A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....03-23,24,25-07....T.G.I.F. at the Finest

Posted on 03/23/2007 5:15:41 AM PDT by GodBlessUSA

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Thank you so much EMB
I so appreciate your posts of photos and captions of our Military. The top picture looks great on my desk top. :)

Hero Cpl. Jason Dunham's name will carry on defending America, always. His heroic sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For Her

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her. —Ephesians 5:25 When my wife had dental surgery, she was out of commission for the weekend. While she was recuperating, I had the daunting task of taking care of her and the kids. I cooked, washed dishes, made special trips to the store for her, and bathed the kids. When I saw all I had done, I thought to myself, I deserve extra credit and reciprocal service when she gets better. Before I gave myself too many pats on the back, however, the Holy Spirit reminded me that what I was doing was my privilege and duty as a Christian husband.

In Paul’s time, many believed the husband’s needs dominated the household, and the wife existed to fulfill his needs and to serve him. The Christian view was quite different, however. Women were seen as persons of equal worth. The wife was transformed from an accessory to a person of intrinsic value, becoming the focus of her husband’s concern. Instead of demanding that she live for him, he was to serve her!

Ephesians 5:25 portrays Christ as loving the church and giving Himself for her. And verse 29 indicates that Jesus nourishes and cares for her. As husbands pursue Christlikeness, they have the privilege and duty to sacrifice, nurture, and care for their wives.

Despite the faults that spouses have,
Their marriage still can thrive;
But both must look to God for help—
He’ll keep their love alive.  —Branon

If you think it’s possible to love your wife too much, you probably haven’t loved her enough.

Oh, that Tananger is Beautiful, Meg, and I have a White Flowering Dogwood that is a Lovely Tree!

I've been in a Dream Most of this Day, because I was Finally Able to Go Hiking through the Woods on the King's Ranch, and it was Wonderful Beyond Telling, a Gift from the Grace of our Mighty King! Something Unexpected Happened; Even though about 2 Years had Elapsed Since I've Stepped Foot on that Part of the Property, it Strangely Felt as if No Time At All had Gone By, and I was just Taking Up where I'd Left Off. What a Blessing this Day was!!

To Be Praised Forever is our Blessed Redeemer, Who 'Gives unto us Beauty for Ashes, and the Oil of Joy for Mourning.' (Is.61:3) 'Thou hast turned for me my Mourning into Dancing: Thou hast Put Off my Sackcloth, and Girded me with Gladness.' (Ps.30:11) The Depths of His Mercy are Endless; our Wells of Joy Shall Never Run Dry!

Have a Restful and Peaceful Night, Dear Finest FRiends!
