Just got finished from shift with 28yrs of caring for King Vanity who is a medically fragile quadroplegic.
We came home from Medical Center and have been working full board to keep him going.
Doc suggested we take him back to the Med Center for hospice arrangements.
I have been his careprovider for all his life and he has asked me to stop making him get up and go like he used to do and let him rest.
His lungs and digestive sytem are shutting down due to lifelong brain stem damage.
Our Priest will be here tommarrow to give him his last rites...
He will then be allowed to chill (I will make him work when possible to get up and go) untill the good Lord calls...
We have done all possible and are respecting his right to have comfort at home.
Meaning Free Repub and CSpan Road to the White House. (each to their own)
He will be 28 on May 23 and is the longest survivor of his type.
I know the Lord will grant him many years to come just not as a go go guy.
Medically he can not tolerate the constant hands on care as his health requires more and more constant care.
King Vanity is an active Catholic and a member of Militia Imaculta Fr.Kolbe ministries which is his life long goal of lifting all others up in his suffering through Prayers.
All the Glory To Jesus.
Without his true pure love I would have never met my son and enjoyed all the fun upbeat silly years we have had.
Chris was DOA at birth and wonderfull magnificant albeit alot of work has kept him here to allow myself and many others to see beyond ourselves.
Such emotional bonding seems so rare in this life. Yet, Christ died that we all might walk in it. So sad that it is more true in situations like yours than the average ones.
Folks miss out on so much being so caught up in the affairs of daily life.
Clearly God has blessed you with growth, wisdom, His Love and tender hearteness.
He must have many rewards stored up in Heaven for both of you.
Honored to have known of you at all.
His best to each of you and to all those you love.

King Vanity’s “Be My Valentine” post brought a smile to face back when I read it about a year ago.
