Crystal Gail Mangum: Profile of the Duke Rape Accuser
FOXNews.com ^ | April 11, 2007 | Michael Y. Park

Some of the details of the Duke University rape case may never be solved, but one thing is startlingly clear: Crystal Gail Mangum, the woman who accused three college lacrosse players of locking her in a bathroom and raping her, has had a very troubled life.

Mangum has been identified by name publicly several times, including by lawyers during press conferences on the case.

According to North Carolina Department of Corrections records, she was born on July 18, 1978, to a truck driver. She grew up the youngest of three children, not far from the house where she claimed she was assaulted in 2006. Durham is a slow-paced Southern town with equally large populations of black and white residents and a history of racial tensions — including those between a wealthy, predominantly white university community and its poorer black neighbors.

Don’t forget that she is the one who was working in the sex industry as a prostitute and “dancer”. Get real.

She could be the star of a new TV show: Mangum P.U.

Maybe she’ll make it big off of the book deal.

No denying she was working the industry. Whom hired her knowing that she worked that industry?

“It’s time criminal charges are filed against the accuser.”

I thought filing a false accusation with the police was a crime in itself. Three lives are ruined now and not even a mention of whats going to be done about it, even with a track record of false accusations. She learned the first time nothing was going to be done about it and she did it again.

As the story goes, she tried to extort more than was originally agreed upon.

She’ll be a “victim” for sure. Why she’s black so she has to be a victim. Hell she’ll do a book-be on talk shows-Oprah-Larry King while these intelligent young men try to get their lives back on track but forever linked to this waste of space. Pisses me off. Oh yes I’m still waiting for Jessay and Al to publicly apologise to the men and their families-what’s that the sound of silence?!!!!!

Hopefully at the same time that Mike Nifong is charged with obstruction of justice.

They hired someone, not necessarily her. She was sent, and the setup began. The guys did their thing, and made a mistake. But she worked for a corrupt industry who is tightly involved with Durham government and law enforcement. So while the lacrosse players weren’t spotless, they had no idea they were getting into a thick case of community corruption that leads to very high places.

I am sick of her being referred to as a “victim” and an “exotic dancer”. She is a whacked out drunken druggie whore, and false accuser.

She’s a “troubled young lady” who should severely pay the consequences (Nifong even more so) for what she has tried to do. It seems she had other breaks in her career that should have put her away, but again the law did not work.

You might learn to hold your tongue better ... the more you smear this very troubled woman, the more you smear the boys who went out to hire her for their party. Regradless of what hse accused, the reality of that party and the intent to utilize her services remains a fact. Think about that as you watch the presser today of these young men wrongly accused.

I think you are way off base here.

The falsely accused did not hire this woman. That was done over the phone by a different person, who specifically asked for a white stripper. I fact, a lot of the disagreement at the party was over the fact that white strippers had been requested (and promised) and black ones showed up. The players felt deceived and cheated, and they were right.

As much as you might not like the idea that they hired strippers, no laws were broken on that account, and the transaction was legal.

The wrongful persecution/prosecution of these three young men was totally despicable and a bit scary. Government power is a hellish thing. Nothing changes the fact that what they endured was an injustice. Not just what they suffered from the authorities but from their own university that should have come to their defense. That said, had they been behaving themselves on that evening rather than hiring a couple of whores this never would have happened.

BS! She tried to ruin three college kids lives! So they hired her for the party. There is no evidence they asked for anything more than the strip show. That definitely is not grounds for their LaX season abruptly coming to a halt and having to put up with this crap for OVER A YEAR! Any and all insults should stand regardless of her troubled life.

A troubled life is not a license to ruin other people's lives!

There is a lesson to be learned for all men on this one. If you want to have a party with a stripper go to a strip bar (witnesses). Whether it be a bachelor party or just a beer bash for the team. Sure you pay a bit more for the drinks but it sure beats attorney fees for a year to get you out of a false charge of rape. This, of course, will cut into the profits of these "stripper delivery services", as well it should. They can do anything they want to you (as the purchaser of their "talent") up to and including extortion.

I shutter to think of the times that this very thing could have happened to friends of mine. It just isn't worth it.
