Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

I've just exposed you for the RudyBooster you are.

You have said in post #17405, that if someone doesn't vote for Rudy, should he be the nominee, they'd be hurting the GOP, the troops and America. Those are your own words.

>>>>>>I could vote third party as a way of protesting, but by doing so I would also be helping the Democrats and hurting the Republicans, our military men and women, and our country’s security and future.

Of course now you're saying, those aren't your words. LOL

We cannot move forward very well if we don't know what the new rules are.

It isn't a question of "rules." It's a question of stupidity. If conservatives will not draw the line that says, "We're not voting Republican if Giuliani is the nominee," and mean it, the net result will be that the political establishment will not take conservatives seriously, and will go right ahead and nominate Giuliani anyway. Count on it.

“Thanks! I was actually looking for that very post, more than once. I could not find it because this thread is so unwieldy.
I’m copying it here again so I don’t have to remember who wrote it (which was one reason I couldn’t find it last time).
Good Post, Iwo Jima.”

You are welcome, it was definitely one of the best posts on the thread, which probably doesn’t mean much since he was only competing against not even 18,000 posts. (joking of course)

There is no need to debate this hypothetical, is there?

You say Rudy isn’t your best choice for the nomination, concentrate on that and just hope/pray the hypothetical never needs to be addressed.

Correct. I just wanted to ask two questions, and hopefully we'll get an answer to them soon.

Over 70% of FReepers have said they will vote 3rd party, stay home, leave blank or write-in a name. Those 70% of FReepers are hurting the GOP, the troops and America's security... according to Chena. That is an insult to all conservatives who will never vote for Rudy.

And I'd wager that everyone participating in this thread agrees with that. This thread has become nothing more than an opportunity to deny it, and for spite. Nothing more.

When I say I will vote Republican it is not because I owe them anything, it is strictly based on my personal opinion of what I think is the best possible options.

Well, we won't need to deal with that if we get to work NOW to make sure there is an acceptable nominee(R) (Rudy is the only guy I consider in the "unacceptable" category).

...after that glacier stroll, of course.

I have an opinion about 3rd party votes, how effective they are, and why I don’t choose to be a third party voter. Why can’t you just allow me to have an opinion on the subject without flaming me for it?

If you choose to vote third party, or not vote, or tell others you don’t think they should vote Republican if Giuliani is on the ballot, I’m certainly not going to flame you for it. It’s your opinion. So be it.

Now that was funny! And humor being the only thing of value being pursued in this thread. Thanks for the chuckle.

After the flames I'm enduring a stroll on a glacier sounds like a very good idea. LOL Yes, we all must work very hard to see that the best conservative candidate ends up on that ballot. I know I'll do my part. :)

Bump that. Iwo Jima’s post was one of the best on the thread.

Maybe we should have some way of tagging good posts so that people who come in later can get the benefit of those who read the thread.

They could do it by searching for some kind of keyword.
Here’s a few suggestions. If the concept catches on, maybe FR will settle on something.

There are plenty of real debates that we could have, we don’t need to make them up. There is a lot of time to debate the General election starting in about a year. Right now, we need a nominee first, and so do the liberals.

I made a conciliatory post to you #17385. That wasn't good enough for you.

Your post at #17405 opened Pandora's box, one more time.

You are trouble. I still think the folks over at WA are pulling your strings.

Maybe, but in this case we like IJ’s post for the simple reason that it seems to capture the point of the thread, but in most cases the voting would end up supporting points of view and biases.

Honestly, I think Rudy will be a disappointment to those who think he’d be better than a dem. I wouldn’t doubt that he’s trying to come off as conservative as he can to win the Republican nomination. I shudder to think what he’ll do if there’s no more motivation for him to do that. He may just abandon all pretense of conservatism.

RM... I’m usually with you, but on this one I would suggest easing off a little. I personally find Giuliani unfit and will never vote for him, period. But others may choose differently. That is their option. Critizing them for that position is similar to being critiziced for being one of those “right wingers that will stay home.”

As to the FR Poll, I said I would vote 3rd party. BUT—that is so hypothetical! If the name was David Duke, he’s not getting my vote! Same with Alan Keyes. My reasoning completely different in both cases. When someone says they would vote third party, there are probably a host of things in their mind. It’s not like they signed an irrevocable proxy for their vote!

More importantly, IIRC, there were only about 7% of freepers saying they were “solidly behind Rudy.” That means this guy is defeatable in the primary. Let’s get to work and make sure he doesn’t get the nomination! Then we won’t have to argue about this.
