Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) continues to hold a solid, double-digit, lead in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Giuliani attracts support from 32% of Likely Primary Voters, fourteen points more than the number two man in the race, Arizona Senator John McCain. This is the largest lead yet measured for Giuliani. A week ago, he was ahead 27% to 19%.

For me the issue is conscience. I cannot support certain things no matter what.
"The earth is the Lord's and everything in it." I answer to God for what I do. Ultimately He is the only one who can make us safe and secure, not to mention happy. So I am not voting on the basis of who can make us safer. We protect ourselves in vain if we pay no attention to the laws of God. If we glorify immorality and condone baby killing then we will fall under God's judgment, and no amount of attention to our military and other security measures can protect us from that.
Thanks for posting that! AWESOME!
LOL! It's a bit crooked! LOL! I have such a hard time posting polls!
Then I suggest that you go and study the issues, because there is a very big difference.
If your choice, Newt, is the R nominee, I will vote for him and I would hope all Rs unite around him.
(Unlike you, I will not place a de facto vote for hillary.)
But as for making Newt the nominee, I believe that would be suicidal.
He is unelectable, being the only R more reviled by the masses than the very reviled hillary.
I live in Iowa which is in the middle of fly over country and Rudy is leading in the polls here. People who do not live in fly over country might want to learn the facts before they make such sweeping predictions.
What do you like about McCain?
Mine always look the same as yours! :)
Think Rudy stands the best chance of bringing back the people that got fed up with always being told they didn't belong -- know a few that got fed up here and went Indy or Dem including a State Senator who went Dem.
Good point, but I fear that ship has sailed.
The Big Tent is gone, and I don't think it will ever come back.
Have you read "State Of FEAR" by Michael Crichton?

No, I rarely read any books and few publications since finding FR. :-)
Leadership is a good thing to have, so why rule out some of the other candidates , some who actually served in combat and not just as law clerks (with deferments keeping them from being called up even tho they were 1A status)?
His most recent utterances on Global Warming are just more icing on the cake and should be a message as to what else will he back, even tho evidence to the other wise is available from his conclusion and stance..
As to who is best to fight the WoT, that is a claim that ought to be taken carefully, imo,
Whether one was America's Mayor or so ordained by some as such, or whether it is a sitting member of a Congressional committee dealing with Armed Forces issues today, a Rush to Jump on any available bandwagion ought to be a cautious process and not one leaped to so early in this process.
Define "moderate" or "centrist." If you define it as Rudy, that means you are defining it as a liberal on social issues, a liberal on global warming, and a liberal on a number of other issues. Liberal is liberal even if you call it moderate.
Oh...and the gun control issue will kill ANY chance Rudy has with middle America.
That is the science of polling. Depending on how well it is conducted, a poll can be very accurate. It is probably safe to say that Rudy is currently in the lead for the Republican nomination. Better than being behind but in no way an assurance that he will be the nominee for 2008.
"These are not REAL numbers yet, you know."
Obviously the subjects of "statistics" and "sampling theory" were not things you studied.
BTW polls can be very accurate, from surprisingly small samples.
Rasmussen has a good reputation, as a fair pollster.
There is not a uniform definition of 'moderate'. But Rudy is a moderate conservative, or as I like to call it, a Barry Goldwater conservative. Socially moderate, fiscally conservative and a hawk when it comes to defense.
If any of the Democratic front-runners had pro-gun positions, you might have a point, but they don't. They won't vote for a pro-gun control Democrat because the Republican is in favor of gun control, too.
Home is Texas and I'm working in Cheyenne, WY... I'm about as fly over as one could get...
Go check out the gun message boards and the Vet's message boards. Nominate McCane or Gulliani and you're going to loose the guys in large numbers. They aren't going to hold their nose and vote for a RINO.
That was a large part of the problem in this last mid-term.
I think that Newt is politically astute and realizes that he couldn't win and therefore won't run. He would be an excellent chief of staff where he could influence policy without having to face the electorate.
