Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Then, I retract my previous assertion that you did this at RA's behest. Obviously, you feel some animosity toward T'wit for his role in having RA banned (plus his recent suspension); if you had just said that in the first place, I never would have made my initial post to you.

Okay. No irony here ... thank you for retracting your previous assertion. I appreciate it. You're acting like an adult.

But that next "obviously" is just as wrong. Please, waggs, get that crystal ball adjusted! It was only one post I responded to, and nothing before it ... the witless one about messages from the mother ship. I wasn't privy to the previous suspension or the banning, so I have nothing to post about them.

I hesitate to post personal info about other FReepers, but you should know that RadioAstronomer has spent his life in the defense of this country. So in addition to being a friend of mine, he's been in service to each and every one of us here.

And that's all I have to say on the matter.

I liked Radio Astronomer, too.

I liked King Prout, Peach and several other of those who left or threw themselves upon the thorns of life. I’m sorry their viewpoints are such as they really don’t fit in any more.

I am extra sad they didn’t have the graciousness, some of them, to stop trying to make a privately owned place fit their views instead of the mission statement of the owner.

But this is life. Jim says “We believe in Pro-life, pro-guns, pro-God, fiscal responsibility, fighting against the creeping socialism in our nation, against the gay agenda and pc views of what we should be.” People who have decided that a person who matches that description in most ways of what Jim is fighting against is someone they need to pound down people’s throats, and to do it, they badmouth various people, refuse to take no for an answer and get upset when told they aren’t welcome.

Their goals and agenda’s aren’t Jim’s. But this place is a place for those whose goals and agendas DO match with Jim’s. If they find themselves unwelcome, it’s because they have overstepped his hospitality.

I’m still just amazed at the phenomenon of not reading an entire thread. It’s like driving into the middle of a race, getting to the finish line and then wondering why the guy behind you gets the cup and champagne. Just wow.

That’s the problem. People forget FR isn’t a GOP big tent. It’s a conservative tent. They don’t 100% overlap.

To: GOP_1900AD; Jeff Head; Paul Ross; DarkWaters; Tailgunner Joe

And I repeat once again, as stated on my FR home page:

“At various times since my sign up date, there have been false claims and misconceptions regarding my beliefs. While I may criticize certain factions whose power in the GOP slowly increased throughout the 20th century (e.g. Progressives, Libertarians, Free Traders, Big Tenters, Grover Norquist bootlickers, etc) I have an explicit goal of tough love for the GOP. I have no hidden agenda; my agenda is open. In essence, I believe strongly that for the GOP to become *THE* party for the 21st century, we must diligently study best practices from our past. Of note, I frequently meditate on the Republican Party Platform of 1900. This platform included balanced fair trade, a strong national defense, strong national sovereignty, responsible currency management, and a generally pro USA and pro Western Civilization stance. It is the essence of a rare time in our history where we were financially, geopolitically, and spiritually ascendent all at the same time. I think that we still don’t fully comprehend the great harm done by Czolgolz’ bullets. I urge all here to meditate on these things, and to consider how to move the GOP from a receding, reactive, increasingly liberal stance, to a stance of taking initiative and becoming the leader in both political and geopolitical development of the USA and Western Civilization. Some will label me a throw back to primitive ways, but as I see it, my ways are reflective of the true future and of the primacy of the greatest civilization ever to grace God’s green Earth.”

To: wagglebee; fatima

I think what fatima is really upset about is the celebrations of freepers whenever someone gets zotted. I have tried to tone mine down, but it’s difficult. Many of those lemmings who flung themselves off the cliff were abusive toward outspoken conservatives. Fatima spends her time spreading joy, love and prayer. She was undoubtedly never a target of those attacks, and probably rarely if ever witnessed them.

One of their pastimes was to gang up on one freeper, flaming them with vile posts, until they replied, then everyone would hit the Abuse button until their target got suspended. Then they would celebrate, and call the missing freeper vile names, and make false accusations that they couldn’t defend themselves against. When the freeper came back from suspension, they’d stalk him/her, and do it all over again. We lost many a good freeper over that. I wonder if anyone has a list of those names.

Free Republic is already a better place since Saturday. The most obnoxious vitriolic trouble makers are gone. Soon, we can get down to the serious work that needs to be done, without interference from those long time trolls. They had their foot on our necks for far too long.

Here's an idea. Let's drive into the middle of the race and then beat our chests and ckaim victory while loudly shouting that those who left the starting gate are disqualified.

So, while I’ve been, at times, frustrated by the presence here of certain folks - liberals, hacks, trolls, phonies, et al, I’ve also recognized JR’s wisdom in, as he phrases it, “keeping a light hand on the rudder.”

Because, hey, let’s face it, they’re representative of the liberals, hacks, trolls and phonies that exist in large numbers in the Republican Party all across the fruited plain.

But, now is the time for the political fight of our lives. It looms in front of us as Christians, as conservatives, as small “r” republicans, and as Americans.

That's very well put, thanks.

The candidacy of Rudy--an articulate, nationally known, but hopelessly misguided liberal--has forced the issue. It is time to "choose ye this day whom you shall serve." The FR liberals made the wrong choice, and FR is better off for it.

Well then Jim and the FReepathoners should stop posting the Monthly and Dollar-a-day donors. It’s important to them, they post the names, so it is other peoples business,
