DUBAI (Reuters) - A group calling itself al Qaeda's wing in the Levant vowed to carry out bombings in Lebanon and attacks on Christians unless Beirut pulled its army away from Palestinian refugee camps.
"We warn you for the last time, after which there will be nothing apart from seas of blood," said a speaker identified as the military leader of the group in a video posted on Friday by a media arm used by Islamist groups including Qaeda in Iraq.
"What we want is that you order the Christian Lebanese army to pull its men from around all Palestinian camps and the Nahr al-Bared Camp in particular," he said addressing Maronite Christian Partiarch Cadrinal Nasrallah Sfeir.
"If you do not stop we will wrench out your hearts with ... bombs," said the speaker whose face was covered with a chequered head dress and who had rifle magazines around his torso.
There have been three bomb attacks in Lebanon this week since clashes between the army and the al Qaeda-inspired Fatah al-Islam militant group erupted this week at Nahr al-Bared camp.
At least 33 soldiers and 25 militants have been killed in what is the worst internal violence since the 1975-1990 civil war. Thousands have fled the Nahr al-Bared camp, where sources say at least 11 civilians have been killed and 100 wounded.
The speaker described the army's campaign as a "brutal ... crusade under the pretext of fighting terrorism" and argued that Palestinians in Lebanon have always suffered discrimination.
The Qaeda campaign would target businesses "starting with tourism and ending with other means of making your rotten living", said the militant who did not sound Lebanese.
Addressing Sfeir, the militant said: "Leash your dogs away from our kin and stop the fire of your canons, or else... No crusader will be safe in Lebanon after today. As you hit you will be hit."
A fragile truce held between the army and Fatah al-Islam militants on Friday despite sporadic overnight clashes.
The United States and Arab allies sent military aid to Lebanon on Friday and the Lebanese army deployed extra troops to the refugee camp.
"We welcome a battle, and do not be fooled by the support of apostate Arabs to you," the militant said.

I'm glad the Lebonese are finally giving the muzzies some lead poisoning, but what got them to do it this time?
Back when they had Isreal hitting the muzzies from one side, the Lebanese Army was shaking in their boots and saying they couldn't disarm their moo-slimes.

Al Qaeda's mean their own blood.
The more of these crazed jihadists are quickly dispatched to their moon god, the better for Western civilization.

Hmmm. Syria and Hezbollah havent been able to seize the government away from the secular Sunnis and Christians, then Al Qaeda suddenly appears out of nowhere. This smells like Iran and Syria are behind it.Sure does...the DemonicRats are going to get confused.....their story line is getting tangled....

News services reported on Friday the arrival of at least 4 miliatry cargo planes to Beirut International Airport.
"At least four U.S. and Arab military supply planes arrived at Beirut airport carrying ammunition and other equipment from U.S. depots in the region, security sources said. At least two more flights were scheduled".
Meanwhile, the Lebanese news website,
Naharnet, reported that a United Arab Emirates air force plane had landed late Thursday night with the first supplies. According to the site, two more flights were expected to arrive from Egypt on Friday, with the total number of emergency airlifts expected to reach eight, according to a Pentagon official.
Naharnet also quoted a U.S. military official as having said that "the Lebanese government had asked the U.S. to expedite a shipment of a broad range of equipment and ammunition already in the pipeline for delivery. All of the materials en route had previously been requested, the agreements were already in place, and they were in the delivery process, the official said".

Lebanon refugee camp profiles - Map & Facts
Tuesday, 22 May, 2007 @ 5:03 PM
Beirut- Of the original 16 official camps in Lebanon, three were destroyed during the years of conflict and were never rebuilt or replaced: Nabatieh camp in south Lebanon, and Dikwaneh and Jisr el-Basha camps in the Beirut area.
Most of the displaced refugees in Lebanon, approximately 6,000 families, are originally from these three camps. A fourth camp, Gouraud in Baalbeck, was evacuated many years ago and its inhabitants were transferred to Rashidieh camp in the Tyre area.
Today, all 12 official refugee camps in the Lebanon Field suffer from serious problems - no proper infrastructure, overcrowding, poverty and unemployment. The Lebanon Field has the highest percentage of Palestine refugees who are living in abject poverty and who are registered with the Agency's "special hardship" programme.
The number of Palestine refugees registered with UNRWA in Lebanon is currently 394,532, or an estimated 10 per cent of the population of Lebanon, a small country which is now quite densely populated.
Palestine refugees in Lebanon face specific problems. They do not have social and civil rights, and have very limited access to the government's public health or educational facilities and no access to public social services. The majority rely entirely on UNRWA as the sole provider of education, health and relief and social services. Considered as foreigners, Palestine refugees are prohibited by law from working in more than 70 trades and professions. This has led to a very high rate of unemployment amongst the refugee population.
Popular committees in the camps representing the refugees regularly discuss these problems with the Lebanese Government or with UNRWA officials, and they call for better living conditions for the refugees.
Name of camps and number of Registered refugees

Thanks, Ernest. Looks like the U.S. and the region are on top of this - a proxy war between Iran/Syria/Hezbollah/AQ and the rest of the Middle East.

**********************************EXCERPT*******************************
The Siniora government has the right idea. One cannot negotiate for peaceful coexistence with terrorists. They need to eradicate this group before it spreads, a dynamic the Lebanese people have seen on a number of occasions now. If they have them trapped in Nahr el-Bared, they need to finish the job and wipe them out.
By the way, what happened to the UN in all of this? Nahr el-Bared is a UN refugee camp, and they're supposed to keep the inhabitants disarmed.

From:

Wednesday, May 25th, 2007):
This is a post I started preparing some time ago. In light of recent developments I thought it would be a good time to publish it with the following updates reflecting the current situation:
-
Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa,
revealed yesterday that some Arab states had already begun delivery of weapons and ammunitions in support of the Lebanese Army's efforts to combat an insurgency launched in the Nahr el-Bared camp by Syrian-sponsored fundamentalist group, Fatah al-Islam.
-
The Unites States has prepared an emergency $280 million military aide package in response to an
urgent request by the Lebanese government in light of its confrontation with gunmen in the Nahr el-Bared camp. Reports indicate that $220 million of the funds have been earmarked for the Army while $60 will go to the ISF.
Below you will find (a portion of) the original post.
Lebanese Army Equipment Upgrades:
- 50 Land Rover utility vehicles from the UK
- 20 (of 285) Humvees from the US,
- 9 Gazelle helicopters from the UAE
- 5 10-meter naval patrol craft from the UAE
- 5 15-meter naval patrol craft from the UAE
- $39 million in 2006 used to purchase 12 5-tonne trucks, 4 Bell 212 helicopters and repair of Lebanese Air Forces 23 Bell UH-1H helicopters
- 45 Leopard-1 Tanks from Belgium
- A minimum of 20 M109 155 mm self-propelled Howitzers from Belgium
- 2 36-meter naval patrol craft with blue-water capability from Germany
- 265 Humvees from the US
