McCain responds to Obama in tough enough, if predictable, language:
"While Senator Obama's two years in the U.S. Senate certainly entitle him to vote against funding our troops, my service and experience combined with conversations with military leaders on the ground in Iraq lead me to believe that we must give this new strategy a chance to succeed because the consequences of failure would be catastrophic to our nation's security."
But, McCain being McCain, he can't help himself and goes the next step in the statement's kicker:
"By the way, Senator Obama, it's a 'flak' jacket, not a 'flack' jacket."
Which is to say, "there is only one of us in this argument who has ever worn the uniform." (my words)
And if you still don't get it, a McCain aide blows away the anthill with, well, a rocket.
"Obama wouldn't know the difference between an RPG and a bong."

And the difference between Obama and McCain is that Obama has a chance to be his party’s nominee and McCain doesn’t.
This is not presidential.
Next week, we shall hear McCain’s “history of racism”.
Bingo
Bango
Bong go
Bump
“flack” is an alternate spelling, according to the on-air person on MSNBC just now.
Actually, Obama brags about his drug use history in one of his books. He wears it like a badge of honor. It is hardly racist to quote his own words.
‘Guy can’t be trusted.’
Yep. I wonder how many posters here remember Lucy Goldbergs initial support for McCain back in 1999. She went to great lengths back then to get her ‘gang’ to overlook McCain’s obvious flaws, and the fact his wife was wearing what was called the ‘hillary pin’ everywhere she went...remember Hillary Clinton was wearing those God awful things during her first run for the Senate.
McCain’s wife took to wearing an exact duplicate as I recall, and Lucy tried to splain it all away for months on end.
Then the purge came, and nobody has been allowed to sign up for that forum since.
Slammed!
If they are on MSNBC, they wouldn't know a dictionary from a joint wrapper.
‘I like a witty put-down as well as the next guy, but ...
This is not presidential.’
Thus McCain.
And he wasn't even in Viet Nam...
“This is not presidential.”
That’s ok, because he isn’t going to be President anyway.
And he probably knows it.
Yep.
I want to like McCain.
God knows he served and suffered for his country and he has some good policies...
Too bad he’s unstable and doesn’t respect free speech.
Obama is dying to respond that he knows the difference the RPG gets you high all by itself but a bong needs to be Monicaized.
Thing's been on auto so long I can't really remember when a meaningful post was entered.
Well last time they put up a 1 term (unable to be reelected) senator as VP.
You’re right. It’s a good one!
I'm by no means an Obama fan, but the Republicans once nominated a guy who's only Federal experience was one term in the house...
Most of them probably know what a Phillies Blunt cigar is, but not that it can be smoked “as is”.
