Immigration Deal Would Grant Amnesty to Parents, Spouses and Children
Red State ^ | May 16, 2007

Posted on 05/16/2007 2:33:23 PM PDT by BradtotheBone

UPDATE: Six conservative senators are demanding that Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.) negotiate a “full and open debate” on the immigration legislation.

Senate Democrats and Republicans are working feverishly with the White House to put the finishing touches on an immigration proposal that could be announced later today or tomorrow. The deal would give illegal aliens living in the United States amnesty, according to confidential sources. It would also allow illegal aliens to bring their parents, spouses and children into the United States.

Multiple sources on Capitol Hill with knowledge of the proposal said Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) has been able to extract significant concessions from Republicans. The critical part of the deal is a lengthy section that spells out the provisions related to “Z” visas -- or what my sources described as the “Amnesty Title” of the bill. The “Z” visas would be broken down into three categories as follows:

Z-1 -- Illegal alien present and working in the United States up to January 1, 2007 Z-2 -- Parents and spouses of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category Z-3 -- Children of illegal aliens qualifying under the Z-1 category

Read on ...

One section of the proposal grants these “Z” non-immigrants four-year visas for an indefinite period of time. These visas would be given to people not currently in the United States if they are related to a current illegal worker.

Sources indicate that these aliens, along with their dependents, would be allowed to legally remain in the United States under certain conditions for an indefinite period of time, even if they chose not to pursue the so called “pathway to citizenship.”

The burden of proof would be low for illegal aliens to prove that they were continually illegally present in United States. This provision would reward the illegal alien for proving continual illegal presence and illegal employment in the United States with a “Z” visa. This provision in the Kennedy deal, approved by some Republicans, is clearly amnesty under any definition, according to immigration experts whom I consulted.

The proposal would require illegal immigrants to pay a fine to apply for the “Z” visa, but despite that penalty, conservatives are likely characterize this deal as a major sell out to Kennedy and his pro-amnesty allies.

> The thing is that once they become legal citizens they won’t be cheap labor anymore — they’ll join unions and vote Democrat. So if all the GOP wants is cheap labor for their big donors they’d be far better served keeping the status quo — open borders and illegal aliens.

Thus proving that they are both STUPID **as well as** unAmerican evil bastards.

Honestly!!!!!!

Reminds me of the most darling girl I knew in college. She was from the Netherlands and a bit crunchy, but although she said, "Take care of the Earth" she wasn't insanely militant with her views. She was kind to everyone and fun to be around. She had to return home because she didn't have enough money to pay for enough classes to renew her student visa. Working here wasn't an option, since she was on that visa.

I also knew a guy who's South African roommate overstayed his visa and was deported. How the government could track him down and deport him, yet cannot deport others who overstay their visas or obviously wave it in everyon'e face that they don't have one I cannot understand.

Something’s wrong...

Senator McCain promised “this isn’t amnesty, its a path to citizenship” - surely Senator McCain wouldn’t fib...

The R's may not have enough power to get things through the house and senate but they still have enough power to raise a little hell and block crap like this.

If they don't shoot this down with a filibuster, they have lost my vote, forever.

I will actively vote *against* Republicans candidates for all offices.

I say this as one who remembers boxes of Barry Goldwater literature stacked in the living room, and who manned the Nixon/Agnew literature tables as a teen.

I don't know who these "Republicans" are anymore.

Tell your senators how you feel

I already told them what I thought of their treason yesterday. I'm still waiting for a visit from the FBI. LOL I might have been a weeeee bit too angry when I wrote to them. IF I go missing for a while, you'll know why. ;o)

Amnesty will give us 200 million more third worlders in the next 20 to 30 years. Half the population will be uneducated, speak little english, live in slums, etc. What a great country we are building.

What ever happened to the good ol' political whores we all knew and despised who would sell their souls for a vote?

Them days are gone forever I guess.

Don't know who the repubs think are going to vote for them now. The illegals and Dems I guess.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free needs to be displayed on a welcome sign at Ben Gurion airport for escaping American goyim willing to live and prosper in a Jewish state, if Israel ever becomes interested in protecting her own borders. (Selah)

This would be the perfect way to never win an election again.

you mean us? The Demos will rig it such that they will win almost all races. The newly minted citizens will be "told to vote Demo" if they want goodies. They will gladly give the demos a lock on most races. Our country is doomed.

I think he did me the Republicans. The Mexicans already tilt heavily Dem and the trend is increasing in that direction. Whoever said this is surrender to Mexico had it right. It is also the out and out Socialist permanant victory they have been working towards for years. With this they will have the 50% plus lock and sweep the board for years.

The only good side is that we may now live to see the end result of socialism (system failure) in the USA, not just in France.

... What can we do?

Unfortunately, at this stage in our country's history: nothing. The die is cast.

I'm mad as hell but I realize that the tide has turned against us. Just knuckle down and await what all of us surely know is in store: a socialistic, somewhat police state. The way things are going, we might even find ourselves under Muslim rule, especially if we turn all our defense over to the Democrats, as appears likely.

I have two very basic but large things that console me at this point: I am old and no males in my family lives past 70, so the Grim Reaper will remove me before the SHTF, and I was prescient enough to not have any children, having had a sense many years ago that this Nation might face enormous problems down the road. And friends, those problems are going to be on us, soon!

Follow the money......The media will frame this as a race issue. Its all about the money, always has been.

We should call this bill the"No working class pay raise in our lifetime bill of 2007".

This is ALL about economics, always has been.

Why are the "political donor" class clamoring for more high-teck workers every year? The more foreign teck workers the "political donor class" can get into the country the lower the pay of all teck workers. This problem can be placed at the feet of the greedy, who would sell out America for an extra 1/2% return on investment.

Now imagine the ripple effect on the economy that "an unlimited supply of $8 an hour workers" has on an economy? Ask anyone with a background in economics what happens when supply is increased, then ask what happens when supply is unlimited.

We are being screwed by the politicians who owe all the the 'employer/political donor' class.

Call me what you will, but I do know that you need wealthy people to live in a wealthy country. I suffer no "class envy", but I believe the game is now being rigged by those with the money to rig the system.

I have heard the LIE spoken from the mouth of our president, whom I may add I walked precincts for in the last 2 general elections, "they are just doing the jobs Americans do not want to do".

The truth is simply "Why pay the wages an American would demand when a criminal immigrant would do this job for $8 an hour".

This could be the death of the middle class, IMHO. This is ALL about keeping wages down for the majority for the benefit of the minority.

Now I understand how fascism gets started.......

CALL THE SENATORS

I'll call my Senators...TRAITORS! And one of them is a (liberal) Republican. And yes, I truly believe the President is a traitor to his own people and a disgrace to his oath of office. If we lose in Iraq there will be other battles. Once this Country is taken over by 20-40 million poor, uneducated, unskilled, government dependent, new Democrats, there will be no going back, the tipping point will have been reached and our Countries path to third world socialism will be unalterable.

I curse the scum who will bring this upon my Country.

Has any country in history ever voluntarily allowed 20 million foreigners to become citizens at once? Usually to have this many new people in your nation you have to lose a war. Is the war we lost being unwilling to cut our own grass or pay an extra 10c for a head of lettuce? That's what our politicos tell us.

If the overwhelming majority of people oppose this, but we get it shoved down our throats anyway, what does that say about the effectiveness of the ballot box in 2007?

CWII Ping.
