My kid has chicken pox...again? Vanity

Posted on 03/28/2007 1:12:30 PM PDT by hiramknight

As my frustration with the state of Massachusetts grows, I found out a few days ago that my 14 year old daughter has the chicken pox. Shortly thereafter, I was enlightened to the fact that there were a number of cases of the virus being endured by kids of all ages in my daughter's school system. A small epidemic. Now before evoking judgment for posting such a boring thread, here's the punch line. Most of the cases are repeats. That's right, many of the kids have already had the chicken pox, including my daughter.

Now that I've got your attention, let me go a little further with this. Back in November, a healthy, beautiful, vibrant, intelligent and active young lady of 14, was stricken by an unknown aliment. She went into a coma, and on February 2, passed away after a multitude of complications caused by the virus destroying her internal organs. Doctors have no clue as to what it was, and probably never will.

We live in a country with medical care that's second to none. In the past, if you had the chicken pox, you didn't get them again, period. We used to have chicken pox parties so we could it over with, remember? And how can a healthy, strong, young girl, be so aggressively, and incurably attacked, and succomb while in the care of one of the most respected hospitals in the world (Children of Boston).

At the risk of being a politically incorrect conspiracy theorist thug. At the risk of having my tongue torn out and eyes gouged out by the Duval, Kennedy, Kerry, cronie liberals of this state, I'm going to offer one explanation that may explain both instances.

Over the last five years or so, my town has been invaded by illegals from Brazil, Guatemala, and Equador. You can't drive down main street without counting 50 of them. They gather by the hundreds on Sundays in our town parks to the point where the parks are unusable by the people who pay the taxes to maintain them. They come here from rain forests and mountains without medical screening, carrying who knows what. They throw their kids into our school system where they hack and wease whatever they're carrying for all to breathe in. When is it going to stop? Why are my tax dollars paying for the education of people who are making my kids sick? Is it so unreasonable for me to theorize that they may be carrying strains of sicknesses that we haven't seen before? Am I so cynical to believe that this may have crossed minds of the experts, but at the risk of being politically incorrect, has not been introduced as a viable possibility?

I hope this thread finds the eyes of someone who may be in a position to underscore, in a public forum, this subject as a potentially catastrophic effect of illegal immigration. My states government doesn't care about the cost of supporting illegals. They don't care about the increased crime rate at the hands of illegals. They don't care if we're hit and killed by unlicensed driver illegals. They don't care that illegals are taking jobs that used to pay decent money for peanuts. They don't care that most of that money is going back "home". They just plain are putting the welfare of these ILLEGAL immigrants before the welfare of the people who are paying their salary.

Maybe they'll bat an eye if someone can convince them that they might be silently killing our kids.

"And you got the cajones to call ME an idiot. Wake up stupid... we lost the last election and were doing everything we can to lose another. If you vote conservative in MA... YOUR VOTE MEANS NOTHING.

The best thing this guy can do IMMEDIATELY for himself and his family... is to GTF out!"

So when you are defeated you runaway from a challenge?

LOL!

If our founders were like YOU, we'd still be under the crown.

Republicans are STUPID.

They can take over ANY state they want if they apply themselves. South Jersey is VERY Republican. It didn't start out that way ... the politicians took care of their constituents - if one had a problem they called their representative and got what they needed. For example, one had a kid that was bright and interested in oceanography ... one Republican had a connection with Jacques Cousteau - nest thing you know the kid and Jacque managed a meeting and secured a position with him. If anything Republicans which are BUSINESS friendly should be able to leverage their connections in helpful, healthy ways.

Stupid Republicans don't typically HELP their constituents. Instead Demoncrats help them out through taxes. You'll NEVER get wealthy on welfare or hand outs.

Um, no.

The vaccine creates the same immune response.

Your argument is built on quicksand. Todays MA voter is a Torey... who either works for the crown... or draws his dole from it. Your reference to the revolution is appropriate though... for it will take one(or another civil war) to restore this nation to its original course.

Probably not a good idea to listen to the family doctor. He/she is just repeating what was learned in medical school.

I had chickenpox as a kid and twice more as an adult. My M.D. didn't believe me so I went to see him. He took one look and told me to leave immediately. It was chicken pox. He concluded I didn't have it before. He was totally wrong. When you have chicken pox, YOU KNOW IT. It's in your ears, your nose, and places I won't even describe.

Re the illegals, they are bringing in diseases that this country hasn't seen in decades. They have tape worms, drug resistant TB and even leprosy.

I was exposed to siblings and friends as a kid and never got it. Then I got it from youngest son when I was in my mid-30s. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

My daughter was fully vaccinated and got measles anyway... I think they help a little, but they sure aren't the foolproof antidote we were told they were.

No, not really. I understand that it creates a much milder response and does not confer to infants.

My brother had an outbreak of shigles within two days of getting the MMR shot before going to college.

It left scars up and down the right side of his shoulder and back. The outbreak was all on the right side of his upper body on the same side the MMR shot was on.

Don't forget about Hepatitis, thats a biggie

Why I keep up to date on my vaccines. In the past two years - Hep A, Hep B, pneumococcal polysaccharide (PPV), varicella, TDP, typhoid, MMR, Influenza, and Yellow Fever.

These are boosters from my world wide deployment Government Series (that included Smallpox).

For people over 60, a shingles vaccine is available. You might want to look into it.

She was 11 I think and developed pneumonia.

Look into the pneumococcal polysaccharide (PPV) vaccine. I took it - zero side effects for me.

MOVE? Are you insane. I live in the same town that the poster of this thread. He is not exaggerating about the illegal immigrant problem in our town. I work in health care and have seen an increase in the number of TB cases along with other parasitic diseases.

As far as your suggestion to move. THIS IS OUR TOWN, THIS WAS OUR PARENTS TOWN, THIS WAS OUR GRANDPARENTS TOWN AND WE WANT THIS TO BE OUR CHILDRENS' TOWN. So instead of telling us to move, how about we send the criminals to their towns out of this country.

It WAS... your town.

Your fellow citizens have placed men/women in elected office who have taken it from you. YOU are the minority my FRfriend... even though there are many who feel as we do... the majority continues to send officials to Beacon Hill/Washington who despise our ideals, values and convictions.

You will not see a change in your lifetime... and it's likely... neither will your children.
