SALT LAKE CITY -- Radio relationship guru Laura Schlessinger, in Salt Lake City on Friday to speak to Army families at Fort Douglas, said she was tired of hearing the complaints of lonely and overwhelmed military wives whose husbands are deployed. "He could come back without arms, legs or eyeballs, and you're (whining)?" Schlessinger asked before taking the stage at the base theater to host her daily program on ethics, morals and values. "You're not dodging bullets, so I don't want to hear any whining -- that's my message to them."
Schlessinger boasted that she once talked a young woman out of marrying a soldier, noting that "warriors need warrior wives" and that she felt the woman was unprepared.

Yea, he may have that degree, but he’s a charlatain at best. Calling what he does Drive Through Psychology is an insult to drive throughs.... to call it psychology is like callying Bubba chaste.
‘Why do fake Drs insist on being called Dr? (Phil, Laura..)’
How anyone takes ‘Dr Perky’ seriously after the revelations of her own personal lifestyle a few years back is beyond understanding. The topless pics, her 11 year affair with a married man....how she can pretend to be a ‘moral authority’ is just weird.
I am not the biggest fan of Dr Laura, but whenever anyone brings up past acts, and not recent past acts of someone to justify ignoring them, I am reminded of the old saying:
Some of the worlds greatest saints, were first some of the worlds greatests sinners.
If St Paul were alive today, in the culture and climate we have, the Christian church would have died, because Saul spent a lot of his life doing things completely against the Christian ideal, long before his conversion.
*************
Amen. Who of us is without sin?
The reason most military wives do so much whining while their spouses are deployed, in my estimation, is so that they feel better about what they are about to do, namely, cheat. Jody is very real. The rear echelon may contain many Jodys.
“I am not the biggest fan of Dr Laura, but whenever anyone brings up past acts, and not recent past acts of someone to justify ignoring them, I am reminded of the old saying:

Fair enough. Do you know of any ‘saints’ that pretended they had been ‘saints’ their entire lives for a decade, then were outted as being a fraud, as happened with this woman?
I don’t. If she helps somebody with her pap, great...but I have no use for her brand of hypocrisy.
Well thank God that never happened to Dr Ruth.
The ones I really hate are when a second wife calls because her husband’s kids are acting like jerks. Dr. Laura will always say that his kids come before her and the new wife should know this. She makes it sound like it’s always the husband’s fault that there was a divorce in the first place.
The world must be full of masochists because all these pathetic individuals call into her knowing full well that they’re about to be made to look a fool in front of a national audience, and they still dial the number.
A fraud, and a stone cold misogynist. Any woman who would call that harpy is a masochist. She even hates women who agree with her and try to butter her up during their calls.
I don’t recall this woman ever claiming she was a saint from birth... admittedly I don’t listen to her daily, and am not a big fan, but I don’t recall her ever claiming she was perfect and without fault.
Maybe she has, but I don’t know of it.
‘but I dont recall her ever claiming she was perfect and without fault.’
I find the ‘on high’ tone hypocritical in the extreme, but thats just me.
You know what, folks? Not all GIs want their wives to act a certain way when they're deployed. My hub was never deployed during the first gulf but he would often be gone for weeks at a time. I let him know I was lonely, I let him know I missed him. I bet I even whined about it once or twice. I never cheated on him, though, and he never cheated on me. Now he's in the private sector and at least once a year, he'll be out of town for a week or ten days. Every night I let him know I miss him, every night our sons tell him how much they miss him. We also let him know how much we are looking forward to his return. That doesn't make him feel badly. He says he finds comfort in the fact that things are not the same around here without him. I wonder what Dr Laura would have to say about that.
Why should military marriages be cookie cutter? They are every bit as diverse and complex as marriages of non-military folks. Typical Dr Laura, painting everyone with the same brush. Just curious...how many times has she been married? I know she doesn't take her faith very seriously, I have to wonder about the rest of her life.
Anyone who says anything judgemental can be viewed as hypocritical by someone willing to look hard enough, that doesn’t mean that what is stated by the person is wrong.
I guy who’s lifetime addicted to drugs tells a child to not do drugs.... are they hypocritical? Or are they speaking from experience of where they are or have been and saying don’t make my mistakes?
Or is the person who’s never touched a drug in their life being hypocritical when tehy tell a child not to do drugs, because they have no personal experience to back up their lecture?
If the message is bad fine, but to say the message is invalid, not because its worng, but because the person delivering it is a flawed (as we all are) human being, well that just makes no sense.
Attacking the messenger or discounting the message because of who the messenger is is not always the wisest path.
Its hard to listen to because she is so rude and abrasive. Granted, the idiots that call her show need someone who will be rude and abrasive to them, I just don't understand why people would want listen to it.
There are all kinds of ways to do that, here’s one:

As a military wife, I agree completely....the wife at home needs to grow up and take care of business so he can take care of his business!!
