A British journalist who has challenged former Vice President Al Gore to a debate on global warming says the latest United Nations report on the purported impacts of climate change is a "prodigious overstatement" that was not developed by a scientific process, but rather a political one.
The United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released the second of four reports it plans to issue this year on global warming. During negotiations on the report, a Belgian delegate likened global warming to Adolf Hitler.
Lord Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, a former advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, says the comparison is characteristic of the political language in which the global warming debate is being conducted. "That is not the remark of the scientist," he insists. "It is the remark of a politician."
In fact, Monckton contends, "You will not find in any of the peer-reviewed papers -- except perhaps those written by James Hansen, who started this scare in the first place -- any reference to global warming being anything like Adolf Hitler. That kind of extremism is extremely rare in the scientific literature."
The Belgian delegate's comparison was "unnecessary and uncalled for," the British journalist suggests, and it may have arisen out of political self-interest. "If you're a bureaucrat and you're not used to going out and earning your own living," he says, "and you live on the taxation provided by other people, and somebody comes along and says, 'Hey, there's global warming; here's a chance for a whole lot of new taxes that'll pay for your larger and larger pensions while the pensions in the private sector disappear down the plug,' then you're going to be in favor of that.
"And so that bureaucrat who made that statement about Hitler, there's a public sector bureaucrat," Monckton asserts. "He's looking to get more taxes out of this," he says, "and that's what this is really about."
Such "frantic alarmism" about global warming, Monckton adds, is being peddled in the interest of extending what he calls "the atheistic, humanist, bureaucratic, centralist agenda, which bureaucracies worldwide tend to subscribe to." He says the IPCC has deliberately overstated a table of figures on rises in sea level and erroneously claimed that 20 percent has been added to the global warming effect of carbon dioxide in the last decade.
Gore isn't even capable of debating Daffy Duck; let alone a competent human being.
It’s good to see some actual scientists starting to take down this clown.
Godwin's Law dictates that the GW crowd lost the argument.
There are many more; they’re just not getting MSM exposure.
Sooner or later the new crop of graduates
from Journalism 101 are going to show up.
Hopefully, they’re parents will have passed
on some genetic smarts in the DNA.
I’m not taking any chances. I’m going to start leaving my refrigerator door open to help cool things off.
Lord Monckton is right on the mark as to what the real agenda of the "climate change" hysteria is all about (can't call it global warming anymore since nature is embarrassingly not keeping to the script)
If that was only the second of four papers to be issued, paper #3 and paper #4 will probably come out foaming and spitting! And “frantic alarmism” will be but a fond memory of happier days. :) As time goes by, the global warming swindlers are growing more and more desperate. After all, with all of their alarms has come a certain amount of awareness. People who once thought that the weather was just the weather are now checking climate maps and noticing that it’s cold in the winter, temperate in the spring and fall and, downright hot in the summer. lol
GW ping
do you have any sources for this?
or know where i could look?
I wish Lord Monckton would move over here and run for Congress in my district.
The Great Global Warming Swindle (Film)
Previously "Borked" by Google.
Strangely enough, actually produced by the BBC.
What would the UN bureaucrats and the IPCC panelists DO if the scientists wrote the report?
I’m sure they would be horribly, horribly offended that they didn’t get to preform their micturition ceremony before it was published.
We can’t say, pissing contest, here?
You are in good company: Thomas Sowell thought this too :0) In reality the program was put out by UK Channel 4.
We’re talking about the UN fer god’s sake, they wouldn’t be so uncouth.
<;/)
You have to use all o’dem big words ya got. Gives more “gravitas” to your speech.
It was produced by British Channel 4, which is a public service station independent of the BBC. See here:
