I agree. If the Republicans insist on nominating Rudy I will either stay home or vote third party.

A number of Republicans on the trash Ann Colter said that Conservatives could stay home, they weren't needed, the Republicans could win without them.

I guess that the '06 election was a victory for the Republicans when only few Conservatives stayed home. They showed the Democrats!

Should either John MCCain, Rudy, or Mitt get the Republican nomination for President, the slaughter of Republicans at the polls will make '06 look like a cakewalk.

>>>Rudy Giuliani is a MEMBER of Stonewall Vets<<<

Obituary of Harry Hay's

Henry “Harry” Hay, the founder of the modern American gay movement, died on October 24, 2002 at age 90.

(snip)

Hay devoted his entire life to progressive politics, and in 1950 founded a state-registered foundation network of support groups for gays known as the Mattachine Society.

(snip)

Hay was also a co-founder, in 1979, of the Radical Faeries, a movement affirming gayness as a form of spiritual calling. A rare link between gay and progressive politics

(snip)

“Harry was one of the first to realize that the dream of equality for our community could be attained through visibility and activism,” said David M. Smith of the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, DC. “When you were in a room with him, you had the sense you were in the company of a historic figure.”

(snip)

“Mattachine” took its name from a group of medieval dancers who appeared publicly only in mask, a device well understood by homosexuals of the 1950s. Hay devised its secret cell structure (based on the Masonic order) to protect individual gays and the nascent gay network. Officially co-gender, the group was largely male -- the Daughters of Bilitis, the pioneering lesbian organization, formed independently in San Francisco in 1956.

(snip)

Though some criticized the Mattachine movement as insular, it grew to include thousands of members in dozens of chapters, which formed from Berkeley to Buffalo, and created a lasting national framework for gay organizing. Mattachine set the stage for rapid civil rights gains following 1969’s Stonewall riots in New York City.

NAMBLA emerged from the tumultuous political atmosphere of the 1970s, particularly from the leftist wing of the Gay Liberation movement which followed the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City. Although discussion of gay adult-minor sex did take place, gay rights groups immediately following the Stonewall Riot were more concerned with issues of police harassment, nondiscrimination in employment, health care and other areas.

"But please consider the consequences: UNCHECKED Marxist Dem power: Dem President, larger Dem Control of both Houses of Congress AND activist judges nominated and confirmed by Dems, handing ALL THREE BRANCHES of the US government over to the treasonous, socialist Dems."

And if we aren't careful, Republicans just might go to the polls and vote one of them into office.

The only difference in a Liberal Rudy Giuliani and Liberal Hillary Clinton is the fact of which bathrooms they select to use and there are some who are willing to even question that.

lol

I really believe we will lose this election to the democrats if we elect a liberal in the primary.

As a Conservative, I would rather back a Conservative Republican Candidate and see him lose the Presidential Election on principal than back a Liberal Republican IN Name Only like Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain, who will end up stabbing me in the back anyway and govern himself by poll and focus groups. The base would rather lose on principals than win out of convenience and the leaders of the Republican Party better start realizing that.

Well said, and I am in total agreement.

I do believe that our conservative priniples are winning priniples, if we can continue to get the message out.

Can you imagine was a liberal like Rudy would do to this message, we have worked so hard to get out to the American people?

"The base would rather lose on principals than win out of convenience"

Talk about taking a long walk on a short pier. That's all very pretty except we are at war and the Dims side with our enemy.

Those who fancy themselves as "The Base" can suckle principal all day and night. The rest will endeavor to preserve our union.

You asked.. that's what I think.

The arrogant RNC uses selective hearing, preferring to shove the liberals down our throats. So give naught to the RNC. Give only to your proven conservative candidate. And if he doesn't appear on our ballot, I, for one, will write in his name rather than give my vote to a hypocrite. Rather a Demonrat wins than another wimpy RINO. That's MHO.

I doubt you do. You don't respect anybody who values and votes for conservative values. Knowing your history, you'll be accusing him of supporting Hillary in short time.

