"Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty. "
Count me as among the few, then.
Fred would work. Duncan Hunter is better, imho.
Sound advice.
Nannystating in the name of God isn't conservatism, yet many Freepers seem to have fallen under the mistaken impression that it is. We've had a guy in office for the past seven years who pandered to the nannystating crowd and still gave us the largest expansion of government power and the biggest spending since the 1960s, as well as one of the most incompetently run wars in our country's history.
People will vote for Rudy (or Romney) because they want someone who can win the WOT. Let me put it this way: I would have voted for FDR because he was a leader during the most crucial period of the 20th century. Same thing with JFK. I think Rudy fits that mold. People around here need to get their heads out of the sand (or out of their derriers) and realize that their pet issues are way down on the list of most peoples' concerns right now.
I totally agree it's too early-- I've made no decisions. I just don't like the attempts by some to completley stifle discussion. Okay, my husband is annoyed at me for "computing" still, so I'm truly going now. GOod night.
LOL..I think so.
I heard Terry Moran on with Hugh Hewitt one night and he admitted that the media is baised towards liberals..I think they have come out of the closet (so to speak)
I keep hearing that the alt media, radio talks shows, the blogs..and other internet sites like Free Republic are the "wave of the future"...however, I don't think the MEDIA are just trying to help the dems...
I think THEY are trying to run foreign and domestic policy, as well as picking a POTUS that they like.
We may have to fight both the dems' candidate and the media's candidate.
Sleuth..
You and I are of the same mind. Don't think you're a voice crying out in the wilderness.
Hope you are well!

You think Constituional Rights are "pet issues"???
What good is winning a war on terror if we have nothing left to show for it?

Can you get him to fix his logo?
I rest my case.
all that yuteful energy ,, and such a mind.. Oh my...
What the heck are the great big benefits of being here? You all act like FreeRepublic is some union whose endorsement of a candidate is going to make some big difference in the 2008 race. I think some here have delusions of grandeur. This is a site where we talk about politics. I didn't sign anything that said I had to think a certain way when my donations were accepted. Again, if that has changed, I wish to be notified.
I wasn't referring to you or this thread particularly.
You didn't repost the first part of what I posted to you...that I have enjoyed this thread because of the lack of name-calling and bashing...
I was making a general observation about ALL of the threads that have been going on here at FR.
There have been some that have been very nasty..and the will stay archived.
NO, Zulu...you did well...this has been a good discussion thread tonight!! And YOU have been a great host.
It's done daily, constantly, yet more needs to be done!
No, Reagan was not perfect. He wasn't close to perfect, but I do remember what it was like before Reagan.
Before Reagan, the only place we seemed to beat the Soviets was an Olympic hockey match.
Before Reagan, the "misery index" was well above 20.
Before Reagan, the country was in a "malaise."
Before Reagan, our foreign policy looked like it was developed by frightened rabbits; well, Carter's cabinet wasn't quite as brave as frightened rabbits.
Before Reagan, pessimism was the rule.
Before Reagan, we were rushing headlong into some kind of gleeful surrender to socialism. Yeah, it's not great now, but remember what it was like?
Before Reagan, the economy tanked and American cars looked like shoeboxes, but not as aerodynamic.
Before Reagan, was Jimmy Carter.
Finally, one can't look at events in a vacuum. What would have happened if we had become entangled in Lebanon? Right. We just don't know, do we? Would we have still stopped the Evil Empire. I still give Ronald Reagan the credit he deserves for that one.
As for the wall, ask some Poles, Latvians, Lithianians and Estonians if Reagan made a difference.
