Rudy Building Lead Over McCain... [Rich Lowry]
...according to the new Fox News Poll. Asked who would they support in a Republican primary if the choices were McCain or Giuliani, 56% of Republicans said Giuliani, and 31% said McCain. 50% of Independents said Giuliani, and 27% said McCain. This represents a big bump for Giuliani since early December. Then, 42% of Republicans said they would pick Giuliani, 40% McCain, and 35% of Independents said they would support Giuliani while 41% said they would go with McCain.

At least McCain is pro-life in comparison to Guiliani...
Alrighty then, lets all get behind a little known genuine conservative who Hillary can walk all over on the way to the WH, to then be able to appoint liberal justices to solidify the liberal agenda across all walks of life in this country. You're chargin' sounds like a real train wreck in the making to me.
Uh-huh...
Many years ago, when Rudy was mayor, I stopped to get a shoeshine in NYC. The shoeshine guy was an African American older gent, the kind of guy you wish was your granddad. We got to talking about Rudy, and he said "Guliani cleaned up the streets" and he loved him for that. Well, that is OK, but remember Hitler did the same things in Germany while outlawing guns for citizens. Rudy is a good guy, but he misses the point - guns don't create crime, people do - and I'm afraid that Rudy would be too quick to try the old failed policies of banning guns to prevent crime - what we need now are more armed citizens, not less.
One thing about having a candidate who has personal baggage. He can't be as damaged by the Clinton smear machine as someone who has an unclouded personal past. Republicans aren't used to having a candidate who is tough. We need one.
Guilani/Hunter is my preferred ticket right now.
Every time you use that term, you validate Jesse Jackson. I absolutely refuse to say it except in disgust as I repeat what someone else has said. I encourage all to please stop using it. Do you know any "African Americans"? I don't.
Niether do I...Were all AMERICANS
If the RNC had a modicum of brains, guts, and creativity, we'd be in a slam-dunk position to get a Duncan Hunter, Mitt Romney... Rush Limbaugh in the WH.
Even Sean Vannity figured out that presenting audio/video clips of The Beast in October 2002 supporting the President and then comparing her current screeching, illustrates the fact that she is a liar.
Joe Six-Pack doesn't even remember this...
...much less anything democrats have said regardling support of the War on Terror.
Furthermore, they do not understand that illegal immigration is not only against the law, but it provides an open door for more terrorists to easily walk into America and kill Americans.
I'll end my rant here.
Disgusting, isn't it? Never ever will I understand that. I are one and I wouldn't ever dream of "staying home" on an election day.
what about Cheney for VP? I know there's a term limit on the President. Is there one on the VP. I think keeping Cheney as VP could go a long way to helping shore up conservative support for whoever gets the nomination.
The only thing with Jeb is that he's such a national figure in his own right with the name recognition and all that he could end up overshadowing the top of the ticket. Generallt the VP is a guy that doesn't really take press away from the P. Think guys like Gore, Kemp, Quayle, Bush, Cheney, Agnew, etc...
He's a tough lawman...not a lawbreaker. Define the difference between Churchill and Hitler. Rudy has fought for what is right. He hasn't fought for Rudy.
I like Rudy...I don't agree with all of his positions. I do think his stated desire to appoint more Judges in the mold of Scalia, Roberts, and Alito is genuine.
He may not be my choice in the primaries. I am undecided at this point. If he is the GOP nominee, I will of course vote for him in an instant.
Well said!
Vote conservative in the primary & then vote GOP in the general.
Why is that so controversial?
I've been doing it for years. It has required some serious nose-holding at times.
Good man! I'm a scotsman for Rudy...but he's gotta earn my vote.
This was her comment: "I saw NYC before and after Rudy came to office. I went from carrying a gun - to roller blading in Central Park. Rudy was a stinking republican - but man did he clean up the mess that was NYC"
You're added.
Thanks!

True, but it took a Civil War to end slavery. Short of that, overturning Roe and returning abortion to the states is the best that can be expected. I just don't see some national ban or constitutional amendment happening absent some Civil War-like event that totally changes the game.
That said, the best that can be hoped for is a SC that will do the job. To be honest, we still don't know about Roberts and Alito. If they won't overturn Roe, it doesn't matter who the next President is, Roe is safe forever.
On the other hand, if they will, and we have 4 Justices who will, I'd have just as much confidence that Rudy would put the 5th on as I would in Romney or McCain. Now, Brownback or say a Gary Bauer I'd probably have more confidence. But of the major candidates thus far, I don't think there's any less probablity that Rudy would appoint that 5th Justice than there is that Mitt or John would.
As we saw with Miers, appointing a Justice is more than just the WH. Whoever the President is, you're going to have the conservative legal establishment(fed society, ACLJ, Eagle Forum, etc...), the talk radio world(Rush etc...), the conservative press(NR, WS, FoxNews, etc...) and a whole bucnh of conservatives in the Senate all having input and virtual veto power over the pick. The WH will be forced to name a strong conservative with a record, a la Alito.
So, on that issue, I think we'll be ok, no matter who the nominee is. Although Rudy, unlike McCain, doesn't have a record of stabbing the party in the back and sucking up to the media to push his "maverick" status.
