I was originally against linking a GOE event with the Rolling Thunder Event on Memorial day and I still believe this is correct. But, the Rolling Thunder Event is a great event for us to learn the next lessons on how to make a difference. We should join in and support this event and work on raising the profile of the Rolling Thunder event in the national media by whatever means we might devise.
We would support and take a background position but work on the issues that needed improving for the GOE event. Most specifically, getting the media there and paying attention.
So why would 500,000 bikers be interesting... gees.. is like we really have to ask this question? But this is a reality. So how do you get the eye looking at you.. Celebrities.. Zell Miller, Joe Lieberman, General Tommy Franks, Arnold!, Mitch McConnell, Rudy Guiliani, Mitt Romney, Toby Kieth, James Caviezel, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bruce Willis, Gary Sinise.. alot more than you would think. I don't know how many would jump at this under the current conditions but I bet many more than you would initially think.. especially for Rolling Thunder if they knew what this meant.
Right Leaning Celebrities
Its important to highlight Rolling Thunder's message and get these guys on center front stage.

Jay Leno would be a fine addition if he would do it. But, Jay wouldn't be sufficient to get the Alphabet Media to cover Rolling Thunder. Still, Not a bad idea.
The celebrity thing would be for like a main stage where speeches and music would be playing. Perhaps off of the front of the Lincoln Memorial like during MLK's march on Washington.
Now if we could get a speech like that.. mmmm..

I think the obvious next thing to do would be to show up at Congressmen's office during their upcoming break and demand funding of supplemental.
BAsic PR. The way you get media coverage is to create an event which will provide interesting photos and controversial soundbites. Then you preview it in press releases. It is no accident that President Bush referred to Dem bill in the house "political theatre." So also is everything Cindy Sheehan does theatre planned and promoted by a PR form. It was the political theatre of Sore Loserman that get me interested in FR.
So, come up with a mantra, and an event that is photogenic.
