...God did a nice job on 9/11

Yes. I was really impressed with those who rushed to give aid, or even their own lives, for others.

And there's no telling what good is yet to com com

Rudy had nothing but a knee-jerk reaction. He failed to realize that being the mayor of New York City does not entitle him to rewrite history.

“Yeah, I’m sure that he’d not be able to understand the ramifications of a proposed law. Um, yeah.”

He didn’t understand how much saying he supported the assault weapons ban hurt him tonight.

BTW..Can you even describe what a so called assault weapon is?

I’ll bet he can’t either.

Excellent points.

Romney is good, but something isn’t ringing true with me. The so called 2nd tier is looking prime to me.

Its tangled and twisted at this point 9/11 changed things. We need to step up as a nation

Listen ever since WW2 up till Slick Wille or maybe Poppy Bush we kept a pretty good lid on things by maintaining a strong military posture. 9/11 caught or readiness level at ZILCH. Rather than address those issues and our ever shrinking military our POTUS has been off on a Power Grab kick for newer and bigger government programs that simply make it harder and more intrusive in law abiding citizens lives. His USAG is a menace to our freedoms in his own right. In that respect the terrorist are winning as we are allowing our leaders to scare us into surrendering our freedoms and privacy to Big Brother.

Personally I'm more worried about China than I am Iraq. Iraq has no Army as such, no Air Force as such, and no production capabilities as such. A good Borders and entry policy would take care of a lot of that threat if not all of it on our own soil. But it isn't being done.

Watch Iraq while Bush and others sell us out on places like China. Ever hear of diversion? The war in Iraq should have been over and done two years ago with Iraq in ruins. The longer it drags out the more we pay attention to it and less to other just as serious or more serious issues like Bush selling us out to third world nations like China and Mexico in his insane trade policies.

This is not really a Republican stronghold.

It is a conservative forum at which Republicans like me and Libertarians like whatshisname and a lot of moles egging on divisiveness can chitchat or flame.

Ron Paul wants the states to be able to protect human life.

God-given rights are unalienable. By any person, or any state. The right to life is not a states' rights issue.

-—What part of Mitt Romney’s comment tonight in support of an assault weapons ban do you fail to grasp?-—

I said earlier that I found it disturbing. You, however, are dodging the question. Will you continue to post your lies regarding the bill that Romney signed while governor?

If you oppose Romney because you think his stance on guns is not right, that’s one thing, but to mislead us about the facts is wrong. In fact if Romney stands by his statements of tonight on assault guns, I may join you in opposing him. There is no need to misstate the case, however.

I knew that when I typed it that it’s not exculsively Republican...but it’s enough of a Republican majority that I felt comfortable sayingthat to get my point across.

If the coalition is that dumb not to realize the obvious than we deserve to lose and that’s a shame.

On the contrary, if the GOP is stupid enough to nominate someone like Giuliani, they deserve to lose, and that's the real shame.

There are far more important issues ,like this country’s survival .

Rudy Giuliani is not the right candidate for anyone who cares about the country's survival. He ducked the issue tonight, but he's been a supporter of "sanctuary" for illegal aliens. As mayor, he refused to cooperate with the INS to find and deport illegal aliens. That very attitude is why the police officer who stopped one of the 9-11 hijackers a few months before 9-11 didn't arrest the hijacker and send him to the INS for deportation. Rudy Giuliani and his supporters can put on their righteous indignation about security, but when we Rudy wants to find someone to blame for the lack of security that led to 9-11, he needs to look in the mirror. He has far too much baggage on this issue to be pretending to be some great defender of national security. His posturing on national security is the epitome of hypocrisy.

That’s what’s wrong with republicans they can’t stand up and unite, democrats do because they want to win and winning is everything in politics.

Great, if uniting is everything, let's unite around Duncan Hunter. He's my candidate. If he's not what most folks want, let's look at others. Let's unite around Jim Gilmore. Let's unite around Mike Huckabee. We might be able to unite around Mitt Romney. We could almost certainly unite around Fred Thompson. Why is it that the Giuliani supporters can't see uniting around someone who truly unites the party?

calcowgirl is one of the most informed FReepers on the issues. She understands that your guy Rooty is a flaming liberal.

Thanks RM. :-) A liberal indeed. Every day I read about this man I am amazed at not only his liberal positions, his disrespect for the constitution, and all of the liberals he surrounded himself with and appointed to high positions. Today I was reading about the crooks that ran New York City's Housing Development Corporation, 3 of whom were convicted, IIRC. One was the son-in-law of Vernon Jordan, another was an alleged pedophile, etc. If these are representative of the good "conservatives" that Rudy would appoint if elected, everyone should be worried.

Notwithstanding all of that, the more I hear Rudy speak, I think he is truly shallow. There is just nothing there beyond soundbites and canned talking points. IMO, this is truly a case where the propaganda machine has created one of the greatest myths of our time in building up Rudy.
