On 4 April, a jihadist website carried the following posting:
“After a long absence by the shaykh of mujahidin, whom we have missed as well as his speeches, some news is being leaked indicating that Shaykh Usama Bin Ladin, God protect and preserve him and make him a thorn in the throat of the enemies, will make an appearance. The news indicates that Al-Sahab Media Establishment, which specializes in publishing Al-Qa’ida leaders’ speeches, has recently finished producing a video featuring Bin Ladin’s speech to the entire Islamic nation. “
Furthermore, the poster of this note maintains that the speech includes several messages to the “mujahidin” in Iraq, the Palestinian People on “ the capitulation choice which HAMAS gave in to,” the Riyadh Arab summit, the “fears” of America and its allies of the establishment of the Islamic Caliphate state in Iraq, and the “good tidings of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

There are new rumors of what drove the early release of the hostages coming diverse sources such as Debka and Strategypage.com. Debka has always been suspect, but Strategypage.com has been more reliable and through in their analysis. They indicate that Ahmadinejad and his radical fringe lost to a more conservative Khamenei and his plans. RUMINT has it that Ahmadinejad was trying to use this to try to provoke a confrontation with the US by striking a weaker coalition partner.
Note the trend; Iranian rhetoric proceeded to an eventual crescendo threatening to try the hostages for treason. Suddenly, there is a change in plan and they are released on the prophet’s birthday with no apparent strings attached. This switch was due to Khamenei stepping in and overruling Ahmadinejad. Debka also notes that the PR effects suffered greatly this time around and it did more to hurt Tehran’s goals than help. Thus now Tehran is trying to milk the “generosity” that they have shown.
The potential for something more serious to occur in the gulf remains. If Strategypage.com is correct, this is the second set back for Ahmadinejad. As a radical believer, Ahmadinejad believes he is on a mission from god, and failure is not an option. Thus his next attempt might be more dangerous and actually trigger a shooting war with the US.
I tend to agree with that analysis more than any of the others, Godzilla, especially the part about Ahmadinjad’s next possible move. I suspect he may release some fake intel through a marginally reliable source that shows a “credible” threat requiring an immediate response. He may be hoping for a replay of the “WMD/no WMD” scenario, where we got data from folks who embellished in order to get US help taking down Saddam. In this scenario, he could possibly be standing by with data that directly refutes the trigger for an attack. He might even try to convince us that there is a storehouse of bomb parts or manufacturing equipment in what is really an orphanage or some other “innocent” location, just to increase the PR damage.
I pray that any intel we get regarding Iran in the future is verified extremely carefully.
I’d take it one step further. There are other sources that indicate that Imanutjob and the radical fringe is in an increasing bitter struggle with the old guard religious leaders. He wants the Madhi to arrive, they just want to stay in power. The Madhi arrives through war, conflict will either kill the old guard, or cause enough turmoil that the internal factions wanting a more democratic rule will be able to rise up and overthrow them. Thus, to prevent further set backs, Imanutjob will have to maneuver two elements - the old guard imans as well as tweaking the US/Brit forces, so that he cannot suffer another set back and can move forward with his vision of conflict.
It seems his best bet, then, is stoking conflict between the two so that he can sit back and wait by the well for the 12th imam while everyone else dukes it out. It’s a safe bet that almost any action by the US will turn some of the anti-government elements within the country against us, and throw them on the side of Khameini, Ahmadinejad, or both. All he has to do is get us to unwittingly hit a sensitive and sympathetic target, and a number of people will fall off the fence on their side.
A fair assessment. But the Khamenini faction saw that the hostage incident was causing them to fall on the anti-government side. One commentator put it that though the Brits lacked military punch, they could inflict severe economic pain onto an already hurting Iranian economy (source for a significant number of anti-government elements)do to the existing trade ties. The fact that Imanutjob acted on such an overt act suggests that he thinks he is losing the power struggle with Khameini. This act did give him initial leverage. That leverage did not stand the test of time and now the hostages are home. Will that desperation push the envelope further?
We watch. And wait.

