Will Tony Snow be gone soon?
3/20/07 | Vanity

Posted on 03/20/2007 12:21:20 PM PDT by pabianice

It is becoming evident to many -- including me -- that Tony Snow, as White House Press Secretary -- has had to bite his tongue more and more lately because the president will not or cannot defend his administration. At press conferences he is backed into a corner by the snarling mad dog MSM, which knows what blood smells like and knows the president does not fight back on domestic issues. Snow is a fighter and this appears to be eating away at him slowly. I expect his resignation before the fall. This would be a significant loss.

I've never been thrilled with the idea of Tony Snow as press secretary. While I disagree with him on many issues, he was a lot better at speaking his own mind than pushing the White House viewpoint.

He won't step down until he has gathered enough juicy content for his book. He has already had his ticket punched and will have a job for life with the media. He is in the most interesting place he could possibly be and does a good job. I would love to be the fly on the wall in his office.

Hmmm, that would make him elegible to run for President in 2008.

I wonder... Hell, better than Rudy!

It won't be a loss since Bush won't let his press secretary do anything, regardless of who it is. Walter Mitty could be the press sec and it would be the same as the Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket.

Well, he was all for amnesty for illegals before he got the job, so why would he desert the country's biggest advocate for amnesty?

Unless he is sure that the President and the Democrats will have made amnesty the law by May, and thus "Mission Accomplished".

Let's face it - like his father George Bush has given up and is just playing out the string. His only "accomplishment" for the rest of his term will be amnesty and open borders, for which the Democrats will get credit, not him. Barring a last minute change of heart, or getting some heart, his legacy will be a Republican Party back in the permanent minority like it was after Watergate, with no Reagan on the horizon.

Who would want to work in that environment? We've come a long way since September 20, 2001.

He should. The second term of this administration is looking like a train-wreck.

I am shocked—and pleased—to see that you survive after posting that sort of thing, because I'm pretty sure I recall seeing even longtime FReepers zotted for less.

Thank god we hate gun rights and welfare to work programs and thank god for "Rudy". I will NOT vote. Im looking for three or four acres in the middle of nowhere where electrified barbed wire is still legal. Anyone got anything in Va. like that. This is just a note that for the first time since Reagans second term I WILL NOT BE VOTING!!!! Say what you will but there are no candidates worth my time. I will hunker down and hope that the democrats dont destroy us but "Rudy" WILL NOT GET MY VOTE!!!!

I don't see how anyone with one iota of self respect can stand up there day after day and just absorb the partisan punches from the DBM without being allowed to hit back.

Snow will be one of the next to leave.

Yet another one-issue trick pony bringing their immigration tantrum into a thread.

Get a freaking life, will ya?

Who cares? This administration neutered itself in 2004. It has not shown an iota of testicular fortitude since then. Every chance they had to slam the Dems, they backed down. Even now, with the U.S. Attorney flap. They could headbutt the Dems into submission on that issue, but they avoid conflict like a battered woman.

They're toast, milqtoast.
