I heard this news while in the car on my way home. I am so angry...all I can say is, "Damn, damn, double damn, two hells and a by gosh." I can't watch the the gloating by the left-wing media! I hope Libby gets some new lawyers, because I don't think he got the best representation available. Why do Republicans get Democrat lawyers to represent them when we have good Republican lawyers like Victoria Toensing, Joseph E. diGenova, and Ted Olson? I don't believe either of them would have allowed a former Washington Post reporter who had written a book about spies be a juror. The whole damn trial makes no sense. There needs to be a trial about the lies of the media!

Denis is claiming he's an Independent but registered Democrat?!?

Proof positive that Washingtoon, CYA is absolutely the most corrupt city in the nation. Berger walks, Clinton walks and Libby is convicted of having a bad memory!!!!!!!!!!! This government needs a total overhaul.

I don't think he did anything wrong - he was following orders. So Bush or Cheney told him to lie. Better hope not or the Dems will be going for an impeachment. I recall Bush telling everyone in his administration to tell the truth to the investigators because he wanted to know how the leak occured.

what lies? The proscutor did not prove that Libby lied. Yet you believe it like the 11 libs in the jury.

Russert said he had not HEARD about Plame at that point, and therefore could NOT have told him.
The defense presented NO evidence that Russert had heard Plame's name before that point.
If Libby had testified that he was sure Russert told him Plame's name, at least they would have that as evidence Russert must have known, but Libby didn't testify.
I'm not sure how you mount a case defending against perjury without actually testifying that you didn't lie. Without Libby, the defense case was basically that you should not believe any of the people who are saying things different than what Libby TOLD the grand jury -- without ever presenting evidence that Libby was standing by his statements to the grand jury.

" I did get the highest grade in my class, but that was many years ago"
If it wasn't for guys like me you would not have had the highest grade, so quit bragging and keep billing.

I am depressed. There goes my last fleck of faith in the jury system. This is a case in point for why we have an appelate system.
Reversible Error
Libby's legal eagles have plenty to pick from.

Anybody who claims to be an Independent is a closet Dem.

Sorry, I was already fully deflecked by the Simpson race circus and the tobacco juries.

On what grounds? If it's a new law, did he think it was unconstitutional? That would be a little different.

Fitzgerald said Plame's job WAS classified? I wouldnt be surprised if all employement at the CIA is classified at some level. Was Plame a covered official under the law in question, no but her job may still have been classified to some extent. Maybe not above top secret but some level.
