Ann Coulter analyzes GOP Presidential hopefuls:

---Rudy Giuliani:

"I Think He's The Only Republican Who Can't Beat Hillary."

"I don't see him winning the Primary."

"If you can't get MY vote as a Republican against Hillary....."

---John McCain:

"Not a Conservative, but a patriot."

"A genuine war hero, unlike John Kerry."

"His weaknesses are half of his positions."

---Mitt Romney:

"Red stater in a blue state."

"Has a working knowledge of God."

---Newt Gingrich:

"Absolutely brilliant."

"His closet has certainly been thoroughly investigated already."

"I wish we could bring him in to pinch-hit for all presidential debates."

I'll second that opinion. I'm not stupid eough to vote for a liberal just because he's a Republican. Rudy gets a pass from a lot of people because he stepped up in the wake of 9/11.

---Mitt Romney: "Red stater in a blue state."

HAHAHA.. she must be kidding. Romney is a moderate--errr-- I mean liberal. He is anti gun big time. That issue alone rules out any change of a real true conservative voting for him. He is not as bad as Rudy, overall.. but hes a far cry from a conservative.

I found Anne's most insightful comment to be about HClinton. She said that HC's candidacy was "inevitable" and compared that to Bob Dole's Republican nomination.

I was surprised that neither Bill or Anne mentioned Duncan Hunter. That would have been an interesting assessment.

Actually, regardless of Rudy's RINOism I think he'd win NJ and Ohio putting the election in his column.

That said, I think Ann is wrong on Mitt. I think she has a little crush on him.

I don't know why Rudy didn't nuke Hillary in this last election.

I agree Rudy would be a good candidate if he wasn't so liberal. Perhaps he can overcome his weaknesses by marketing himself as Mr. National Security. I see it as really his only chance.

she said rudy could NOT beat hillary and that she wouldn't vote for him unless he changed his vote on abortion, guns and gays. why would she be derided as a RINO. methinks you misread the headline/

It's not an accident. The media elites (yes, im suggesting Ann is one) on both sides look at people like Hunter/Tancredo/Ron Paul as pains in the neck- they just see them as candidates that just take away votes from the 'front runners'.

The conventional wisdom that Rudy is the most electable candidate out there is precisely ass-backwards

Absolutely correct - the same is true of the other two as well, Romney to a lesser degree than the Manchurian Candidate.

So, why is it "conventional wisdom"? Because the MSM says so, day after day, month after month, year after year. After awhile, the masses believe it - especially when there are plenty of "useful idiots" on the so-called right agreeing with them.

Republicans used to know instinctively that the MSM's "conventional wisdom" is exactly the opposite of the truth. Sadly, there are numerous Freepers who have forgot (or never knew) that sad truth.

I saw Newt on Hannity last night, he said that he saw his role in the election as raising the level of the rhetoric from both sides, forcing a real policy debate instead of all this negative back and forth that has already begun.

Rudy already had a shot at Hillary. And he suddenly developed cancer in mid-race, leaving Hillary against Lazio. I found that sudden cancer thing very odd.

Let's just say the cancer was real and bad and whatever. What in the world is he doing running for president? Paul Tsongas had cancer, ran for president and is now deceased. If Rudy can't finish a senate race, why would he not be a health risk as president.

I'm biased against him, I know, primarily because I think he's the worst kind of Rino, and that he has absolutely zero chance of being elected. I'm always amazed at how the Rudyites cheerlead for a guy whose most enduring political act was handing a senate seat to Hillary Clinton.

Nope. Newt was behind the contract with america which was like a VERY short leash for Clinton, and even caused him to support conservative ideas (like welfare reform).

Newt is only second to Reagan to me, even though he looks too much like Ted.
