checked out DU and wanted to wretch in less than a minute.

Same with some of the gun forums I haunt. They can be truly disgusting people. I log on to the sites hoping to find signs of intelligent life but am repeatedly disappointed.

Jerry Falwell was a great man because he had faith in a great G-d.

Flynt released the following statement:

"The Reverend Jerry Falwell and I were arch enemies for fifteen years. We became involved in a lawsuit concerning First Amendment rights and Hustler magazine. Without question, this was my most important battle – the l988 Hustler Magazine, Inc., v. Jerry Falwell case, where after millions of dollars and much deliberation, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in my favor.

My mother always told me that no matter how much you dislike a person, when you meet them face to face you will find characteristics about them that you like. Jerry Falwell was a perfect example of that. I hated everything he stood for, but after meeting him in person, years after the trial, Jerry Falwell and I became good friends. He would visit me in California and we would debate together on college campuses. I always appreciated his sincerity even though I knew what he was selling and he knew what I was selling.

The most important result of our relationship was the landmark decision from the Supreme Court that made parody protected speech, and the fact that much of what we see on television and hear on the radio today is a direct result of my having won that now famous case which Falwell played such an important role in."

That kind of hate burns you up inside eventually.

It's why so many of them look like farm animals, dumbells, or mutant eggplant.

Maybe, maybe not. The fact that he couldn’t come up with a comment right away says something. In addition, the best chance to get the comment quoted prominently is when the news is freshest.

If anyone wants to see how sick the left is, just do a Jerry Falwell search on YouTube. The videos will make you sick.

Paul Weyrich isn't in great health now, but I think Howard Phillips is.

Phillips has his ups and downs, but he's doing a great job with the Conservative Caucus, the Conservative Roundtable, and his involvement in the Constitution Party of VA (and the national Constitution Party).

I for one am quietly celebrating his death. Not like the denizens of the fever swamp that is DU or Daily Kos, but as a Christian, rejoicing that what he once saw through a glass darkly he now sees clearly. That he has run his race and succeeded and earned his crown and eternal rest with Jesus.

If he did anything wrong or unworthy in his ministry, he will answer to the Lord Almighty not me, I wish I could lead as many to Jesus as he has.

RIP.

He has presumably found out by now whether many Southerners' views of (say) Jews and Catholics are shared in Heaven.

Prayers for the family.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Jerry Falwell was a man who loved God and loved people.

That ultimately was the position he took after all the controversy and smears of him are put aside.

Those who want to dismiss him as a voice of “hate” should face the mirror themselves about “hate.”

Why do you think the South is anti-Catholic compared to the WASP Northeast?

General Pat Cleburne, CSA, the Stonewall Jackson of the West, is a Southern hero who was born in Ireland. The Poet Laureate of the Confederacy (defacto) was Father Abraham Ryan. Remember too that the O’Haras in GONE WITH THE WIND were Catholic.

As for Jews, the CSA had a Jewish Secretary of State, Judah P. Benjamin and this was decades before the USA has such an important cabinet position filled by a Jew.

Thanks for those remembrances of Rev. Falwell.

I only was able to see him in person once, but was so impressed by both his gentle kindness and his dynamic strength.

America and all those throughout the world who love freedom and righteousness have lost a true champion. All those who know and love Jesus Christ have lost a brother in Christ - but only to this world.

I imagine there are many dear souls in heaven who have greeted him who would not be there had it not been for this man's dedication to the gospel of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanks be to God for Dr. Jerry Falwell's life and ministry and leadership in this country and in the world.