Here is an excellent response by sofaman to the ludicrous "no difference between Rudy and Hillary or R& Ds":

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1799208/posts?page=146#146

"There is the misconception the Republican and Democrats are two distinct parties. They are becoming more alike as time passes."
Disagree completely. The WOT is an example of 2 parties that could not be further apart ideologically.

"There are socialists in both parties. Those in the Republican party are taking control as evident by a socialist like Guiliani (sic) actually being considered as a candidate. They are essentially one party with like minded socialist ideologies.

Again, couldn't disagree more. Rudy cut taxes numerous times. Democrats don't cut taxes, I'm sure we can agree.

" Unfortunately too many people focus on the party labels instead of the ideology. Forming another party would be a second, not third party."

Sorry, strike three. Ideology has it's place but uncompromising ideology is fanatical, imho. I honestly believe, no insult intended, that the "two parties are no different" argument is a cop-out used in an attempt to justify a third party vote.

The Republican and Democrat Parties are poles apart as even a cursory examination of each party will prove.

There may be similarities in certain areas, example illegal immigration, however, there are more disagreements than agreements. A listen to Harry "The Body" Reid, Bela Pelosi or Lardass Murtha for two minutes, proves the point. These are the people that speak for the "Democratics".

Employing a phrase such as "socialists like Rudy", is pure sophistry. It is patently not a credible statement and really does interfere with honest discourse.

G-d, I'm long-winded. Sorry about that.

You want opinions ok.The guy in Washington now is NOT a conservative.True he's better then any Democrap, but he's not a conservative regardless to what some people here say. That being said I'm not convinced there are enough TRUE conservatives left in the country today to elect anybody to public office at the national level. We've had 2\3 rds of a century of liberal\marxist indoctrination here in the USA and like it or not it shows in different forms every day.The fact is the best we might get is Giuliani,Romney or McCain and at their worst I'd take em over Obama or Clinton any day of the week !!!

I am firmly convinced that there is a segment of the population on FR that WANTS us to lose because it is a lot easier to sit back and gripe about the other side messing things up than supporting your own side trying to govern.

The first-tier candidates on the Republican side are far from perfect from almost any perspective - McCain stabbed conservatives in the back repeatedly, Romney flip-flopped on many important issues, and Guiliani has some liberal positions on social issues. They are front-runners because they do have strengths - McCain has a very large base of support in the RNC, Romney is a telegenic former Governor and Guiliani has his image as "America's Mayor" from September 11th.

Unfortunately, conservatives have failed miserably at grooming anyone in the Party who has a snowball's chance in Hades of being elected President in '08. Hunter, Brownback, Tancredo, Thompson and the rest of the second tier simply do not have the credentials to be serious candidates from the Republican Party. Gingrich has negatives that would prevent him from being elected dogcatcher. Democrats can get away with nominating empty suits, lightweights and such because they control the media who will happily cover up the gross inadequacies of the flavor of the week. Pubbies do not have that luxury.

OK, rant off ;-)

I hope a great conservative candidate emerges who can win the nomination and then sweep the nation the way Reagan did, but I just can not see anyone in the wings. That being said, I am pushing Michael Steele as a VP candidate for whoever gets the GOP nod for President. I believe he could be great if he gets some more depth on his resume!

Really? So you were elected to speak for the "base"?

Believe me, he knows the base.

Even if only 1/10th of this base stayed home, we'd lose.

There are some folks who will not vote for a man who promotes abortion, the homosexual agenda, and gun control. You might see these as 1 issue voters but they add up to alot of voters who will never cast a vote for Rudy.

The amount of fight, or should I say the lack thereof, in you is sickening, you are nothing more then a win at any cost and damn the consequences... and screw anyone who disagrees with your "Fair Opinion".

Enjot the ride to the bottom, TWirP, covertly pushing a Progressive socialist agenda, and claiming to give a rat's arse about conservatism. Even aRnie can't hide his Progressive stripes, so why should anyone buy your canned spam?

Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney trying to sell themselves to the base as having Conservative Credentials, but when one looks at their records and how they have governed, it has been anything but Conservative...

What did Governor Romney do while governor of Massachusetts that was liberal?
