We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
you’re swear = you’d swear
Actually, it isn’t equal at all, but dang, I goofed up typin’ again. LOL
First, opinion polls show Rudy at between 30% and 35% support in republican primaries. Unless you think only 1/3 of the republican party is made up of republicans, your "solidly behind" statement is not based on facts.
Secondly, support for Rudy among those 30-35% is not really "solid" either. Most Rudy posters here have said they like him because he's ahead in the polls and can beat Hillary, and have suggested that if that changed they would jump ship. Many say they might support Fred Thompson.
Third, 60% of republicans say they wish they had more choices. 35% say that are unhappy with all the current choices of ANNOUNCED candidates. Hardly a sign we are happy with and solidly behind anybody
Fourth, the numbers coming from various straw polls are not looking like a solid giuliani vote. He takes a few, but most put him way behind. This isn't all voters of course, but it is the party stalwarts.
And it is interesting that the only candidate that causes deep division in our party is Rudy Giuliani. Most Rudy supporters claim they'll vote for whoever the "R" is, while many principled voters say they won't violate those principles by voting for Rudy.
But what's funniest is this: Sometimes, rudy supporters claim that the media hates him, that liberals hate him, that he was attacked mercilessly while he was Mayor of New York, but that he stood up to all those people which is why they hate him.
Other times, they claim he is loved by all stripes, that democrats and independents will come over to vote for him, that he's a media darling and therefore won't be torn down after the primaries.
I hope they can see those are somewhat contradictory statements.
Sounds like you've got yourself in a snit.
Btw, I thought you retired from FR? LOL
Hildy, if you believe that, I don't think "hate" means what you think it means. LOL The only issue that Liberals hate Giuliani's opinion on is the WOT, or any war for that matter.
As it turns out, we need their votes, too.
Social conservatives were indeed the piece of the coalition that pushed the Republican party into majority status. A lot of Rudy-style GOPers are conveniently forgetting that fact.
But socons would be naive to conclude from that that we are a majority in and of ourselves.
Like it or not, politics is about building and maintaining coalitions. That's why I'm not too eager to tell a lot of people to get lost.
It's also why I truly hope Fred Thompson will enter the fray. I don't see anyone else out there that can unite 80 - 90% of the Republican party.

I know I’m very naive, but I choose to believe that many Freepers are over at that site just because they have friends there, not to participate in any anti-FR stuff.
“Really? I don’t remember reading any thread where the phrases like “Bring it on you stupid b*@3h” were tolerated.”
How about mocking Christian conservatives.....telling them to take a hike, and posting a picture of Jimmy Swaggart crying “I have sinned” as an example of conservative Christians?
Give me the swear words, brother!
That was VILE!
How do you know? Are you willing to open yourself up for the FBI? Are you willing to risk anything no matter how small? Or do you just sit behind your keyboard tap tap tapping?
I'm curious as to why you felt it was necessary to ping someone else in your response to me.
Ummmm, it was his post, I had too. It called courtesy.
I'm tired of getting in trouble for posting the vile garbage. ;o)
“I’ll assume this surprises nobody.”
Not one bit. She has no integrity whatsoever. Pathetic!
“due to the generosity of all us liberals over the years”
You come in here and call all of us Freepers homophobes and bigots - why do you put liberals in quotations?
Embrace your liberal beliefs.
I've noticed over the years that one of Jim Robinson's stellar qualities is that he doesn't let this kind of threat faze him. That kind of courage is all too rare these days, and is increasingly hard to find in the Republican Party.
ping I promised
That expresses my sentiment very well. I feel like the election is tomorrow or something.....
Thank you for that post Jim. I firmly believe that two socialist parties in this country would be more destructive than four years of Democrat rule.
Agreed. Rudy makes a better liberal Democrat, then he does a Republican.
OTOH. Rudy Giuliani is persona non grata for conservatives.
That’s funny.
Amen.
