Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) continues to hold a solid, double-digit, lead in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Giuliani attracts support from 32% of Likely Primary Voters, fourteen points more than the number two man in the race, Arizona Senator John McCain. This is the largest lead yet measured for Giuliani. A week ago, he was ahead 27% to 19%.

I agree... anyone but McCain.
I will support Rudy if he gets the nod but my primary choice is John McCain and I know thats not popular on this board. My ideal ticket would be McCain/ Guiliani.
I'm not voting for Rudy. Certainly not because some know-it-all tells me I must unite around his own personal choice. How about everyone else unite around MY choice. Yeah! Do you like it?
Why do you want Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States?
This is a serious question, so thank you in advance for your thoughtful answer.
For me the most important issue is leadership in the WOT. As a former resident of NYC, I saw RUDY display leadership and not just on 9-11-01.
He turned the city around when it was viewed as 'ungovernable'....Rudy reduced crime, cut taxes, attacted new business & jobs, cut welfare, stopped the subway grafitti & 'squeegy' homeless people who held motorists 'hostage' at red lights...he stood up to Al Sharpton and the Brooklyn Museum's ridicule of religion ....
I believe he would be an articulate president who can rally Americans against the Jihadists who have declared war on all of us!
Thanks for a clear distillation of that argument. Excellent!
So you hate Italians?
He will play to the North East and the West Coast... Flyover country isn't going to support him and the more he opens his mouth...
Thanks and here is some more poll news:
With over 9,000 votes in cast in this month's GOP Bloggers straw poll, Mayor Giuliani wins with 33.1% of the vote. As the Hotline's Conn Carroll noted yesterday, this was the largest winning percentage of any candidate in the history of the poll.

Some analysis is in order:
Mayor Giuliani increased his support by over 70% from last month.
The Mayor won with votes of all degrees of conservatism through 8, and won at every level of candidate commitment and blog readership.
The shift from Captain's Quarters readers, the largest blog participating in the poll, is striking. Last month, the results were Romney 31.6%, Giuliani 25.6%, Gingrich 23%. This month, the results were Giuliani 43.9%, Gingrich 21.4%, Romney 16.5%.

And if you're interested in what scientific polls of primary voters are saying, look no further than the latest USA Today poll, which shows Mayor Giuliani breaking 40% for the first time, 16 points ahead of his nearest competitor.
