A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to Warm Fuzzy Wednesday at the Finest. For those who start counting the days on Monday until the weekend, we're halfway there! So we're here to banish those doldrums and make you smile inside! Please feel free to post sweet graphics and/or little stories that make you feel all warm and fuzzy - or just come by and give us a smile. Only two more days 'til the weekend!

I am a HUGE fan of redtails, Gracie. I see them all the time above the city. For no reason, I will look up and there they are gliding.

Just happened to see your post before I sign off; hope you and son had a great day... I'm sure you did!!

Noon

READ: Psalm 23

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. —Psalm 23:2

Our office is a busy place where things sometimes feel like they are moving at breakneck speed. This often involves meeting after meeting, hallway conferences, and an avalanche of e-mail.

In the midst of this extreme busyness, I sometimes feel the need to escape, to decompress. My response? To create a quiet place. On those days when I have no lunch meeting, I retreat to the quiet of my car. I grab some lunch and sit in my car, where I can read, listen to music, think, pray—and be refreshed.

I think this is the essence of what the shepherd-psalmist points to in Psalm 23:2. He sees the Good Shepherd bringing him to “still waters”—that is, waters to rest by. It pictures a quiet place, a retreat from the pressures of life, where you can rest in the presence of the Shepherd of your heart and be strengthened for what lies ahead. Even Jesus withdrew to a solitary place to pray and commune with His Father (Mark 1:35).

We all need retreats in our lives, not only because of the overwhelming nature of life, but because of our dependence on the resources of the Master. In our fast-paced days, it is essential to find a place of solitude, “a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.” Where’s yours?

There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God,
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God. —McAfee

When we draw near to God our minds are refreshed and our strength is renewed!

Hi (((Dita)))
Aren't they impressive birds! :) Here are our friends from the refuge ;) The male has eyesight troubles. I'm not sure what happened with the female.

We enjoy seeing a Redtail who hangs around our neighborhood and yard. I just hope he doesn't get our residential bunny ;)

Hi, my friend! Those redtails are beautiful. I ache for them not being able to fly and do what they are made to do, to soar and swoop.

Once, I was walking into one of the canyons in the Santa Monica Mountains to go for a hike and saw a redtail swoop down and capture a rodent. Not sure if it was rat or possum. (Actually, possums are marsupials.)

There are tall eucalyptus trees on the hill behind my apartment building, and I would often see one or two redtails perched in the highest branches. But I have not seen them in a long time... sad they left....:(

So, how was your day with son...?
