O'Reilly & Geraldo Almost Come To Blows
Mediabistro.com ^ | Thursday, Apr 05 | Unknown

Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera had one of the most heated war of words I've ever seen on cable news Thursday.

An illegal immigrant was charged in the drunk driving death of two girls in Virginia Beach recently. Oliver Willis says Geraldo "called out O'Reilly's xenophobia for exactly what it was. This drove Bill O'Reilly insane. I was almost certain he was going to reach across the table and hit Geraldo."

The most vicious part is on YouTube:

A minute later, after O'Reilly abruptly changed the subject because time was running out ("what are you doing on your show this weekend?"), Geraldo said: "I think that one of the wonderful things about our network is that we are fair and balanced."

"People can decide whether you're right or I'm right. And they will decide that I'm right," O'Reilly responded

Johnny Dollar has the full video...

I have to agree with Bill. The crime could have been prevented if the Illegal was never let in the country. Forget holding him in jail or deporting him, if we just start executing them that would send a signal to the rest of them.
I know its extreme but at this point, the guy is a habitual offender anyway.

Geraldo wants to claim this is only about drunk driving but as an illegal alien the guy should never have been on the road in the first place.

Also there is another issue here than no one wants to confront. I live in Texas and I can tell you that there seems to be a culture of acceptance in the Hispanic community for men driving drunk. There is not a day that goes by without some Hispanic male (some legal citizens and some not) causing mayhem to themselves and others by driving under the influence.

Call me a xenophobe if you want but I believe a study would find a greater percentage of this type of behaviour among the hispanic male population as opposed to other demographic groups.

Sleazy little worms like Jerry Rivers who defend these criminals only serve to make people detest illegal immigrants all the more. Thank you Jerry for your help. Now why don’t you go back to Afghanistan and draw a map in the dirt that will help your Taliban friends locate U.S. forces, like you did before; only this time I hope they shove a rifle butt up your treasonous @$$ before you finish.

I was hoping ORilley would poke him in the eye or something.

How about a folding chair across his face? Maybe a broken nose again....

The most laughable part of the video is when Whore-aldo says: "Illegal Aliens commit crimes at a lower rate than citizens do."

Um, EVERY illegal alien is a criminal, that's what the "illegal" means. What a dumb-ass.

Gerald Miguel Rivera. His father was from Puerto Rico. He is what island Puerto Ricans call a “New Rican” - someone who claims the heritage but does not even speak Spanish. (Note: I have no idea if he actually speaks the language or not.)

"Is it safe to say that BoR represents the average American with his stance on illegals? If so, this country is about to explode."

You raise a very good point here. My guess is that Bill O'Reilly is probably calmer about the issue than many Americans.

Is America luring the Mexicans across the border, or is their corrupt society pushing them? Back around the turn of the 20th Century, the Italian government encouraged emigration because the money the emigrant sent back from The US and Argentina was a big, big source of income for a country whose owners only paid pennies to their workers, so that the sweat shops of the New York garment industry offere what seemed good jobs by comparison. Money going back to Mexico is the second biggest source of foreign trade.

...there seems to be a culture of acceptance in the Hispanic community for men driving drunk.

There has been at least one article posted here in the last few days to that effect, starting around the time the illegal in Virginia rear-ended the car with the two girls, killing them.

You're not the only one to notice.

I am totally for Bill O'Reilly and his stance on the illegal immigrants!

Geraldo shows himself to be a total pit bull and he is coming off as half cocked!

Go Bill!

The crime could have been prevented if the Illegal was never let in the country...When I was stationed in the Phillipines this was a common and legitimate civil suit argument. Run over a pedestrian, a chicken, a goat or pig, or beat a thief up, etc. the lawyers sued and said if the Service man had never come to this country it never would have happened. GI, you are GUILTY! Pay up.

It’s good to see a person in O’rielly’s position exhibit the kind of outrage and frustration that I have to deal with everyday.

Is it safe to say that BoR represents the average American with his stance on illegals? If so, this country is about to explode.

The Right has 230,000,000 guns and 2 billion rounds of ammunition. The Left has Putz Sulzberger.

Yeah, this was a horrible exchange. Even though Geraldo made his point that this was about "a drunk driver" and not about immigration, it was clear he's an oversensitive Latino.

Geraldo's wrong. It IS about illegal immigration. This guy has been in and out of police custody for drunk driving, public intoxication, identity theft, 7 times in 6 months and he was known to be an illegal and nothing was done about it. He should have been turned over to INS and deported in October 2006, the first time he was arrested, but he wasn't. Had the local police and magistrates, the courts and the feds done their jobs 2 beautiful young American girls would still be alive.

As reported in a 2001 article, Cultural Impact, from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD):“…when you combine the Hispanic drinking culture with the lack of education on drunk driving prevention, you end up with tragic consequences.”

The article goes on, “According to research compiled by Dr. Catherine Clark of the Alcohol Policy Group in Berkeley, Calif., Hispanic drivers are more likely than Anglo drivers to consume more alcohol more frequently and have been shown to be more likely than Anglos to drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level over .05 percent.” MADD’s data indicate that 42% of all traffic fatalities involved alcohol, the percentage is increasing, and Hispanics as a group are involved at a much higher rate than their portion of the population.
As noted in a 2003 article in the Austin American Statesmen, A troubling trend: Hispanics and DWI - Latinos account for nearly half of 2002 Austin arrests:
“Of 3,007 drunken driving arrests in 2002, 43 percent involved Hispanic men, even though they make up only about 11 percent of Austin’s driving population.
Including women, Hispanics made up 47 percent of the DWI arrests but only 21 percent of Austin drivers.
…Statewide, 42 percent of the people arrested in 2002 for driving while intoxicated were Latino, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In Austin, 46 percent of the people arrested for drunk driving from 1999 to 2002 were Latino, according to the Austin Police Department.”
The impact of illegal Hispanic aliens on the law-abiding Hispanic portion of the DWI statistics is mostly unknown but it is probably sizable and giving the Hispanic community a bad reputation.
