A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....03-02,03,04-07....T.G.I.F. at the Finest

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Thanks for the thread GeeBee.. I have had a very hectic day. My date was picking me up to see play Death of Salesman at 6:30. At 6:15 I woke up from nap (had overslept..only 3 hours prior night) and had to get ready AND CREATE & POST THE SINGLES THREAD

YIKES

Needless to say, it is a bare bones thread. When Dolly Aint Got No Thread it ISN"T like when Billie Aint Got No Thread.

I knew I could put together & post the thread in an hour. I planned to get up at 5 do do so.

Sigh.

The play was excellent. My first time seeing it.

Professional theater in Hudson Oh.. about 10 miles from my home..small venue, much like many of the Broadway theaters size wise

I thought it was so funny. It was very quiet there and then to hear a ping. ;)

That's true. It is good FR doesn't pop off the screen. It will look just like a document unless of course, it's warm fuzzy Wednesday. LOL

Have a good night Dita
I hope to catch up with you tomorrow :)

LOL! It is funny how you wrote this post. Though it's not much fun being late like that. All frazzled trying to do too much at once, all while keeping one eye on the clock.

I'm glad you enjoyed the play. That's something I'd like to do. Have not seen a play in a long time.

Talk to you tomorrow. :)

El Roi

[Hagar] called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?” —Genesis 16:13

Many locator devices are on the market today that promise to help us keep track of elderly parents, children, wallets, pets, parolees, even potential kidnapping victims.

As useful as these gadgets are, they would have done Hagar no good. No one seemed to care enough about Hagar and her unborn child to monitor their well-being in the desert. No one but El Roi—Hebrew for “You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees” (Gen. 16:13).

Hagar served Sarai, Abram’s wife. Sarai felt like a weak link in the chain of God’s promise to bless Abram with many descendants. She was barren, so she told Abram to sleep with her maidservant and build a family through her. This ill-advised suggestion—born amid intense cultural pressures to provide an heir—led to nothing but trouble. When Hagar became pregnant, she despised Sarai for her inability to have children. Then Sarai treated Hagar so badly that she ran away. There in the desert, feeling the misery of her past and the uncertainty of her future, Hagar met God, who saw her and took care of her.

El Roi sees your past misery, your present pain, your uncertain future. He is so watchful that He knows when the smallest sparrow perishes (Matt. 10:29-31). And He is the God who sees and cares for you today.

If God sees the sparrow’s fall,
Paints the lilies short and tall,
Gives the skies their azure hue,
Will He not then care for you?  —Anon.

Keep your eyes on the Lord; He never takes His eyes off you.

Everything went well considering Ron died so suddenly. His wife Jackie has been very strong with emotional ups and downs.

Her daughter Georgiana read from the book of Revelations and gave a testimony about her Dad and did incredibly well. She is only 10.

Rons nephew who just got back from Iraq gave a testimony that was fantastic. He said he called Ron back in November from a cell phone and while they were talking a IED went off and the cell connection went dead. Joe instantly called him back and then asked Ron how he was doing. Ron joked and said "better than you" and laughed.

I am concerned about Jackie and the kids so we all will be staying in close communication and will be there when she needs us. Many a teary eye today but many more great memories of a real good friend to so many.

Ron was a saved man as is Jackie so the comfort knowing that Ron is in the prescence of the Lord is comforting.

Thanks for asking Dolly. We will all be alright, time heals a broken heart.

Do they live far from you? Jul I know will be strong for her.

It is so hard to release the earthly ties. we KNOW & we believe they are with God but miss them so.. this is the story that has unfolded for decades & decades..

Painful farewells to those we love in the faith.

and it will go on until this age closes

They live about 25 minutes away. Not to far..
Jackie works right across the bridge and travels everyday.
I think she should move closer to work then things would be easier on her and getting the kids off to school. She is a teacher..

Ron was an at home Dad, he was disabled due to his bad hips.
I don't know how we will help her figure this out.

My husband died suddenly when he was seemingly healthy and not yet 50 .. I really know what a shock it is. Just give her a lot of patience and understanding..It isn't easy...A move might be too stressful at this time...

I am sure it depends on the person and their needs. Major decisions are not usually good to make for awhile unless absolutely necessary..

One day is dreadful and the next one.. one may function well..A rollercoaster.

I understand, she will have help from my sister in law that lost her husband in his late 30's. Juls brother died of cancer leaving Marcie and a young son Joe. She has since remarried and still attends most family events keeping her son around the family.

Marcia has been spending alot of time with Jackie.
I watched a friend die of cancer and helped his wife after.
I know it is not easy, I am sorry Meg, I never knew.
God Bless you my FRiend.
