Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.
Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.
Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.
Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?
Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?
Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?
Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?
Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

Absolutely agree that the MSM is basically useless, except to let us know what they are up to.

I agree.
We need a march for W and Iraq vets.
I had very interesting conversation with a black man from Kenya last night. He absolutely loves George Bush, supports him 100 percent. People in Kenya know what is at steak, and appreciate what we are doing. Killing terrorists by the tens of thousands every year.

Hey, what did you do to SherrieG? She's been banned already. Only one person got to go at her.Beats me? I saw she'd responded to my original post and when I went to it, the message read that her account had been suspended or deleted. Did I miss anything interesting?

I would like to hold a counterrally to deal with the antiwar moonbats who are going to spit on the Pentagon on March 17th, AND hold our own rally, similar to September 2005.

Moreover, I imagine that these neo hippies will deny having done these things just as the aging hippies of today deny that they ever spat upon vets from Viet Nam (i.e. Jerry Lembecke's book The Spitting Image).

Could someone please post the picture of Josh Sparling that was printed in Sunday's edition of the Washington Post (page A8). Maybe I'm being over sensitive, but I believe the picture misrepresents Josh, and makes him appear to be part of the anti-war demonstration. I've voiced my opinion with three staff of the Post, and would like others to do the same.
Not sure if this is the image that ran in the COMpost, but here is one from Yahoo! NEWS photos:
U.S. Army Cpl. Joshua Sparling of Port Huron, Mich., addresses a crowd gathered at the U.S. Navy Memorial during a women's peace rally, Saturday Jan. 27, 2007, in Washington.
Sparling was injured Nov. 20, 2005, while fighting in Ramadi, Iraq, and after a lengthy but unsuccessful recuperation his right leg was amputated below the knee a year later. (AP Photo/Chris Greenberg)

Thank you for writing this, Kristinn.
Most of the media of course totally whitewashed the event.
It was disgusting what happened on Saturday. If someone wants to be against the war fine, but abusing our veterans is beyond the pale.

The ABC evening news (or was in NBC, I know I never watch CBS) had a good piece on it.

I read almost all of the posts. And as always the DC Freepers did a great job with only a few. Apologies for not being there . I can not bring my kids into dangerous situations such as the madness you all dealt with this past weekend. Did that once in NJ and vowed never to put them in danger like that again. Not an excuse just my reality. All I can say is we are very grateful Kristinn and to the DC FReepers for always doing what the rest of us sometimes can not.

The First Amendment does not confer upon one the right to spit upon a veteran, or any other individual, for that matter.
Omit every word after "damn". And you get a truer picture.

My wife and I went to Ft. Collins Colorado and stood with the Veterans against the Antiwar protest there on Saturday.
Kristinn even to counter the ones out here makes it worth it. We have been doing this since 2002 out here and I know the way you feel. One thing I do know if the D.C. group comes out for the DNC convention in Denver we are making plans some of us to Freep it. We would be glad for some Ideas from the pros at this. We had a blast when we freep-ed the Hilda beast with the masks that D.C FReeper sent out to us so you know we are with you guys in D.C when ever you are out every week in spirit

sit-rep, you are so off base!!! You should be ashamed of yourself. What a total jerk you are. I find it hard to believe you are even a FReeper!
Kristinn is an amazing person and even though I am fairly new here I can tell the difference in those that DO care about our troops and those that don't walk the walk and you sit-rep do NOT. IF acording to you Kristinn is to blame you then are saying that Josh is an idiot and has no mind of his own. Josh did exactly what he wanted to do and he sure as H#$% earned the right to be there if he wanted to be.

sit-rep is a coward and a bully. He also posted this.>p>
"If Vets came to me and said "I wanted to do this" I would discourage them anyway I could". Yes you are sit-rep, you would rather sit back and get fat probably and let the enemy of this country, the traitors to this country take over. I will fight back till I take my last breath. Thank God you are few in numbers people like you sit-rep, thank God.

Now, tell me.... What was the reason Kristinn posted this thread? It was because not too many showed right??
I think you should re-phrase your comment.
