Reid needs to rethink stance (Reid gets nailed)
No Lake Tahoe Bonanza ^ | May 6, 2007 | Robert Howell

May 6, 2007

I am proud to be a resident of the great state of Nevada. I am ashamed to be represented in the U.S. Senate by the less than "Honorable Harry Reid." Though it wasn't unusual for Sen. Reid to make inflammatory statements before the Democrats became the majority party in Congress, now it happens so often that one could almost set their watch by it. Since November he pledged full funding for the military, then it was full funding with conditions, now he has threaten no funding. Harry which is it? Do you support the men and women who are giving their lives to protect us from an enemy who has the goal of destroying western civilization as we know it? Maybe we should give the enemy a timetable of our withdrawal from Iraq. I wonder why Truman didn't share the plans for Little Boy and Fat Man with Hitler or Emperor Hirohito. Here's a hint Harry, Nancy and your fellow war college mensas, you don't tell the enemy what your plans are. Do NFL teams pass out their play books to their opponents? This is not rocket science, it is common sense.

Sen. Reid and fellow democrats in their defeatist mentality love to compare the war in Iraq to the Vietnam War. Maybe I missed something during the Vietnam War. Did the North Vietnamese want to destroy the United States? How many people did the North Vietnamese kill on American soil? Did the North Vietnamese want to install a religious leader to rule the world? Did the North Vietnamese want to institute a theocracy as the form of government in South Vietnam? I don't recall any North Vietnamese driving vehicles into crowded markets, police stations, or any other place and blowing themselves up in hope of meeting 70 virgins in paradise and pleasing a god of their own imagination. What was the goal of North Vietnam? Perhaps it was to unite their entire country under communist rule. For the most part, we knew who the enemy was in Vietnam. In this war on "terror," the enemy in Iraq, consists of "insurgents," Bathists, Sunnis, Shiites, Al Queda, Iranians and who knows who. Pretty much anyone who doesn't want to see a democratic form of government succeed in Iraq is our enemy. Make no mistake about it, the enemy in Iraq doesn't view Iraq as their only target, they want to kill you and your family and mine and anyone who would oppose their ungodly beliefs.

When questioned regarding his comment that the war in Iraq is lost, Sen. Reid was quick to support his view by saying that General Petreaus said the same thing. When confronted with the fact that General Petreaus did not say the war was lost, Harry's response was, "General - General Petraeus has said the war cannot be won militarily. He said that. And President Bush is doing nothing economically. He is doing nothing diplomatically. He is not doing even the minimal requested by the Iraq Study Group.

So I - I stick with General Petraeus. I have no doubt that the war cannot be won militarily, and that's what I said last Thursday and I stick with that."

Backpedaling as Harry does so well he said "Well, I - as I said, maybe it's a choice of words. I mean General Petraeus has said the war cannot be won militarily. Doesn't every soldier going there know that he's said that? I think so."

The next exchange between Sen. Reid and CNN's Dana Bash:

Q: ..(The President) "also said that General Petraeus is going to....make it clear to you that there is progress going on in Iraq, that the so-called surge is working. Will you believe him when he says that?"

REID: (laugh)" No! I don't believe him, because it's not happening. All you have to do is look at the facts. The factors are this has been going on for three months. American deaths are at the highest they've been in two years."

So Sen. Reid can rely on and believe General Pertraeus when he believes that the general is supporting his position that the war is lost, but when the general says that there is progress in Iraq, he won't believe him. And why doesn't he believe the general who may be a bit more informed than Sen. Reid, because it doesn't fit with his defeatist attitude. Sen. Reid you are an embarrassment to the citizens of Nevada.

Question for Sen. Reid: If we have lost the war, who won? Everyone knows that if there is a loser there must be a winner. Harry, are you calling our soldiers in harm's way losers? And proclaiming the monsters that have no regard whatsoever for human life and have no problem with blowing up themselves, men, women and children winners in this war? Are the cowards that hide behind garments which cover their identities while they behead a person in the name of "Allah" winners? Are you pleased when a car bomb goes off and kills some of those "losers" so called? I sure hope not.

Sen. Reid complains that President Bush is doing nothing diplomatically. Okay, who of our enemies should we be engaged with diplomatically? I don't think each of the factions have an embassy in Iraq. Sen. Reid's complaint may make a good sound bit, but it is nonsensical.

It is a shame that Sen. Reid has become so inebriated with power that he believes the war in Iraq will be the catalyst for his party picking up more seats in the next election. Men and women are dying and his disingenuous concern for them is exposed by attempting to exploit their service for political gain.

Sometimes I am more concerned about the enemy from within than without. Only time will tell if Sen. Reid, Representative Pelosi and many other democratic senators and representatives will turn out to be an army of Neville Chamberlains. Prime Minister Chamberlain returned to Great Britain with an agreement signed by Adolf Hitler wherein Hitler promised not to go to war with Great Britain again. However, Hitler changed his mind. It seemed that world domination was more attractive. How reliable would have been an agreement brought back to the U.S. by Representative Pelosi signed by Syrian President Bashar Assad agreeing not to fund terrorism? Perhaps Sen. Reid should, through his extensive foreign network meet with Usama Bin Laden and work out an agreement whereby Al Queda would promise not to attack the United States. That would be a historic event, true, but the document none the less worthless.

One last thing, Sen. Harry Reid, do the country and the citizens of Nevada a favor, resign. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott's untimely comments pale in comparison to your traitorous comments, yet he did the right thing and stepped down.

Rethink? I liked what Duncan Hunter said: step down! To that I’d add: resign!

YOUR ACTION REQUESTED BY SOME TROOPS IN IRAQ: Please spread the word about an appeal for redress that people in the military can sign to show support for the mission. They are having problems getting the word out:

If you haven't seen this yet: A campaign by active-duty troops asking Congress to drop plans for a withdrawal from Iraq. Lt. Jason Nichols, a 33-year-old naval projects officer who has been in Baghdad since mid-January, said the goal is to keep lawmakers focused on letting the military finish its mission in Iraq, and not prematurely declare failure

Howell is correct, Reid should step down.

In the good old days, he would probably be forcibly removed in shackles, face trial for treason, and ultimately end up swinging by his neck from some tree.

Unfortunately, there's nobody in Washington that has the sack to do anything about this POS.

I’m so tired of hearing about and from all of the phony politicians. This country has become the hive for breeding the ultimate BULL SH*T artists. I listen to Rush, Michael, Levine, Lee Rodgers and watch baseball games. I can’t turn on the news channels and stomach the political gas bags.

“Do NFL teams pass out their play books to their opponents? This is not rocket science, it is common sense.”

Great analogy, I just happen to meet a soldier last night while watching the del a hoya fight that fought over in Iraq and he told me he thinks the democrats are pathetic.

And it’s because so many think the dims are pathetic that no one really expects them to do the right thing. Clinton blustered and postured in the 90s about Saddam Hussein but no one took him seriously so it was OK.

The minute GWB began doing the same it was the end of the world as we knew it as far as dims and their msm lackeys were concerned.

Reid will not, unfortunately, step down.

He may not yet realize it, but Pelosi, Murtha and Reid will soon need Secret Service protection, along with Obama.

I have never seen the US electorate so polarized over an issue, and feelings are so high that they likely will lead to citizen action, which likley will make Reid wish he had resigned.
