My kid has chicken pox...again? Vanity

Posted on 03/28/2007 1:12:30 PM PDT by hiramknight

As my frustration with the state of Massachusetts grows, I found out a few days ago that my 14 year old daughter has the chicken pox. Shortly thereafter, I was enlightened to the fact that there were a number of cases of the virus being endured by kids of all ages in my daughter's school system. A small epidemic. Now before evoking judgment for posting such a boring thread, here's the punch line. Most of the cases are repeats. That's right, many of the kids have already had the chicken pox, including my daughter.

Now that I've got your attention, let me go a little further with this. Back in November, a healthy, beautiful, vibrant, intelligent and active young lady of 14, was stricken by an unknown aliment. She went into a coma, and on February 2, passed away after a multitude of complications caused by the virus destroying her internal organs. Doctors have no clue as to what it was, and probably never will.

We live in a country with medical care that's second to none. In the past, if you had the chicken pox, you didn't get them again, period. We used to have chicken pox parties so we could it over with, remember? And how can a healthy, strong, young girl, be so aggressively, and incurably attacked, and succomb while in the care of one of the most respected hospitals in the world (Children of Boston).

At the risk of being a politically incorrect conspiracy theorist thug. At the risk of having my tongue torn out and eyes gouged out by the Duval, Kennedy, Kerry, cronie liberals of this state, I'm going to offer one explanation that may explain both instances.

Over the last five years or so, my town has been invaded by illegals from Brazil, Guatemala, and Equador. You can't drive down main street without counting 50 of them. They gather by the hundreds on Sundays in our town parks to the point where the parks are unusable by the people who pay the taxes to maintain them. They come here from rain forests and mountains without medical screening, carrying who knows what. They throw their kids into our school system where they hack and wease whatever they're carrying for all to breathe in. When is it going to stop? Why are my tax dollars paying for the education of people who are making my kids sick? Is it so unreasonable for me to theorize that they may be carrying strains of sicknesses that we haven't seen before? Am I so cynical to believe that this may have crossed minds of the experts, but at the risk of being politically incorrect, has not been introduced as a viable possibility?

I hope this thread finds the eyes of someone who may be in a position to underscore, in a public forum, this subject as a potentially catastrophic effect of illegal immigration. My states government doesn't care about the cost of supporting illegals. They don't care about the increased crime rate at the hands of illegals. They don't care if we're hit and killed by unlicensed driver illegals. They don't care that illegals are taking jobs that used to pay decent money for peanuts. They don't care that most of that money is going back "home". They just plain are putting the welfare of these ILLEGAL immigrants before the welfare of the people who are paying their salary.

Maybe they'll bat an eye if someone can convince them that they might be silently killing our kids.

I believe you've NAILED it.

Now, I'm NOT trying to "alarm" you, but it's believed that a "low grade" infection of chicken pox which is NOT fully fought off by the body CAN result in shingles in later life....and they are VERY painful. So, don't hold back on the meds.

How many received flu shots or other "immunizations" before the repeat outbreaks?

I am a middle school nurse (IN) and we are seeing chicken pox here. The state has found that kids that were vaccinated for Chicken Pox between 1997-99 are getting a weakened form of chicken pox. I guess the vaccine was not of the correct strength.

Sorry for all you have to go through....

I had chicken pox at a young age, and according to my mother, I was in pretty bad shape. I'm almost 60 now. Both of my kids had the pox when they were young. The oldest was about 5. My youngest was about 6 months at the time. About two years ago, my oldest son (then about 38), developed shingles, but has not had any reoccurrance since. God only knows what these illegals are bringing in to this country. Back when my father and his parents came through Ellis Island (1912), they used to isolate the men and women for several days to determine if they had any diseases before releasing them into the community. My grandmother ended up dying of TB about 8 years after she got here. I've always wondered if she might have caught it on the ship coming over from Holland. She was a housewife with 3 boys who never worked a day in a factory.

My oldest son developed shingles in his eye. Fortunately it was caught early and didn't spread, but he was on medication for quite a while, and there's no telling if it will ever come back.

I also believe if you had a mild case when you were very young, you can get them again. They can be very dangerous and chickenpox parties may not be such a great idea after all.

Is it chicken pox or mumps that you don't want to get as an adult? I've heard mumps can make a adult sterile.

The Center for Disease Control raised the alarm several years ago about new strains being brought in.

An additional alert: UK hospitals have a very serious problem with infections because Muslim workers, and visitors to patients, refuse to wash their hands using the anti-bacterial soap that is routinely placed in the restrooms. They will not use the soap because it contains alcohol and they won't let it touch their skin. Be careful if you live in an area where you or your family are exposed to Muslims (for more reasons than one, obviously).

We need to "move" ILLEGALS back to where ever they came from.

LMAO!

And you got the cajones to call ME an idiot. Wake up stupid... we lost the last election and were doing everything we can to lose another. If you vote conservative in MA... YOUR VOTE MEANS NOTHING.

The best thing this guy can do IMMEDIATELY for himself and his family... is to GTF out!

I had a nasty case when I was young, and a nasty case again as an adult, and if that's any indication that I don't in fact have an immunity to that illness, I'll report if it comes back a THIRD time. My mother also had nasty chicken pox twice. Some folks have gaps in the normal immune system.

One of my sons had chicken pox twice. The first was a very mild case, the second was full blown.

"Shingles BITES. I don't want to imagine what it would be like with chickenpox at the same time."

I had shingles on my face and in my eyes. One cornea is permanently scarred. The pain was off the charts.

Yeah, it sucks here, but where are you supposed to move where you're not in contact with illegals? If you eat out at all you are at risk. There's plenty of other good reasons to GTHO of Mass.

I knew a boy who had chicken pox about three or four times. A lot of times it depends on the severity. I had chicken pox at the age of two. When I was exposed again at seven, I did not get it, but I did get a nice roselli (or whatever it's called) rash.

Four of my children got it right after Christmas, 2005. The one year old got a light case. You couldn't even tell he had it. A few months later he had little bumps showing up all over. It wasn't until he was done with it again, that we realized it was his second case of chicken pox.

My son, who was vaccinated for chicken pox, had a pretty good case of them last month. It went around his school as well. The doctor said that they've been seeing more and more of this over the last few years. She didn't have an explanation why.

Maybe the vaccine has caused the thing to mutate and now even those who had real chicken pox aren't immune from the mutated version. Just a non-immigration bit of foil to ponder. Just ask yourself, if there was some evidence for this but it was not confirmed, would the health establishment come out and admit their little vaccine was a bad idea? Not until they are retired and a new crop rules the roost.
