Damn.... Just ate Indiana chicken. My cat also got bit by this and am hoping her kidney function returns to normal. I am livid to say the least. WHY IN THE HELL ARE THEY BUYING PROTEIN FROM A NET PROTEIN IMPORTER!!!!!!!!!
I used to trade this kind of stuff and China imports this stuff.... this was not fit for their totally unregulated domestic market.
TRADING COMPANIES NEED TO BE LIMITED TO RATIONAL TRADES!

Last week hogs were impacted by the wheat gluten in their feed.
This week it is in chicken feed.
So, who is minding the store? Who is supposed to be watching out for this kind of stuff? Who is asleep at their post?
Tinfoil alert: I get the feeling this is a test. And it seems to be rendering some interesting results about areas of vulnerability.
What have all those $Billions in Homeland Security grants been used for anyway?

Tainted pet food linked to Indiana chickens April 30, 2007 WASHINGTON - Two federal agencies say chicken feed at 30 broiler poultry farms and eight breeder poultry farms in Indiana contained byproducts from pet food manufactured with contaminated wheat gluten imported from China.
The Agriculture Department and the Food and Drug Administration say the likelihood of human illness from eating chicken fed the contaminated product is very low. No recall of poultry products processed from these animals is being issued.
The F-D-A and U-S-D-A said in a joint statement that officials learned about the contamination as part of the investigation into imported rice protein concentrate and wheat gluten. Both have been found to contain the industrial chemical melamine and related compounds.
The agencies say the Indiana farms received the feed in early February, and other farms likely were affected.

I have a dog mysteriously sick for the past month or so. I am suspecting the same market that makes soy sauce out of human hair.
Why would we import ANY food product from China? Food does not require assembly by slave labor! We grow the food!

Yes there is, the Pet Food Companies are / were selling the contaminated pet food so as not to take a complete money loss.
Perhaps the insurers for Pet Food Companies are in on this?

Farm subsidies are to blame for the importing of food from China.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal.. cutbacks at FDA and they are only able to check about 1 - 2% of our food supply. Said right now they are running from site to site trying to take reports...
Folks, this is the tip of a large iceberg....

I think due to advertisers bringing pressure to push it under the carpet.

Tip of the iceberg is right. The Chinese may not use wheat gluten as the only protein source - they could be throwing in all the animal brains and offal that we have said you can’t refeed to animals - can you say prion disease?
Depending on another country, a hostile country, for essentials like food, medicine, electronics, steel is insane.