Large-Scale Terrorist Attacks On America

I was talking to a friend of mine today and he asked me if I had gotten anything this last week from the Lord. I wasn’t sure what he was referring to so I just listened. He then proceeded to tell me that last Wednesday the Lord prompted him to pray over America, concerning high-scale and very dramatic terrorist attacks that are on the near horizon. He then asked me if I ever get those urgencies.
Not realizing the impact that this question was going to make, we all got into our vehicles and headed to Bob Evans. While driving there, Cathy and I began to reminisce about how often we are prompted about future terrorist attacks being planned against this nation. Often and while on the road we communicate about just how easy it would be to pull off city and nation wide attacks on Wal-marts (American made!), major bridges, monuments like the Statue of Liberty, factories, and cities in general, not to mention major infrastructures like multiple-stacked bridges (Like roads in Chicago that have many bridges over-lying each other within the city.)
My friend then told me that this last week he felt led to pray over places like Schools and Churches. Places that would get right to the heart of our LIBERTY.
I have felt often led and impressed about bridges, public places like Wal-Mart, and monumental areas like the Statue of liberty.
What it all boils down to is this:
There is going to be a planned attack one day that will challenge the very core of our liberties in America.&n bsp; I believe that this terrorist attack will attempt to cause America to never ever feel safe again in public places, like those mentioned above. The very core they wish to destroy is LIBERTY.
Recently my wife and I watched over 15 different Middle Eastern men stake out a Wal-Mart Supercenter. They pointed out how the rows were laid out, where the cameras were located. They walked up and down every single aisle within that Wal-Mart, then headed to the counters to purchase a few penny and dollar items. BOTH my wife and I could tell that these men were up to no good. IT was soooo obvious that we literally thought that they were going to attempt to do something right then and ther e.
Don’t think that the terrorist attacks on this nation are done. Don’t even assume this group has fallen asleep. We are getting warning likes this from other prayer warriors all over this nation. People in nearly every city that we have gone in have been STRONGLY impressed lately to pray for up and coming terrorist attempts on this nation. In some cases they are feeling as if the plans are right around the corner.

PIJ outreach effort continue
We have been noting for a few weeks now that elements of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, based at least in part in the West Bank, have been engaged in a concerted effort to reach out to Salafi-Jihadi type folks. The following turned up this week on a jihadist forum not in any way affiliated with the PIJ:
The logo in the upper left-hand corner is that of the PIJ.
The guy who posted it uses as his avatar a picture of Zarqawi.
These things are not accidental, and this effort is likely aimed at recruiting jihadis into the PIJ, because the PIJ has money and expertise but is short on manpower, and the jihadis, particularly the Palestinian jihadis, have the motivation but lack the infrastructure.
The centerpiece of this effort is the PIJ forum which when last seen had the name quds4.com. Happily it remains offline, but the PIJ’s outreach efforts continue.

Pelosi embarked on a fool’s errand to Damascus this week, and among the issues she said she would raise with Assad - when she wasn’t on the Lady Hester Stanhope tour in the capital of imprisoned dissidents Aref Dalila, Michel Kilo, and Anwar Bunni - is “the role of Syria in supporting Hamas and Hizbullah.” What the speaker doesn’t seem to have realized is that if Syria is made an obligatory passage in American efforts to address the Lebanese crisis, then Hizbullah will only gain. Once Assad is re-anointed gatekeeper in Lebanon, he will have no incentive to concede anything, least of all to dilettantes like Pelosi, on an organization that would be Syria’s enforcer in Beirut if it could re-impose its hegemony over its smaller neighbor.”

Palestinians “Offended” by German Chancellor’s Pro-Israel Stance

PA officials have accused German Chancellor Angela Merkel of “offending the Palestinians’ feelings” during her visit earlier this week to Ramallah, where she met with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. “She did everything to provoke the Palestinians during her visit,” said one official on Monday. “She showed no understanding for the plight of our people. On the other hand, she appeared to be very biased toward Israel.” The official claimed that while Merkel refused to meet with families of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel, she focused during her talks with Abbas on the need to release kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit, who has been held in Gaza since last June. In addition, he noted, Merkel met with the families of missing IDF soldiers during her visit to Jerusalem.
