An explosion of disbelief - fresh doubts over 9/11

A new film alleges the U.S. staged the 9/11 disaster to justify the Iraq war

The official story of what happened on 9/11 never fails to shock. Four American airliners are hijacked by Osama Bin Laden's terrorists in an attack on the heart of the Western world on September 11, 2001.

Two are deliberately flown into New York's famous Twin Towers, which collapse. A third rams into the United States defence headquarters at the Pentagon, in Washington D.C.

The last goes down in rural Pennsylvania, 150 miles north of the capital, after a tussle between the hijackers and some of the passengers onboard, whose bravery was recently portrayed in a Hollywood film, United 93.

Nearly 3,000 ordinary, decent Americans die in the attacks, provoking the U.S. President George W. Bush to mount a global war on terror, which leads to the invasion of Iraq, with Britain in tow.

Or that's how the official story goes.

Yet today, more than five years on, this accepted version of what happened on 9/11 is being challenged by a 90-minute internet movie made for £1,500 on a cheap laptop by three young American men. The film is so popular that up to 100 million viewers have watched what is being dubbed the first internet blockbuster.

It took decades for someone to challenge the evidence of Hitler's atrocities in Europe. It's taken less than 5 years for 9-11 to be challenged. I've heard some weird conspiracy theories in my 78 years... but this one proves the Democrats are right: Human Beings DO HAVE SHORT MEMORIES!

They know. They just want to create a different history that will agree with their twisted beliefs--and of course support their irrational hatred for the President.

Yes, sheeple have short memories AND a lot of people will believe just about any stupid story. This explains why Michael Moore rakes-in cash - a lot of dolts with more money than sense.

So what's the bottom line here...Rove did it? And how did he do it? Did he train and hire the nineteen guys? Did he pay Bin Laden? He must be some devious guy. Powerful too. In fact, anyone that powerful and all-knowing should have the power to control elections...but then, his party lost the last one. What's up with that?

the further away time moves from an event the more likely the event becomes a conspiracy

I agree, except that not all hatred of the President is irrational.

There will always be "conspiracy theories" and this is one that probably not go away, just as people still think there was a gigantic conspiracy in the Kennedy assassination.

...a 90-minute internet movie made for £1,500 on a cheap laptop by three young American men.

Back in the mid nineties, a college professor of mine waxed philosophical about the emerging internet and the ability of anyone to publish. He said, "...and that might not be a good thing". His prediction becomes more relevant by the day.

This is a pretty bad game that the democrats have played over the past six years. Bash, lie, damage, cause wholesale doubt, hatred, and then think when they get in power they can fix the lies.

I have news for them: It can't be fixed now. You have created a chasm that cannot be changed. Nothing will ever be known for truth again. They have twisted everything so far out of balance that it has completely fallen down.

Or that's how the official story goes.

I suppose she prefers Michael Moore's ever so factual thoughts on the subject.......

Here's what is apparently a pretty good rebuttal to the "loose change" video using the video itself. Word of warning - It is very long.

They either have to believe this or they have to confront the reality that there actually are evil people in the world. They would much rather believe that people are inherently good because that way they can justify their ideology. If WE are the bad guys then their political beliefs are correct and dialogue with our enemies will solve everything. If they can't believe this then their core is shattered.

This problem demonstrates the importance of a networked, grass-roots, interactive news and information distribution system, exemplified by Free Republic.
