I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.
Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.
Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.
Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?
Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?
Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?
Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?
Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.
ditto
heh heh heh
With all due respect, I'm not out there doing this for Bush. Nobody who enlisted, enlisted to protect Bush. It was to protect this country.
There are two fronts in this war. One overseas and one here at home. It is the battle for public and politcial will that the enemy hopes to win and is the reason that the enemy still fights and keeps killing troops.
Our troops are in no position to fight that battle for the public's will, but the wounded at Walter Reed and some other active duty folks from other installations instinctively turned up because they understood they were protecting their buddies. It's the same sense of duty that makes them want to return to their units because their buddies are still fighting.
They protected the backs of their military family Saturday, just as surely as they had been in Iraq. God bless them.
Thanks!
I tend to get "tunnel vision" and concentrate on what we can do, what we can exploit to maximize our impact. Even when it's slow, the wheels are usually turning loooking for a target of opportunity. Too bad liberals take away our time from honoring heros.
And the people who come out on a cold day to stand up for those heros, they're my heros too. Especially you and all you do. PS: Jane hates you for the big ass on the effigy.
Low profile? We're conservatives. On the premit maps, we're marked, "No Tear Gas Zones" because we don't cause problems we don't vandelize property like the left wing wackos.
It's only the left for whom "Protest = Arrest" because that's the way they want it. They will provoke and provoke and provoke until arrested, or the Democrat leadership gives them permission to break stuff. The left wing sense of self is so self loathing that they have to been seen doing good, so that why they craave being arrested. Some sick sense of visibility for their own ego gratification.
Yes. And note that people remember him and not the little sh*t that sent it.
The NY Times is reporting that Joshua Sparling spit back at the protestor who spit at him:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/washington/28protest.html?pagewanted=2
I may be wrong, but I don't remember Josh spitting at anyone. I do, however, remember the Communist spitting at him.
WY, get with Racebannon. He lives in your neck of the woods.
The College Republicans have put in time at Walter Reed. They are always welcome. Their enthusiasm has been noticed by the patients.
If it comes down to being the last one to do this, there's going to be a fight amongst the DC Chapter and some others as to who's going to be the last to show up.
I'll wait.
Protest Focuses on Iraq Troop Increase
...Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back...Whether Josh did or not I figure he had every right to spit back. But I wouldn't trust a NYT reporter just the same.
In this day of HIV spitting is aready on the books as assault.
Don't forget the US Flag Balloon (abner and victim of circumstance). That was a major chunk of change for them to take that many hours off the envelope's life and pay for the propoane and crew expenses.
Ive read all the complaints and i think as far as reasons for not showing up and some solutions might be:
plan in advance, atleast 3 months, preferably in the summer (when kids are out of school) so that ppl can go or get time off.
It might be a good idea to also charter buses, that say leave seattle, WA and travel I90 picking folks up on along the way. those that want can drive, fly or take the train.
someone also made the comment that the left has "stars" but what i see is the same old tired hags they always drag out. susan sarandon, sean penn, jesse jackson. these ONLY have appeal to the du types. most dems cant relate to them at all.
With enough notice there is no reason why we cant have a "star studded" event ourselves. what about gary sinese, ted nugent, chuck norris, just to name a few.
But my biggest thing is that we need to think OUTSIDE the box. if the goal is to show the troop our support, while showing the US and the rest of the world, then marching the DC area is kindva yawn.
everyone marches the capital. most folks i know only need to hear "march in the dc area" and they shut off the tv or change the channel.
its old and cliche, the left has done it to death. the only reason they get any air time at all is because the media is full of commies!
so heres an idea. not sure how much effort it would take, or all the legistics involved, but its an idea.
why not have a support the troops ralley in sturgis SD, in august (during the motorcycle ralley).
imagine one biker, holding the american flag in front, behind him those carrying the armed forces flags and behind them several hundred thousand bikers rolling down I90. oh and lets not forget the cars, trucks and vans that would follow them.
Start it out that way and ride to a chosen spot. surely some freeper in south dakota has or knows someone who has some land we could use(or rent)to hold a support our toops ralley.
Why couldnt we get ted nugent to sing, or gary senises "lt. dan band" or BOTH with over 6 months notice? What about rush or hannity? this is certainly in dick cheneys neck of the woods (close anyways) would he come speak on behalf of our troops??
Its something different, something to catch the attention of folks around us. also many freepers already go there each year and im sure we could get the help of motorcycle clubs all over america to spread the word.
i apoligize if this is choppy or not well written. its just off the top of my head. im close to the area, so id be willing to help any way i could.
oh and the other plus to this is how many raging lefties do you think are going to show up to "counter protest" with that many bikers present;)
The unexpected consequence of four Freepers, dirtboy, JoyjoyFromNJ, kristinn and some old fat guy, whose name I forget, was that the large number of military folks saw that there was public support for them and that the public was being educated about the moonbats' phony support for the troops. A great number had families in tow, and it was a proud moment to be able to say "Thank you" to them in front of their loved ones.
Blow it our your ass. They showed up unannounced. To my knowledge, nobody asked them to show.
Personally, I was happy to see him again.
Good observation. Very good observation.
That clearly points out who is running these marches.
Not always. But they did learn how. And they have been doing it for 40 years or more so they know how, have the infrastructure and money connections developed.
There are ways to be as big, if not bigger, and more effective, but our side has to come together.
Yeah, we were not even 1,000 but we made it clear to American that the wackos do not repersent all Americans. It kept the media honest to some extent.
If you didn't know by now, the left is going to spit on the Pentagon on March 17th. We HAVE to show big time at that one to show the lefties that they don't rule the roost.
