Peggy Noonan and The WSJ Editorial - It's Time to Revolt!
Red State ^ | June 1, 2007

However, now I do not feel alone. Peggy Noonan has a new column up in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal. She has clearly said what has been getting me down. I think I knew what was up, but couldn't put a finger on it. I knew it centered around the immigration debate, and the way our congressional leaders are behaving. That sentiment especially includes Mr. Bush too, but when I read this column, I felt like Charlie Brown yelling at Lucy at her Psychology booth when he yells, "That's it!" when trying to identify why he can't get into the Christmas spirit.

Try this clip on for size :

The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place. This White House thinks its base is stupid and that its heart is in the wrong place.

For almost three years, arguably longer, conservative Bush supporters have felt like sufferers of battered wife syndrome. You don't like endless gushing spending, the kind that assumes a high and unstoppable affluence will always exist, and the tax receipts will always flow in? Too bad! You don't like expanding governmental authority and power? Too bad. You think the war was wrong or is wrong? Too bad.

But on immigration it has changed from "Too bad" to "You're bad."

The president has taken to suggesting that opponents of his immigration bill are unpatriotic--they "don't want to do what's right for America." His ally Sen. Lindsey Graham has said,

Not by the millions yet, when they DO start mobilizing and becoming highly organized then god help this nation. Tell me though, what elections would we have won if it was not for illegal interference by just thousands of votes, not millions.

“However for those illegal immigrants who are here, they are here to stay period and no one can remove them directly or indirectly.”

We removed the Brits from here...and they came with guns to enforce their presence and their will.

If the rule of law is to prevail, then we have no choice but to remove the illegals. And that includes the illegal muslims like the one’s who recently plotted to attack Fort Dix. We don’t have a clue how many of them there are. But they will get amnesty too if this bill passes without veto.

Peggy Noonan is right. The GOP establishment did not learn anything from the 2006 elections.

Comment:

I am beginning to wonder if we were not supposed to learn anything from such an inept campaign.

Maybe Hellary Klinton is somewhat right about a vast conspiracy but not by true American patriots but by the open borders one world crowd.

Tell me how Mexico gets them to leave, and you'll have your answer

Is this an oxymoron, what type of silly question is that. They are willingly leaving Mexcio to come to the US. And most of them are not on welfare in the US. So cutting welfare programs for illegal immigrant will not force the vast majority of them to leave.

The government is not going to go after 100's of thousands of small businesses who hire illegal immigrants, gas stations, restuarants, cleaning crews, small construction firms. They will not after them because they will wreck the economy.

I supported that jerk at the protests in 2000
and then I campaigned for the SOB in 2004
only to have him turn around and call ME unpatriotic
because I don’t support illegal immigration?
F*** him.

That opinion definitely resonates with me, too.

I do, but if they are going to do so we would have seen millions of illegal immigrants voting in every elections but it is not happening.

What do you want to bet...

Then why are “conservatives” allowing this defacto amnesty to continue? Nothing passes, nothing changes except more illegals. I`m from the farm and I still don`t understand why people can`t understand that.

It hasn’t gotten bad enough for enough people we need moderates to join us...many people left California and Florida to escape the cesspools and now the cesspools are moving north and east. This bill may push the citizens over the top. First thing we need to change is the President, we need one to stand up and tell illegals they are not welcome here instead of waving them on saying amnesty is coming come get it. The buck stops at the top and it has taken many a long time to figure that out, but the cards are clearly on the table and the stakes are very high.

Why anyone on the right would trade a less than perfect conservative or even moderate for a raging neo-socialist like Hillary or any of the other democrats is beyond my comprehension. But then most of us on the right wouldn’t. A leftist would.

Back on your post, why would W want Hillary to follow him? Do you think she has the pictures or knows where the bodies are buried? Facts are facts but then you’re not going to find many on most public internet forums.

Buzz words are not going to work. The government is not going to go after the small businesses who hire the majority of illegal immigrants. They are not going to go after the restaurants, gas stations, small constructions firms, etc... No President and no government will do it because it will destroy the economy.

And most of them are not on welfare in the US.

Oh, good, so it's only 45% then. Well, let's welcome them in!

So cutting welfare programs for illegal immigrant will not force the vast majority of them to leave.

Maybe not, but it will show them that the gravy train is ending, and that they'll actually have to follow our rules and respect our culture if they wish to partake of our nation's bounty. Is that too much to ask? That citizenship mean something, and offer some small advantages?

We can’t win the war on drugs, on poverty, on most things the Government does. How will we win the war on illegals!? The GOP is imploding and there is no saving anything now. The DEM’s, will have unlimited power soon when this bill passes. They will win in 08. Then with their base they will keep control. Only a miracle will prevent it. I think we have run out of those, and run out of time.

Did you notice that Florida and California gained seats in Congress because their population increased, a population of US citizens. I do not know about many people leaving FL and CA but I know about many people going to live there, specially in Florida.

In the midst of hysteria and high emotions, logic and reason is dead my FRiend.

Is it logical to believe that the same government that said that the "one time" amnesty of 1987 would solve the problem forever, will be able to solve the much bigger problem that they created with another amnesty in 2007?

I don't know about you, but to me, that doesn't sound like "logic". It sounds more like outright lies. And far from being "logical", we'd be idiots to accept them at their word this time.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I bet you a 100 dollar if you show me that millions of illegal immigrants voted in past elections. If you prove this you do not even need my 100 bucks, you will be so rich for uncovering the worst scandal in US history.

The Z visas can be revoked with a change in law, but those that are granted permanent residency may be able to stay along with their anchor babies. (would be much harder to repeal that part) The government can pretty much do whatever it wants unless they become us citizens. The courts would have to decide the issue for LAPR’s.

Wait till they cut your social security in half like they did to some with the Windfall Elimination Provision and you’ll see the courts sided with the government.

“They will not after them because they will wreck the economy.”

That’s a scare tactic. As if America had no economy before millions of illegals. If you can recall, that’s why they came here...it was our successful economy.

I believe our history has proven we can have a successful economy without millions of illegal immigrants.
