Damn.... Just ate Indiana chicken. My cat also got bit by this and am hoping her kidney function returns to normal. I am livid to say the least. WHY IN THE HELL ARE THEY BUYING PROTEIN FROM A NET PROTEIN IMPORTER!!!!!!!!!

I used to trade this kind of stuff and China imports this stuff.... this was not fit for their totally unregulated domestic market.

TRADING COMPANIES NEED TO BE LIMITED TO RATIONAL TRADES!

The only reason you ship coal to new castle is you are cheating.

Last week hogs were impacted by the wheat gluten in their feed.

This week it is in chicken feed.

So, who is minding the store? Who is supposed to be watching out for this kind of stuff? Who is asleep at their post?

Tinfoil alert: I get the feeling this is a test. And it seems to be rendering some interesting results about areas of vulnerability.

What have all those $Billions in Homeland Security grants been used for anyway?

Tainted pet food linked to Indiana chickens

April 30, 2007 WASHINGTON - Two federal agencies say chicken feed at 30 broiler poultry farms and eight breeder poultry farms in Indiana contained byproducts from pet food manufactured with contaminated wheat gluten imported from China.

The Agriculture Department and the Food and Drug Administration say the likelihood of human illness from eating chicken fed the contaminated product is very low. No recall of poultry products processed from these animals is being issued.

The F-D-A and U-S-D-A said in a joint statement that officials learned about the contamination as part of the investigation into imported rice protein concentrate and wheat gluten. Both have been found to contain the industrial chemical melamine and related compounds.

The agencies say the Indiana farms received the feed in early February, and other farms likely were affected.

OK ALL HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING

in the oct-nov-dec period of 96 the raw materials of pet food/animal feed jumped up in price. (ethanol /fuel prices)

they reformulated and by law have 3 or more months to declare the reformulation on bags.

The Chinese companies saw a way to sell their inferior products to the US by adding crap that boosted the Nitrogen profile, (the cheap way to measure protien)

They added what they had cheapest... a plastics raw material/fertilizer.

All our food is suspect. Anything that ate feed or any product that had protein added since then till six months from now. (even our food) The stuff is still in the pipeline.

WHY THE FRAQ WON’T THEY TELL US WHICH *&((!((*(%% FEED BRAND IS CONTAMINATED???

I am sick unto death of them not telling us which products contain this contaminated grain. I just bought some myotonic goats (aka fainting goats) and I will not have my herd eating this ****! I have egg chickens and I want to know which feed contained the contaminants. But will they tell us? NO...

I already started cooking for my dogs. Now I’ve got to go and call every feed mill I’ve bought from and ask them if they know where their grain comes from...

and I will, first thing tomorrow. If they have imported ANYTHING, it’s going in the trash.

My cats are throwing up a LOT lately. They are eating Purina Friskies dry and Purina Naturals dry. I wonder if it’s got something in there. I am sorry but I am not cooking for them.

Thought you might want to see this one, since you have chickens.

Free range chickens are sounding better to me everyday.

Is the ‘protein enhancing’ chemical served in China proper? Or only a commodity for export?
