"Based on changing conditions in the consumer retail electronics market, the company identified the need to close and sell stores with low performance or non strategic, old store layouts and locations faced with market saturation. The process began last week with the closing of four CompUSA stores and over the next 60-90 days, the company will close a total of 126 stores in the United States to focus on initiatives that enhance its top performing locations," said Roman Ross, chief executive officer, CompUSA, in the press release.
CompUSA says these moves will allow the company to focus its efforts and ensure a strong presence in its 103 stores in 39 states and Puerto Rico.

if your local store is not on this list, it is closing.
I notice dublin/columbus OH is closing.
I like ordering online for pickup from Bestbuy and just going by and picking it up. Also, the big box office stores have gotten much better selections of computer stuff and you can order that for pickup too.
Compusa was ok for it's time, The problem was all their advertised prices always included the ever present Rebate in small letters below the price. Rebates suck and are a pain in the butt.
The alternative stores are no better. try finding a current video card at Best Buy or worse, Circuit City. Their top of the line cards are what were top of the line 2 years ago.
Zipzoomfly and Newegg ect.. are the way to go.
Dang, I'm going from a 1/2 mile drive to 271 miles.
By doing this I noticed all Atlanta stores are going to be closed. Wow...
I buy online.
New egg is my store of choice. Incredible selection and 3 day shipping for cheap. Their website is one of the best retail sites I've ever seen for any product.
Bad prices and bad service- that's why they lost me.
Yeah I shop on Newegg because it's a great site with customer reviews. Then i go over to Zipzoomfly for hopefully the same product but with free shipping.
YOU are a vulture. I imagine we'd get along famously! ;)
I feel badly for all their employees. ;^(
"Worst. Service. EVER."
"$109 just to install Windows plus the cost of the OS. "
Jeesh! I thought that was a good price. It takes forever. I've used them several times for one price repairs. Shows you why they sell vanilla and chocolate ice cream.(not Compusa, of course).
I shopped at their original store when it was located in far N. Dallas and called SoftWarehouse.
Never did like it.
What's the matter, can't they find more illegal aliens to supply a cheaper work force? Or could it be that the illegals aren't willing to work at minimum wage sales jobs when they can get all the work they need in the higher paying construction industry?(/sarcasm)
Yep as well as all the St. Louis stores....
Looking forward to the sales. :-)
It's all online isn't it? You can compare prices, products and deals at the click of a mouse. Who the hell wants to battle traffic, waste time driving from store to store and then wait in a queue for some nimrod to serve you?
