I have to agree with Bill. The crime could have been prevented if the Illegal was never let in the country. Forget holding him in jail or deporting him, if we just start executing them that would send a signal to the rest of them.
I know its extreme but at this point, the guy is a habitual offender anyway.

The crime could have been prevented if the Illegal was never let in the country...When I was stationed in the Phillipines this was a common and legitimate civil suit argument. Run over a pedestrian, a chicken, a goat or pig, or beat a thief up, etc. the lawyers sued and said if the Service man had never come to this country it never would have happened. GI, you are GUILTY! Pay up.

I agree with Bill on this subject in general also, but not on the "could have been prevented" principle.  That argument is much like the argument that 80% of DUIs in this country are committed by white people, so let's just outlaw Caucasians.  Or if we had only allowed the mother of this bank robber in New Jersey to abort him before birth, this FBI agent would still be alive.

All three are lousy arguments attempting to justify truly valid positions.
