Because he had no ID and shot himself in the face. It’ll take a while, but I’d rather that they get it right the first time.
He didn’t have any ID on him. So, I’m guessing they are having a hard time proving who he is.
Is it still an issue of not being able to ID him, or have they identified him but are not releasing that info yet?

A. an Illegal Alien
B. A muslim.
PC dictates that you do not reveal the identity of either.
Thought I heard the cop saying they were interviewing the person of interest in the 1st shooting while the 2cnd shooting was taking place. For some reason, they believe the 2 shootings to be separate. If so, this has got to beat astronomical odds that two shootings would occur like this 2 hours apart. BTW, the person of interest has not been charged.
Shooter id concealed most likely on racial or religious identification of shooter. They will try to make this a jilted lover case; however, the pattern is the shooter apparently did not find his alleged lover and then went on to kill scores.
The other problem is thus far they have not even ruled out the possibility of two shooters and seem reluctant to come to that conclusion without ballistic proof.
Is that because he's dead?
I don’t know whether to get paranoid about this or not. I think the odds are against it being a terrorist case. But the longer they wait, the more suspicious people are going to get.
I agree. There are several mysteries. Was there one shooter or two? Were the shooters connected? If it was one guy who left the campus and then returned, why didn’t they do more to warn people and send in police? The New York Times article says that the shootings took place over a period of three hours.
If the shooter was suicidal over his girlfriend, and if his first visit was to the dorm where she lived, why were the police unable to identify him by asking other students in the dorm who the Asian boyfriend was?
I gather the FBI has been brought in, and they have done nothing for the past ten years and more but cover up and bury evidence. We wouldn’t know that the Norman stadium suicide bombing was a terrorist incident if the local papers hadn’t gotten on top of it before the FBI had a chance to sweep it all under the rug.
Suicidal boyfriends I can understand. But what’s the psychological explanation for someone who comes in, shoots a couple of people, leaves, picks up more weapons, comes back, and then starts mowing people down at random? It just doesn’t make any sense. But it DOES fit the pattern of Sudden Jihad Syndrome, which involves killing as many people as possible.
Asian? There are plenty of Asian Muslims. I think the odds are against, but I wish the newspapers would do a little investigating on this case, like the folks at the Norman radio station did.
I wonder the same thing, they won’t even mention race of this disturbed person either. Especially as in an up-roar as this country has been over race and culture since Imus incident.

Brian Williams of NBC asked one of the EMTs a typical dumb-arse Williams type question. “And i suppose you and your team have never imagined having to deal with this type of situation...”
The EMT corrected him without calling him a dumb-arse that they routinely train for these exact scenerios.

Authorities were investigating whether the gunman who killed 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history was a Chinese man who arrived in the United States last year on a student visa.
The 24-year-old man arrived in San Francisco on United Airlines on Aug. 7 on a visa issued in Shanghai, the source said. Investigators have not linked him to any terrorist groups, the source said.
Police believe three bomb threats on the campus last week may have been attempts by the man to test the campus’ security response, the source said.
The exits to the buildings where the shootings occurred were chained by the shooter, the source said.
Students complained that there were no public address announcements or other warnings on campus after the first burst of gunfire. They said the first word they received from the university was an e-mail more than two hours into the rampage — around the time the gunman struck again.
Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said authorities believed the shooting at the dorm was a domestic dispute and mistakenly thought the gunman had fled the campus.
‘‘We had no reason to suspect any other incident was going to occur,’’ he said.
He defended the university’s handling of the tragedy: ‘‘We can only make decisions based on the information you had on the time. You don’t have hours to reflect on it.’’
Steger said the university decided to rely on e-mail and other electronic means of notifying members of the university, but with 11,000 people driving onto campus first thing in the morning, it was difficult to get the word out to everyone.
Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum would not say how many weapons the gunman carried. But a law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was incomplete, said that the gunman had two pistols and multiple clips of ammunition.
How much do you want to bet that the shooter’s name has a ‘bin’ or an ‘al’ in it?
