On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

We spent hundreds and hundreds of hours back in 2004 volunteering to make sure that traitor john kerry wouldn't become commander-in-chief of the outstanding men and women of our US military. In fact it was while out in Loveland, Colorado going door-to-door that a FReeper first told me about this site. That's how I found out about Free Republic.

American Heritage Dictionary - Gadfly
n.
1) A persistent irritating critic; a nuisance.
2) One that acts as a provocative stimulus; a goad.
3) Any of various flies, especially of the family Tabanidae, that bite or annoy livestock and other animals.

1) Certainly describes Ann.
2) Ditto. But she may not goad people in the direction she wants to.
3) That's something to be worried about. Ann is pretty thin. Maybe cattle blood is the only nutriment she gets.
What's that old phrase? "I don't care what they do, so long as they don't do it in the street and frighten the horses.?"

OK Gee... she's not as trashy as Paris Hilton either. Is that our standard of measure?

What's a Paris Hilton?
Is it a senator, a formers first lady(?) and a candidate for president?

I don't watch trash TV, so perhaps you can bring me up to speed here..

And thank you for telling me how I feel about Ann as a woman. Name calling, tsk tsk tsk!

Sunsong will be so hurt. Me too!

*sob*

Wow, you know how to click on the name for sign in dates.

I've been posting on this forum since before there was registration.

My history is fairly well known. Unlike yours.

Speaking of which, it's funny how so many of the Coulter-bashers are names you seldom see anywhere else around FR.

They certainly aren't memorable for their contributions to the cause.

But they probably have a different cause.

For a minute I thought freerepublic had gone wimpy.

Thanks for that breath of fresh air.

The problem is not Ann, the problem is a wimpy nation afraid of a word.

All I know about john edwards is that he is married with... I think three kids, maybe one of those adopted. Or is that Sam Brownback of Kansas with an adopted kid.

Except that Moore has been openly courted by the democRAT party. The democRATs have directly associated themselves with him and his views. The same cannot be said of Ann.

I don't know about that. She wasn't invited to speak at CPAC by accident.

I'm just pointing out that despite the democRATs assertion, Ann is not now and never has been a "mouthpiece" of the GOP.

I'm with you on that one.

>> The real scandal is that she thinks Mitt Romney, America's most liberal Governor for the last four years, is "our best candidate." <<

Again, I see parallels between the Cult of Ann and the Moore-Ons:

Michael Moore: A few years ago, I said Al Gore was a corporate controlled Bush clone and unacceptable but now I'm backing DINO war monger general Wes Clark cuz he can beat Bush.
Moore Fans: Yes, master...

Ann Coulter: A few years ago, I said John Roberts was a stelth liberal Souter clone and unacceptable but now I'm backing RINO Governor Mitt Romney cuz he can beat Hillary.
Ann Fans: Yes, master...

Dear BlackElk,

Sadly, no, I never thought those things would come to pass.

Worse stil is the fact that many who claim to be conservatives don't seem to comprehend that these things are destroying us from within.

LOL, yeah, Ann Coulter backing Mitt Romney should REALLY inflame some of these Ann Coulterites who are onboard for Duncan Hunter. LOL!

Dear BlackElk,

"OK, but Alec Baldwin does not get to take Kim Basinger with him even as a house guest. She stays here to be re-educated at a camp run by Ann of New Canaan and another Connecticut girl Laura Ingraham of Glastonbury."

I'll volunteer to assist Ann with Kim's re-education.

Just trying to be helpful.

Predictable reply -- any time someone dares to criticize the inflammatory comments of a conservative activist, the retort is, well what have you done? ...As if an individual doing such "menial" things as door-belling or writing letters to the editor can possibly wield as much power as a public figure. Have you taken a look at yesterday's Dummie Funnies? You can find the mirror image of yourself defending Gore's hypocrisy because he has "done so much for the cause." And the personal attacks are sometimes there for good measure, too!

I have no doubt that Coulter has drawn young people into the conservative movement, just as Michael Moore has drawn young people into the liberal movement. Young people often respond to red meat. I can remember when I first started paying attention to politics and talk radio, I used to eat up anything that was anti-Clinton. There was this guy named Larry Nichols from Arkansas who would regularly be a guest on talk radio and he would tell us how Clinton was on the verge of impeachment (long before the Lewinsky scandal.) And I, like many, would eat it up because that is what I wanted to hear. Eventually, he faded from the spotlight because he cried wolf one too many times. And, eventually, I grew up and realized "red meat" may fire up the troops, but it really is little more than a pep rally.

Do you think Michael Moore, despite the money and the young people he brings in, is a net asset or a net liability to liberalism? Personally, I was thrilled when his crockumentary came out because I think it helped the president win sympathy from the majority of the voters.

Update: My attempt to save Ann didn't work out. I hadn't been outside the restroom more than 5 minutes and some guy was wanting a date. Heck, I had to water-board that guy 4 or 6 times before he would say uncle. He might have said it sooner, but it was tough to make his the words with all that gurgling echoing out of the commode.

What amazes me is how much that guy looked like John Edwards............

Sorry Ann, you're on your own with this one.

Thanks for the moment of rational clarity. It amazes me how many have fallen for the PC dominate talking points of Libs. Even use the words, (overuse?) just as the libs do. Disagree=hate. Truth=mean spirited or hate monger.
