Qaeda vows "seas of blood" over Lebanon Palestinians

DUBAI (Reuters) - A group calling itself al Qaeda's wing in the Levant vowed to carry out bombings in Lebanon and attacks on Christians unless Beirut pulled its army away from Palestinian refugee camps.

"We warn you for the last time, after which there will be nothing apart from seas of blood," said a speaker identified as the military leader of the group in a video posted on Friday by a media arm used by Islamist groups including Qaeda in Iraq.

"What we want is that you order the Christian Lebanese army to pull its men from around all Palestinian camps and the Nahr al-Bared Camp in particular," he said addressing Maronite Christian Partiarch Cadrinal Nasrallah Sfeir.

"If you do not stop we will wrench out your hearts with ... bombs," said the speaker whose face was covered with a chequered head dress and who had rifle magazines around his torso.

There have been three bomb attacks in Lebanon this week since clashes between the army and the al Qaeda-inspired Fatah al-Islam militant group erupted this week at Nahr al-Bared camp.

At least 33 soldiers and 25 militants have been killed in what is the worst internal violence since the 1975-1990 civil war. Thousands have fled the Nahr al-Bared camp, where sources say at least 11 civilians have been killed and 100 wounded.

The speaker described the army's campaign as a "brutal ... crusade under the pretext of fighting terrorism" and argued that Palestinians in Lebanon have always suffered discrimination.

The Qaeda campaign would target businesses "starting with tourism and ending with other means of making your rotten living", said the militant who did not sound Lebanese.

Addressing Sfeir, the militant said: "Leash your dogs away from our kin and stop the fire of your canons, or else... No crusader will be safe in Lebanon after today. As you hit you will be hit."

A fragile truce held between the army and Fatah al-Islam militants on Friday despite sporadic overnight clashes.

The United States and Arab allies sent military aid to Lebanon on Friday and the Lebanese army deployed extra troops to the refugee camp.

"We welcome a battle, and do not be fooled by the support of apostate Arabs to you," the militant said.

Check you facts. Technically, they may have cut off aid to Hammas, but they are still funding the PA to the tune of $640M this year.

Alleged Qaida Group Threatens Tourists over Camp Siege

**************************

A group claiming to be al-Qaida's wing in the Levant threatened to target tourists in Lebanon unless the army lifts its siege off Nahr al-Bared camp, according to an Internet statement posted on Friday.
"If you do not stop... we will use bombs to target your trade starting with tourism," said the statement posted in the name of al-Qaida in al-Sham on a website often used by Islamic militants.

The Washington-based SITE Institute, which monitors militant trafficking, said Friday it also obtained the 7-minute video allegedly from al-Qaida in al-Sham — an Arabic name for the region of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

If the shelling continues, "Christians in Lebanon will suffer and tourism and trade will also suffer," said the obscure group, which is not known to have carried out any attacks. Christians are a large minority in Lebanon.

"If you do not stop firing on our family I warn that... after today not one Christian in Lebanon will be safe... Just as you strike, you will be struck," added the statement.

The group called on the Lebanese army to pull back from around the northern Palestinian refugee camp where troops are fighting with Fatah al-Islam fighters since Sunday.

The statement described the army's campaign as a "crusade under the pretext of fighting terrorism."

In an Internet statement posted on Thursday, the Army of Islam in Gaza called on jihadists to rally behind Fatah al-Islam.

The group says it is holding BBC journalist Alan Johnston who was kidnapped in Gaza City on March 12.(AFP-AP-Naharnet)

Let us hope the US does not drop the ball on this one. If the Lebanese army is willing to have a go at it, we should support them in their part on the GWOT.

I think the figure I gave was actually over two years, but we still have considerable aid flowing to the PA.

The article you cited was dated prior to the election of Hamas. You had accused the Bush administration of ‘giving massive amounts of aid to the PA’. Where did you obtain this information from? Also, are you accusing the Bush administration of violating S.2370? Hamas has not ‘ publicly acknowledged the Jewish state of Israel’s right to exist’. When you say, ‘check your facts’, what facts are you referring to?

Ok—here’s something more recent. Again, the PA is getting lots of US aid. Technically, its just not going to Hammas.

