Rudy Building Lead Over McCain... [Rich Lowry]
...according to the new Fox News Poll. Asked who would they support in a Republican primary if the choices were McCain or Giuliani, 56% of Republicans said Giuliani, and 31% said McCain. 50% of Independents said Giuliani, and 27% said McCain. This represents a big bump for Giuliani since early December. Then, 42% of Republicans said they would pick Giuliani, 40% McCain, and 35% of Independents said they would support Giuliani while 41% said they would go with McCain.

Did you just see FNC?
They had a poll on Republican presidential candidates and asked people which candidate they wouldn't vote for under any circumstances.
Gingrich had the highest percentage of people who wouldn't vote for him no matter what. It was 60-something percent.
Giuliani had the lowest number at 30-something percent.
ROFL
This afternoon Hannity said McCain is running out of money. I find that hard to believe since he was putpacing Rudy on raising money, wasn't he?
LOL. That's the truth.
I saw that --- the exact opposite of FR.
13. Are you hoping there is someone new who you havent heard about yet who may enter the 2008 presidential race?
Yes:
Democrats 46%
Republicans 53%
Independents 53%
I haven't decide yet who I will support in the primary for President in 2008. Have a long time to decide that before the primaries are held. The candidate of my choice in the primaries may not be the one that the voters choose to run in the General election. However, I will support the Republican candidate for President in 2008.
You might pick yourself off the floor long enough to see what percentage of Democrats - the crossover demographic that Giuliani is ultimately counting on - indicated they would under no circumstances vote for him.
Wow ... I am not terribly surprised since Newt had the highest negatives of all the Repubs.
I have to take Newt on his word but I wonder if he's not declaring because he wants to see about his chances vs Giuliani.
I'd heard that Newt's negatives were worse than Hillary's, but I'd never seen it in print before. And a Fox News poll reported it!
Right now it sure seems to.
Makes one think that the undeclared Newt has seen similar polling.
That'll leave a mark.
Thanks BunnySlippers - I want to tell you something.
My ex-wife, raised in South Carolina, an actress who lived in NYC from 1987 to 1997 - told me last night that Rudy may be reason enough for her to vote Republican for the first time in her life.
She's an actress - what can I tell you?
This was her comment: "I saw NYC before and after Rudy came to office. I went from carrying a gun - to roller blading in Central Park. Rudy was a stinking republican - but man did he clean up the mess that was NYC"
For what it's worth.
Agreed. I'm pretty sick of this "new tone in DC" crap. It hasn't gotten us anywhere except letting the left think they can lie with impunity and now they are even more outlandish and emboldened.
But as to a law and order guy, Rudy is all of that. And he doesn't take crap from anybody. Kicked Arafat out of a concert hall in NYC during a time when Arafat was being hosted as the most frequent visitor at the Clinton WH. Clinton was ticked. LOL
Anyway, Rudy did the same thing with Fidel Castro and refused to meet with race baitor Al Sharpton. One thing about Rudy, no matter how you feel about his position on social issues, he's got guts.
Thank you for being forthright and a grown-up about this. That is what we need. I suspect many of these "Rudy NEVER" people really just support other candidates for the nomination and are stirring the pot.
No, there's no need for any of you to make vehement denials of same, we've heard it all before many, many times.
How about you post those numbers then, complete with a link.
I wish McCain well, too and agree that he is not looking healthy.
You and plenty of other so-called conservatives. On another thread FReeper afronaut put it very clearly:
As the skin of the onion is slowly peeled away, we start to see that the St. Rudy supporters are not just backing him because he is the only hope of winning, but they are starting to reveal that they are in agreement with a large percentage of his liberal social views. (if not all)
what has McCain been spending money on?
