This makes for an easy cover up:
Person has no ID and face is shot beyond recognition. They can make it be anyone and come up with a story. They will never have to reveal the truth about who this person really was...

I don’t think it’s either. In my own experience asian males can get very violent over there girlfriends. I had a friend in Kansas who was shot and his girlfriend killed because she was cheating on him with my friend. I was told along time ago don’t get between an Asian and his money or his girlfriend.
