoppable affluence will always exist, and the tax receipts will always flow in? Too bad! You don't like expanding governmental authority and power? Too bad. You think the war was wrong or is wrong? Too bad.

But on immigration it has changed from "Too bad" to "You're bad."

The president has taken to suggesting that opponents of his immigration bill are unpatriotic--they "don't want to do what's right for America." His ally Sen. Lindsey Graham has said,

President Bush is telling us to go screw off. I wonder if he realizes he's destroying the GOP? I wonder if he cares?

No, upchuck, he doesn't care.

This whole website is overrun with DU and liberal hacks posing as conservatives and stirring up trouble with lies and half-truths. It’s a well practiced old Stalinist tactic.

Jorge Bush is loyal to the Bush family. The RNC was a vehicle to peddle there agenda.

How is he doing so when he is not even enforcing the border, how can you have a secure nation if you are allowing vast numbers of foreign nationals move unmolested into your cities then insult and ridicule citizens who want to enforce their own laws. How many technicals armed with mortars snuck across the border, well more than I want because the President doesn’t believe in enforcing the border.

You honestly believe that they won’t molest their underage girls and breed with them as a route to citizenship. You obviously don’t talk to those that work with them directly.
It’s sickening and it’s already happening, so your just going to let it keep going and say it’s inevitable because you were loyal and expecting your master to deal with it then come in and save the day and say that he is sooo smart.

My way of life is those outlined in the consitution one that we both swore to protect. I was accountable to him and he is accountable to the people, he is refusing to acknowledge that the people have a right to criticize him. He is calling them misguided and is making excuses.

a fantasy world like you people where you see millions of illegal immigrants deported directly or indirectly.

Mexico got them to leave voluntarily. So why can't we???

I saw the same behavior in the Clinton administration

You're right. Linda Chavez sounded for all the world like James Carville or some other poisonous clintonoid reptile.

The vast majority of illegal immigrants here will not become US citizens. In order for them to becomes US citizens they need to go back to their home country, apply for a Green Card, wait 3-4 years to get the Green Card if they got accepted, immigrate back to the US on a Green Card status, live on the Green Card status for 5 years before applying for citizenship and then wait a year or 2 before they get the citizenship.

The vast overwhelming illegal immigrants will not take all this risk but they will opt for the renewable working visa with a fee where they can work and travel and forth to their countries.

Our side need to stop this stupid and unrealistic scare tactic about millions of new voters in the democrat party and make it look like it is happening in 2008, where in reality the vast majority of illegal immigrants will not become US citizen and those small minority who will become US citizens are not going to become so before 2017 i.e they will not be eligible to vote before the 2020 elections. Besides the participation of Latinos in voting has been always historically small.

There is no method we can use to make them leave, just understand it. Jailing and fining the employers will not work either, period.

Free trade = capitalism Fair trade = protectionism

That is just plain wrong. Notice the word "trade" is still in "Fair trade"?

All "Fair trade" is is a rule-set that recognizes that:

  1. We make those whom we trade with quite rich, so we don't want to trade with those who work against our interests and human standards;
  2. Trade should be trade, and in the medium-term a country we deal with should import as many U.S. goods as they export to us; and
  3. There are capabilities we need to keep under our control for the sake of our defense and basic human needs. (I.e. never let a boycott/blockade cause defeat, famine, or pestilence.)

That isn't regressive at all - unless you have a thing for Chinese dictators!

I’m waiting eagerly to hear from the Master Nailer — Mark Steyn.

Given how much Dubya has succeeded in baiting the Republican base during his 2nd, term, I think I'm going to have to borrow that phrase from you and call President Bush the "Master Baiter."

Cheers!

We are like Charlie Brown. The GOP establishment is Lucy. And they're experts at pulling the football away.

The GOP sucks. I'm sick to death of them. I'm seriously about ready for a new party.

Oh Please. Peggy Noonan has been on a personal vendetta against GW since she was turned down for a speech writer job by him.

Even if true, it doesn't mean this column is wrong. With elections so close, how many votes can the GOP afford to lose?

Really you think that you know something about the John Birch Society? You have been manipulated.

There is no "free-trade" with China and you should know that.

You should probably turn of your TV long enough to have an original thought. It really ticks me off to hear people blackball someone because they have been told to.

You probably think that McCarthy was wrong. And the hearings were just awful, right? That's what the liberals want you to think. But it is not true. We have the names and the files now. We know that FDR's VP Wallace was a KGB agent. That's why they dumped him for Truman. They knew it too.

But we've had 60 years of lies to listen too. And you think the Birch Society is laughable. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
