If W could run for a 3rd term?(Vanity)(Poll)

Posted on 02/21/2007 9:29:07 PM PST by jeltz25

I was thinking about this and thought I'd get the opinion of FR. If there were no term linits, and W could run for a 3rd term, would he win the nomination? Would he have widespread conservative support? How much?

Putting to one side the organization/money card and assuming that that was all a wash, if the primary in 2008 shaped up as:

Bush McCain Romney Giuliani Gingrich Brownback Hunter Huckabee

Who would win? Would would you vote for? Who would be the best chance to win 2008?

Why is everyone so critical of President Bush? If Rudy gets elected, he'll make Former President Clinton appear more conservative.

I'm actually hoping Dubya calls off the 2008 election because that would make liberals go insane and we'd be justified in shooting them on sight.

No more Bushes for me. Not George, not Jeb, not the nephew, not grandchildren yet unborn. Sorry, one more Bush and this will be the United States of Mexico.

Not in this lifetime or any other. Bush II has soured me on the very word. I have to call the stuff growing in my backyard "shrubbery" now. Bush I was bad enough with his "read my lips" and his banning of certain imported firearms and utter disregard for the Constitution (which disdain he appears to have successfully passed on to his offspring). Bush II is a horror of a president.

No thank you. I think he's leaving us with a big enough mess as it is.

Oh, God, please...no more Bush. I mean, his presidency has long run out of steam.

Bush has proven to me that one 6 year term would be long enough for any one person to be president. Any longer and the mischief just grows exponentially.

He has already done enough damage to the base. No more Bush family, please.

Perhaps we should appeal the 22nd and Let Dubya and Billy go Head to Head in 2008!

"Perhaps we should appeal the 22nd and Let Dubya and Billy go Head to Head in 2008!"

Wow, that would make for some great campaign debate!

Dubya: After inheriting your mess of a foreign policy, slashed intelligence, pared down military, giving aerospace/outerspace/satellite/computer technology to the Chi-coms, post dot com economic bust all I have tried to do is keep the American people safe, and I have done that.

Bubba: Yeah but look what I did for the Hummer!

"...would [W] win the nomination?"
Yes

"Would he have widespread conservative support? How much?"
No, single digits with 90ish support from koolaid fueled RINObots.

"Who would win?"
W.

"Who would you vote for?"
Hunter (or Tancredo or Paul)

"Who would be the best chance to win 2008?"
Amongst an educated voting population? Hunter (or Tancredo or Paul).
In real life? Whoever finds a Constitutional Right to free daycare and donuts first...

Okay, leaving aside the 22nd Amendment, which I think should be repealed so that a President in his second term is not a lame duck.

I think the Republicans would renominate Presient Bush in 2008 because we are loyal to our standard-bearers (unlike the other guys). For God's sake we nominated Dole in 1996 when virtually anyone should have made Clinton a one-termer.

Saying that, President Bush would be defeated in the general election. He has alienated enough conservatives and independents so as to make certain he is no longer electable as evidenced by the comments on this thread.

Unfortunately, Bubba would crush Bush in an election.

I think President Bush deserves the joys of God, Family, Friends and good health with spare time and lots of Texas BBQ.

Even if he could run again, I'd say he deserve all of the above.

Thank you Mr. President, you've led us through the official recognition of the WOT and have taken the fight to the enemy. You have done good things on an international stage. But it is time. You're tired and have taken a beating from the bozo half of this nation whom you have suffered whilst keeping their sorry asses alive.

It's time.

Taking an example from Cheney's role as VP, I'd like to see Rudy as VP (security) and a full conservative (Brownback? Hunter? a number of possibles) as Prez. That'd cover most of the bases.

Calling Bush a RINO is like calling the Pope a protestant.
Call him what he is == a CINO.

The constitution limits the number of times a president may serve in the office. But you already knew that.

I would definitely vote for President Bush again, however, he wouldn't accept a third nomination no matter what the law reads. I've read a lot about his administration and it is my humble opinion that Mrs. Bush cannot wait to get out of town. Sometime last year a reporter made some off the cuff question about his thoughts on another term and the president bluntly responded "no more wife." Who could blame her? It is a nasty place for a nice republican family to live. Please pray for them. The people in this town are nasty, and for all of his attempts to raise the quality of the conversation, they spit in his face daily. Barack Obama has some nerve acting like it is his brilliant idea to change the tone of political discourse in this country. His behavior reflects no such notion, and that he is so completely unqualified for the job leaves me mystified that people are taking him seriously. We better stick to finding a new star and let President and Mrs. Bush enjoy their well-deserved retirement. I could not be prouder to have them as our First Couple, but given all that we have asked of them, it doesn't really seem fair to ask for more of their time.