From the article:

It is a little-known fact that international aid to the Palestinian territories has actually risen since Palestinians elected a Hamas government in January, 2006. According to International Monetary Fund and UN figures, the Palestinian areas received a total of US$1.2-billion in official aid in 2006, up from US$1-billion in 2005.

America’s contribution rose from US$400-million in 2005 to US$468-million in 2006. Aid from the European Union and other international organizations also increased handsomely, and the UN has called for still greater increases in aid in 2007.

Look at the incentives that have been created for the Palestinians: vote for terrorism, get an increase in your foreign aid. The Palestinian areas now receive more than US$300 per person, per year, making them the most aid-dependent population on Earth. (The people of sub-Saharan Africa receive only $44 per person per year.)

Really, they are so big on the “fleas of a thousand camels” and other threats, they issue a Fat-Wa on everything that comes down the pike. In fact every one of them that comes down the pike is an Iman issuing many fatwas. Is there an office of Official Islam Threats somewhere that tracks all this stuff. Is any Fatwa ever stamped “Completed” or “Canceled”? And is there a degree in Imanism, or do all these guys self certify? I really would like to know.

“Again, the PA is getting lots of US aid. “

I think a more accurate word would be ‘was’ rather than ‘is’. S.2370 did not go into effect until December of 2006:

...the most popular course at Jihad Tech.

Now, I am imagining a course guide and orientation materials for students. "Here at Jihad Tech, we offer the finest education in wearing balaclavas, screaming threats in front of CNN cameras, explosives, camel molestation..."

At least four U.S. and Arab military supply planes arrived at Beirut airport carrying ammunition and other equipment from U.S. depots in the region, security sources said. At least two more flights were scheduled
Arab planes also involved? Must be from Gulf states. And I really mean it this time, g'night all. ;')

Hyperbole 101 has to be the most popular course at Jihad Tech.

Hyperbole or rodomontade, which began life depicting “the boastful Saracen king of Algiers.”

What strange choices of words. Sounds kind of high pitched and desperate. I think they usually disparage the strength of their opponents, but here they are validating it.

Sounds like the militants are getting their butts handed to them.

Must be upset because they were bombing them for ten years.

That's the reason Ron Paul stated they attacked us.

Let me tell you bout ahab the arab, the sheik of the burning sand,
He had emeralds and rubies just a-dripping off a him and a ring on every finger of his hand.
He wore a big old turban wrapped around his head, a scimitar by his side
And every evening about midnight hed jump on his camel named clyde.
And ride silently through the night to the sultans tent
Where he would secretly meet up with fatima of the seven veils.
She was the swinginest number one dancer in the sultans whole harem.
It was like him and her they had a little adam going, you see,
Behind the old buggers back.
And you could hear him talking to his camel
And as he rode out across the dunes past the oil wells
His voice would cut through the still night desert air
And hed say, maaaaaaa oyy oyy oyy !!!
Which is arabic for oh, baby ...
And clyde would say, yewrah raaaoww uh uh uh uh uh!

Well, he brought his camel to a screeching halt at the rear of fatimas tent,
Jumped off clyde, snuck around the corner and into the tent he went.
There he saw fatima laying on a, on a zebra skin rug,
With rings on her fingers, bells on her toes and a bone in her nose, eeeeyye.

There she was friends and neighbors, laying there in all her radiant beauty,
She was eating on a raisin, had a grape, and an apricot, and a pomegranate,
A bowl of chitterlings, two bananas, three hershey bars, four burritos,
Sipping on a frozen margarita, listening to a transistor radio,
Watching the grand ole opry, reading rolling stone magazine and singing rocky mountain high.
And ahab walked up to her and he said, yeeeiiaaaahowowhidehowdihi!
Which is arabic for, lets boogie again like we did last summer, baby.
And she said, oh, ahab, ah ha uh, ahab. crazy, baby.

And thats the story about ahab the arab, the sheik of the burning sand,
He had emeralds and rubies just a-dripping off a him and a ring on every finger of his hand.
He wore a big old turban wrapped around his head, a scimitar by his side,
And every evening about midnight hed jump on his camel named clyde ...
