McCain responds to Obama in tough enough, if predictable, language:
"While Senator Obama's two years in the U.S. Senate certainly entitle him to vote against funding our troops, my service and experience combined with conversations with military leaders on the ground in Iraq lead me to believe that we must give this new strategy a chance to succeed because the consequences of failure would be catastrophic to our nation's security."
But, McCain being McCain, he can't help himself and goes the next step in the statement's kicker:
"By the way, Senator Obama, it's a 'flak' jacket, not a 'flack' jacket."
Which is to say, "there is only one of us in this argument who has ever worn the uniform." (my words)
And if you still don't get it, a McCain aide blows away the anthill with, well, a rocket.
"Obama wouldn't know the difference between an RPG and a bong."

4 hours!?
I would cue all of the professionally offended right now.
There is now a class of media types who live simply to act offended at virtually any remark, implication or omission of any kind.
LOL! SCORE, McCain! I bet he’d be great at a roast.
AND, from the comments at the Politico website:
“Both get you bombed.”
Or in the National Guard, like Dan Quayle. Or was in the Congress, like Dan Quayle. Or who served a full term as a Senator, like Dan Quayle.
Pwah! (I never hear of Lucy anywhere, seems to have disappeared)
I don't like McCain, but that's a load of crap. Anyone seriously seeking the nomination would look like an idiot if they spent the next 12 months attacking only Hillary. In fact, in the specific case of Obama, imagine he was the nominee, and McCain was our nominee. What would the press and the Dems say about him simply ignoring Obama for months? They'd say he obbviously has racial prejudices, and claim that he really thought Obama could never be nominated because he's black.
What difference does it make to a democrat? Time in the senate is less important than party affiliation.
Sounds like an aide, not McCain himself.
Good stuff.
Not a McCain fan by any means but it is a great quote.
If they are on MSNBC, they wouldn't know a dictionary from a joint wrapper.
Ha! Flak comes from the German word "fliegerabwehrkanone" a type of German anti-aircraft gun.
"Flack" is an American singer, who sang Obama's theme song, "Where is the love?"
He doesn’t mince words, I’ll give him that.
‘This is not presidential’
...very Vice-Presidential though.
B.S. but no surprise, MSNBC has his back, LOL.
RPG and a bong - either one you get blown away
LOL - That’s awesome!
Good line, rational thoughts. Maybe Fred will should make McCain Sec. of Dse.
“Not true. You can sign up for Lucianne.com ~ just no one is there to send out the email with your special password the next day.
Thing’s been on auto so long I can’t really remember when a meaningful post was entered.’
Hmmm. Then they’ve recently changed the policy, that had a ‘large waiting list’ which many have come to understand is a means of keeping out those that don’t march to madame L’s tune.
Perhaps I’m mistaken...
