Multiple Senate sources tell RedState that there is no actual immigration bill.

Contrary to earlier reports originating with Senator Kennedy, no bill presently exists and probably won't until tomorrow at the earliest. The lawyers are still behind closed doors putting it together.

Most troubling, Senate sources tell RedState that the bill probably will not be online in its final form until *after* the Senate has voted on it.

This is so depressing. I’ve read that Reid is a real master parliamentary style procedure. I guess that is how he got his job as Majority Leader.

McCain has just written his own obituary in this race. I had almost convinced myself that I could begrudgingly vote for him if he got the nomination rather than face Hillary, but this is the last straw. He’s sold his soul on so many issues, but this was a blatant slap to law-abiding citizens. He sucks and I don’t want that man anywhere near the White House—even if it means getting the Hildebeast.

I almost agree...McCain is evil AND crazy, Hillary is just evil. I'm waiting for Fred Thompson to make a move.

The only possible answer is, "Why? Why do we need legislative reform? What's wrong with the current US Code, as amended? Why not simply enforce the laws you have already passed?"

Last session, they did similar. After Specter's committee voted to approve it, they added a few extra amendments at the last minute. Few, if any, Senators actually read the whole bill before they voted on it.

When it got to the House, several Reps actually read it. They didn't like what they found hidden in the fine print or buried deep in the 700+ page document.

FoxNews this morning said that Pelosi has warned the White House/Senate not to even send this monstrosity unless they could promise to deliver at least 70 GOP House votes.

Nooooo!!!! Having spent several years auditing public companies, I’m convinced that Sarbanes Oxley has done nothing but create additional burden on the economy in terms of cost and productivity. We just need a politicians who realize that this amnesty deal is wrong (like DeMint, Hunter, Romney and Thompson) and are willing to shout it from the heavens.

Guest commentation on a radio talkshow last evening said that, once this gets approved, illegals automatically get legal status because their status becomes 'pending'. So they get de facto amnesty immediately while they await for their status to be officially legalized.

Because even some House Dems will vote against it, but more importantly, she fears a voter backlash in 2008, and wants to be able to say, “Look! The Republicans voted for it too!”

So basically, screw the people who’ve properly waited their turn to apply legally in favor of people who, for all intents and purposes, gleefully flashed a middle finger to Uncle Sam as they traipsed across the border. Nice.

I agree about SOX, but its implementation is evidence that W has returned us to being a government with a country instead of the other way around.
